Southern California/Los Angeles CPR Training

An incredible testimonial of our Los Angeles CPR instructor crew:

Good afternoon,

A week ago, LaToya Butts, Debbie Nate, and Katie Harker, came to Chaminade College Preparatory to recertify faculty and staff in first aid and CPR. As a relatively new mom, I was also able to ask questions regarding my toddler, which I am grateful for, and has prompted this email.

My 19-month-old Micah had a severe allergic reaction to a Lara bar he was eating 2 nights ago which ended us up in the ER. I began to recognize the signs of struggled breathing and blisters on his face and body and within minutes we were in the ER being looked after. Had I not had that refresher with them, I may not have understood that the moments we had were precious and that he needed immediate medical attention which I would not have been able to provide for. This was his first reaction and I now know that every time it will get worse without his Epi-pen and Benadryl.

Please extend my gratitude to these three individuals, and tell them to keep up the good work, knowing that the knowledge they imparted saved my little one.

JTA Mobile CPR has been serving the Southern California area since 1991, granting over 50,000 people certification cards from Red Cross, American Heart Association, ASHI and the EMSA Authority for Childcare.

Depending on what you need, we tailor-make the Mobile CPR training certification class, without dry details and intimidating testing (for all but Healthcare class, where it’s a 25 question quiz). Our old-school style teaching is 90% learning by doing, 10% lecture. In an emergency, your brain may forget, but your body may well remember. Kind of like learning to ride a bike.

We continue practicing until everyone feels confident of their skills. Before you get your actual card, your metaphorical “certification card” is signed by your own heart’s stamp of approval.

Students time and time again tell us our intention of teaching truly makes the classes flow effortlessly and they understand this lifesaving skill like never before. We look forward to having you try us.

We guarantee you’ll like us and learn what you need or it’s free.

What areas do we serve?

JTA CPR is based in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley. From there, we travel to all Southern California Counties including Santa Barbara, Ventura, L.A., Orange County, San Bernadino, Riverside, and San Diego. Small extra travel fees may be added when traveling outside of Ventura, L.A., and Orange Counties.

Chelsea Dunleavy, Lifeguard Instructor and Peninsula Event Lifeguard

San Diego (for Fall, Winter); Redwood City (for late Spring, Summer)

4 years experience lifeguarding in communities like Redwood City, Woodside, Atherton, Menlo Park Chelsea has now become a Lifeguard Instructor with Happy Swimmers and is entering nursing school in San Diego this fall.  She says, I enjoy being a lifeguard because growing up I have always loved the water and I want others to experience that same joy. Everyone should be able to have fun and be safe while swimming. I have swum since I was a baby, but have competitively swum for 11 years and I also play water polo.

Christina Pasetta, Lifeguard Manager, CPR and Lifeguard Instructor

Regional Lifeguard Manager, 18+ years experience lifeguarding

Manager of Event Lifeguards,  New Markets. Contact me through the website contact form, for anything lifeguard for hire related once you've made your online booking. For questions up to making your booking, use the contact form for our owner, Jenn.  Have a happy and safe party!  Christina Event Lifeguard Bio: From my first big swim in the Pacific, and subsequent pummeling from an unexpected wave, I have loved lifeguards. I became a Jr. Lifeguard at age 7 after my unfortunate tossing in the white water, and began to understand the importance of water safety. The foundational learning of this program gave me the passion for ocean and pool awareness I have today. During my formative years, I began to play water polo and lifeguard after practice for our school's younger swimmers. I continued to play competitively in college and became a Jr. Guard Instructor as well as an Ocean Lifeguard. My love of the water has stayed with me even when I became a Zookeeper after earning my bachelor's, where I swam for exercise. The observational skills and preventative efforts I practiced daily when caring for Orangutans and Harbor Seals helped maintain my lifeguarding prowess. When I became a researcher of Orangutans in Indonesia and began my graduate schooling, I knew event lifeguarding would be a great way to support my education while honing my observational techniques. Scanning the trees for primate behaviors is perfect practice for scanning the water area for potentially distressed swimmers and vice versa. I love all primates, humans included, and I will work hard to keep all of them safe and happy- inside the water and out! Advanced certifications: Open Water Lifeguard Experience, Scuba cert Swim Instructor Bio: 15+ years experience teaching swimming! Christina generally serves Santa Monica and the Westside, from the Ocean to West Hollywood Hills. She says: The moment I see swimming "click" in a student, I feel a wave of happiness- their giant smile glowing, where once a timid or nervous excitement challenged their own self-confidence. I have seen hundreds of these smiles, from young ones to golden aged students, and it never fails to fill me with a sense of purpose. I try to apply all my years of teaching swimmers to each and every new student's learning abilities. What may work for one does not always transfer. When I was a zookeeper, I learned that positive reinforcement is the best and least stressful way to teach even the most stubborn tiger or sea lion to accept medical treatments, and swim beautifully (even the tiger!). Hopefully, none of my human trainees will be as tough, but I am up for the challenge! As a Master's student in Anthropology, I have learned to apply my observational skills to the pool too. Knowing how a student can adapt to the new challenge of swimming is not unlike understanding how different cultures learn to adapt to societies' challenges. I plan to use all my various experiences from Jr. Lifeguard instructor, Beach Lifeguard, Zookeeper, and Grad school to influence the unique and focused attention I will give while teaching a new swimmer. Everyone deserves the ability to enjoy swimming and feel confident too. I can't wait to welcome others into the water :)

Josh Boyer, CPR instructor

Redondo Beach, CA

Over 10 years of experience as a CPR Instructor, Beach and Pool Lifeguard 4 Years as Assistant Aquatics Director for Pittsburgh University After college, I spent some time working as a stuntman in the movie industry, but never gave up teaching and my passion to help others. Still working in the movie industry, I have been fortunate to be hired by Jenn Tyler and be given the chance to teach CPR on the West Coast. Being certified in CPR and First Aid for over 15 years, I find it a great pleasure to help people keep up to date on the latest and most efficient ways to help others. Teaching CPR all comes down to that one day were you get an email or a phone call from a former student that tells you how they had to perform CPR on a friend, parent, child, or a stranger and they tell you of the incident and how they could have never done it without taking the class I was teaching. We instill the confidence and know how to save lives!
