I worked for an old swim instructor of mine for 1 year and have worked for private clients the past 2 years. I have worked with children with autism for the past 2 years, and I plan on studying special education at the University of Kansas next year.
I’ve lifeguarded for a few family friends birthday parties. I love to lifeguard because I love to work around the water. I like to make sure anyone in the water is having fun, but of course being safe. My favorite part of lifeguarding events is when I have the opportunity to work children’s parties and invent water games for them to play. I’m very fun and easy going and work well with children.

There is nothing more valuable than teaching a skill like swimming that will offer one a safe experience & can literally open doors to increased self-confidence & competence in any body of water—be it pool-sea-or lake. Years of coaching water polo & operating Los Angeles Jr. Lifeguard program enabled me to amass an enormous tool box of skills to help teach people of all ages to swim & handle themselves safely in the water.
As a 30 year veteran of Los Angeles County Lifeguard & Fire Dept Paramedic I know how rewarding & important maintaining a safe environment for the public & swimmers can be. Spotting & preventing danger is a learned skill that when actively applied can literally make the difference between a fun day or one wrought with tragedy. Turning people onto the stoke of water play is really a gift that should be shared with everyone.

I have been teaching swim lessons for about nine years. I truly love teaching lessons! I was awarded a full swimming scholarship to Howard University so swimming definitely holds a strong place in my heart for various reasons. This is emulated through the way that I teach. I don’t just like swimming, I love swimming. I have a passion for swimming. You always get the great work from someone who doesn’t consider their job a job, but rather something they love, a passion- this is how I feel about swimming. So let’s get our swim on!
I started life guarding around 15 or 16 years old. Since I was already at the pool all the time (since I was on the swim team), I figured this cert would be extremely resourceful. I would work in between swim practices! I love being a life guard and take pride in being responsible for lives! I intend to make everyone feel safe at all times. Don’t worry, if I’m around, you have the SAFEST environment ever! And we all want to be safe right?!

Hi! I have been teaching swim lessons for 6 years and I have experience in swim competition, enough so that I believe I have mastered the sport. I have taught in a corporate gym as well as for a local school board. I have experience teaching all levels; from babies as young as 5-6 months to adults. The most fulfilling thing as a instructor is to see my students gain confidence in the water and see improvements in their techniques. I really enjoy imparting my knowledge of swimming onto all of my students and I strive to create a comfortable and safe swim environment for my students while at the same time making sure they enjoy every moment of their lesson.
I serve the DC metro communities of Alexandria and Arlington, among others.
Swim Instructor Bio:
Teaching swim lessons is rewarding because you are essentially saving a kid’s life by teaching them how to be safe in and around the water. Nothing is better than seeing a child progress over a short amount of time from being a non-swimmer to a proficient swimmer. I have 12+ years of competitive swimming underneath my belt and have many tools to work with children of all ages and abilities to teach them how to become better swimmers themselves. In my spare time I like to go to the beach and surf, because I can’t stay away from water!
I have been lifeguarding for the past 4 years at many different locations throughout the Orange County area, and for the college that I attend. My experiences as a lifeguard and a collegiate swimmer have taught me to notice which kids are strong swimmers and which kids are not, that way I am able to keep a closer watch on those that are not as strong of swimmers. While lifeguarding I remain focused and on high alert at all times to be ready for anything. I have experience lifeguarding busy public pools and watching kids of all ages.
Common areas I serve: La Palma, Cerritos, Cypress, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Buena Park, Anaheim areas

Event Lifeguard Bio: From my first big swim in the Pacific, and subsequent pummeling from an unexpected wave, I have loved lifeguards. I became a Jr. Lifeguard at age 7 after my unfortunate tossing in the white water, and began to understand the importance of water safety. The foundational learning of this program gave me the passion for ocean and pool awareness I have today. During my formative years, I began to play water polo and lifeguard after practice for our school’s younger swimmers. I continued to play competitively in college and became a Jr. Guard Instructor as well as an Ocean Lifeguard. My love of the water has stayed with me even when I became a Zookeeper after earning my bachelor’s, where I swam for exercise. The observational skills and preventative efforts I practiced daily when caring for Orangutans and Harbor Seals helped maintain my lifeguarding prowess. When I became a researcher of Orangutans in Indonesia and began my graduate schooling, I knew event lifeguarding would be a great way to support my education while honing my observational techniques. Scanning the trees for primate behaviors is perfect practice for scanning the water area for potentially distressed swimmers and vice versa. I love all primates, humans included, and I will work hard to keep all of them safe and happy- inside the water and out!
Advanced certifications: Open Water Lifeguard Experience, Scuba cert
Swim Instructor Bio:
15+ years experience teaching swimming! Christina generally serves Santa Monica and the Westside, from the Ocean to West Hollywood Hills.
She says: The moment I see swimming “click” in a student, I feel a wave of happiness- their giant smile glowing, where once a timid or nervous excitement challenged their own self-confidence. I have seen hundreds of these smiles, from young ones to golden aged students, and it never fails to fill me with a sense of purpose.
I try to apply all my years of teaching swimmers to each and every new student’s learning abilities. What may work for one does not always transfer. When I was a zookeeper, I learned that positive reinforcement is the best and least stressful way to teach even the most stubborn tiger or sea lion to accept medical treatments, and swim beautifully (even the tiger!). Hopefully, none of my human trainees will be as tough, but I am up for the challenge!
As a Master’s student in Anthropology, I have learned to apply my observational skills to the pool too. Knowing how a student can adapt to the new challenge of swimming is not unlike understanding how different cultures learn to adapt to societies’ challenges.
I plan to use all my various experiences from Jr. Lifeguard instructor, Beach Lifeguard, Zookeeper, and Grad school to influence the unique and focused attention I will give while teaching a new swimmer.
Everyone deserves the ability to enjoy swimming and feel confident too. I can’t wait to welcome others into the water 🙂
I have been instructing swim lessons and lifeguarding for 4 years. I learned how to swim very young in Hawaii and continued swimming all the way until college when I received my lifeguard certification. I was fortunate enough to become an Eagle Scout and teach swimming in the Boy Scouts of America. After joining the Marine Corps I completed my certification for Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival which is my current occupation. Within the Marine Corps I have been extensively trained in many different water survival and swimming techniques. I enjoy the outdoors and the I feel as though the beach is my second home. The thing I like most about teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding is knowing that I am teaching a skill to others that will potentially save their life one day.
Advanced LG certs: Waterfront lifeguard, Ocean Lifeguard Experience, Wilderness First Aid.
8 years experience swim teaching!
Some of the city areas I serve:Northridge, Encino, Van Nuys, Burbank
I have been teaching swim lessons since I was 15 (it was the very first job I ever had!) and I still love it to this day. I’ve worked with babies as young as 6 months all the way up to teenagers preparing for high school swim teams. I also have taught beginning to advanced adult lessons. I am a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor, so I love tailoring lessons to each individual! No matter the age or ability level, the best part is seeing the progress someone makes when they overcome previous obstacles, such as putting their head underwater or diving in the deep end!
I’ve been teaching swim lessons for 8+ years to children ages 2-18 (as well as adults). I’ve worked with children on every level – from those scared of the water, to kids on a swim team. As a life long competitive swimmer, teaching children to swim and instilling in them a love for the water has always been a passion of mine. In additional to helping children enjoy the water and learn the necessary survival skills, I am also capable of working on specific strokes and techniques with older or more advanced swimmers.
I worked as a lifeguard during high school and college for my local city quarry, and now work in the San Diego metro area. I’ve always enjoyed being in and around the water, so lifeguarding was an easy choice. Allowing people to have a great time while still being safe is something I pride myself in and I look forward to working with you, your family, and your guests!
I serve the San Diego communities of San Diego proper – Everything south of Carlsbad
I have been a swim instructor for 6 years and love teaching children how to swim . The best part of teaching swim lessons is seeing the progression of my students. There is nothing more satisfying than when a student understands how a certain swim stroke is swam!
I have also been a lifeguard for 6 years, and before I could work professionally I was a junior guard for 3 years. I always wanted to be a lifeguard ever since I was 11 and started swim team and would see the lifeguards up on the stands. The best part about lifeguarding is providing a fun, but safe swimming environment for others to enjoy. Fun Fact: I am going to school to be a music teacher and I currently can play 10 different instruments!
I serve the Sacramento communities of Roseville, West Sacramento, Carmichael, among others.
I have a current WSI certification
Hi, I’m Coco! I have been a swim instructor for a few years now, but have been working with kids for most of my life. It all started in Girl Scouts when I got to host my first event. I loved the energy the kids brought to the table, and from that moment, I knew I had to work with them. Experience in Girl Scouts helped me become a babysitter/nanny and camp counselor, and has eventually led me to teaching swim. Being a swim instructor seemed natural for me because I swam competitively in high school and love being in the water, as well as working with people. My favorite part about teaching swim is watching the child progress. The pride and excitement in their eyes when they finally master a skill they had been struggling with is priceless :~). A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is the polar bear and I could talk your ear off for hours about why they’re so fascinating!
I became a lifeguard in high school and am now in my second year of college. I wanted to be lifeguard because I love swimming so much that didn’t want to be away from the pool while I was out of the water! I am also very concerned with safety ever since I took my very first CPR class with my Girl Scout troop. The instructor inspired me to continue on in my safety education and become AED and First Aid certified, and then eventually become a lifeguard and get my emergency oxygen distribution and blood borne pathogens certifications. I believe that people should have only good experiences in the water, and want to do everything I can to make that happen. I hope that everyone is able to enjoy the pool regardless of their skill level, and always feel safe in the water. A fun fact about me is that I love rock climbing!
I serve the OC, Inland Empire, and San Diego communities of Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, and Orange, among others.
Hi, I’m Dallas. I have been teaching swimming lessons consistently since February of 2017. I teach a wide range of levels from beginning pre-school ages all the way to higher teenage levels. I work patiently and effectively with each child, giving each child equal time to work on techniques as well as making time for fun but educational activities. I find instructing an incredibly rewarding experience that allows me to pass on a skill to a child that they will use for the rest of their lives. I am a fully trained lifeguard with certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1995. When I was 2 years old, my family moved to Southern Utah, near Zion National Park. I grew up spending most of my time outdoors rock climbing, hiking, camping, canyoneering, and most of all swimming during the long and hot summers experienced there. After graduating from high school, I moved to Seattle, Washington where I attended Highline College. There in Seattle, I experienced great music, incredible scenery, and made many amazing friends. Through my college, I was presented with the opportunity to become a lifeguard and a swim instructor. I found a true interest and love in the profession, building strong connections with fellow co-workers, regular patrons, as well as the children I taught. This summer (2017) I was given the unique opportunity to live in Hollywood, California. Here I aim to build more strong connections and increase my increase my experience within the aquatic community.
I serve the Greater Seattle area.
I taught swim lessons at camp and privately for the last 3 years working with children of all ages. I love helping children learn how to swim and their “aha!” moment when they finally get a stroke and become comfortable with it. I actually learned how to swim pretty early on. At the tender young age of just 4 years old I would swim on my own!
I’ve been lifeguarding for the last 5 years and teaching swim lessons for the last 3. I always keep a fun and safe environment for my patrons and love to see a smile on their faces after a job well done. Event lifeguarding is so much fun and you meet so many new and interesting people.
I serve the NYC Tri-State Areas of Paramus, Philadelphia, New York, Manalapan, among others.
Swim Instructor role: Growing up in the West Valley with a backyard pool, I learned to swim at a young age and got into water polo during high school and college. Water sports like surfing and sailing are hobbies of mine and I first started teaching private swim lessons shortly after I started my teaching career at Hoover High School in 1996. I still currently teach Health and PE while also serving in my Coast Guard reserve unit in San Pedro as a First Class Marine Science Technician. My son in grade school has been competing for two years on a swim team and loves it. All kids should have that opportunity.
Event Lifeguard role: Aside from the last two years working for Happy Swimmers, friends and family would ask me to act as a life guard for pool parties and functions when I became Red Cross certified for water safety and CPR. A good life guard takes preventative measures to mitigate potential hazards by identifying them early before the function begins. Done properly, pool saves are few and quick. I love the anticipation of potential challenges that each venue may pose and being a part of a random family”s fun safe memories they will have.
I just recently started swim instructing about half a year go and have loved every moment. The satisfaction the children get when they have learned a stroke or how to improve it is pure bliss. I feel amazing knowing my job is done when parents come up to me informing me what their child has done at their own pool. Ensuring safety is also a big role in this job and teaching children how to swim makes that so much better.
I have been Lifeguarding for two years now and have loved every moment of it. Maintaining a happy and positive attitude while ensuring safety plays a big role when Lifeguarding, enjoying the job just makes it that much better. Making both the parents and children happy and safe are very important to me.

When it comes to lifeguarding, I constantly have the goal in mind of valuing the lives of every swimmer in front of me as if it were my own. I know I am providing a great service and that is what will drive me to always keep my skills “test-ready” and alert for any possible emergency. I like to be firm but kind while guarding a scene.
I became a swim instructor at a YMCA. I taught kids ages 6 to 12. What I like about swim lessons is seeing the smile in the kids face once they finally learn the thing they were struggling with the most.
I lifeguard for the YMCA in my home town. My intentions in guarding are to make sure that everyone stays safe.
I serve the Houston communities of Katy and Houston proper, among others.
I have 2 years experience serving general areas including Beverly Hills, Burbank, La Crescenta as a lifeguard for hire.

Hi, I’m Edson, a watermen who has been involved in water safety for the last 8 years. I have worked with different departments in the LA area. I have experience the open water environment (lakes and reservoirs), the ocean environment (beaches) and the pool environment. My scope continues to grow as I continue to push the envelope. I enjoy working together with people so that everyone can enjoy a hot summer day at the beach, lake and or pool.
Edson is game to travel just about anywhere in Southern CA, we kid you not. He is passionate about guarding and has taken difficult to fill jobs off the beaten track to keep kids safe. 🙂

I specialize in competitive water polo and swimming, I participated in both sports all 4 years of college. I have NCAA Division 1 experience in both. I have also taught springboard diving lessons as well. I have taught all ages 0+ to adults. I have 15 years experience working with children outside the pool, along with college courses in child development. My teaching methods make the learning process fun and memorable. I like to challenge the swimmer with games and pool toys. I keep the learning environment calm and stress free so that the child can progress at a rate that is comfortable, yet challenging.

So may this year be a GREAT n Safe Swim Season for all and a very Enjoyable one as well. So let’s all have Fun n Start Swimming! Thank you!
My favorite part of teaching swim lessons is being able to help kids gain confidence in the water! I find nothing to be more gratifying than when I am able to teach a child how to swim and see how far they are able to come throughout our lesson. I have taught swim lessons and assisted with our Jr. Swim program for 3 years at our community pool. I have always loved the water and want others to be able to not be afraid of it. Fun fact: I taught my little sister how to swim when she was 3 and I was 5!
I have been a lifeguard for my community pool in Sutter, Ca for the past three years. This will be my fourth year lifeguarding and I love that this job allows me to meet and interact with new people all of the time! I have experience in doing private parties, swim lessons, and large group events such as day camps. When I am not lifeguarding I enjoy baking, traveling babysitting and spending quality time with my family. I am currently a full time student at Yuba College with goals to transfer to Sonoma State next year!
I serve the Sacramento communities of Roseville, Rocklin, Chico, Sacramento proper, among others.
I’ve been teaching swim lessons to children and adults for 2 years now! I’ve taught children of all ages, including newborns, basic floating and life saving skills. I’ve also taught older children basic and advanced freestyle and backstroke along with basic breaststroke and butterfly. Teaching swim lessons is fun and entertaining; you never know what to expect! Here’s something most people don’t know about me, I was a singer in choir for 5 years before I started high school!
I serve the Phoenix communities of Scottsdale, Phoenix proper, Tempe, Peoria, among others.
Hello, my name is Evan and I am a proud member of the Happy Swimmers Staff. I have almost a decade of teaching swim lessons under my belt to all different ages of kids. I really enjoy working with children, watching them learn and have fun in different activities really makes my soul better. I enjoy watching children progress. I like seeing a child who is first starting out being afraid of the water get better and better. I really hope to work with you in the future.
I serve the Washington DC metro communities of Silver Spring, DC, Rockville, Bethesda, among others
Hi I’m Evan and I have been teaching swim lessons for 3 years now, not only that but I have also been a assistant swim coach for a Club Swim Team for about 3 years as well. I have taught so many kids with different levels of ability that everyday I go into work it’s always something new which is what I like cause it keeps me on my toes and gives me new opportunities to learn more about teaching swim lessons. Kids swim lesson are not the only teaching I have done, I also teach adult swim lessons, and special need children how to swim and enjoy the water. My favorite part about teaching swim lessons is when the kids get in the water and they kinda freak out a little bit or even a lot. This makes my day because this is something so new to them and I’m the lucky one to teach them. Once we get used to the water I am able to work with them and let them become less hesitant with the water to then be able to teach them how to swim. As they become more experienced as the lessons go on you see a change from the first time they jump into the last time, this makes it all worth it.
I’m originally from Illinois and I decided to move across the country to call this my home! Why because of the beautiful weather, go to college to become a Nurse Practitioner and there are so many fun things to do California.
My intentions while guarding are to maintain a safe pool environment, maximize the fun the kids can have (or even adults), and also get to know the patrons on a personal level. I love lifeguarding because I’m able to meet so many people and they all come from different backgrounds and I’m lucky enough to be able to meet so many amazing individuals.
I serve the Los Angeles communities of Beverly Hills, Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air, and honestly I’m open to travel anywhere, new places are an adventure.
Watching someone swim on their own, after teaching them, gives me a great feeling as an instructor. My goal when teaching someone how to swim is to make sure that they’re doing it safely and efficiently. The skill level of the swimmer determines what I will be teaching them.
When lifeguarding, I intend to make sure the area I am responsible for is a safe environment (inside and outside of the water). I believe that safety and fun go hand in hand, because it’s no fun when a swimmer gets injured.
I serve the Central Coast/Los Angeles communities of Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Pasadena, Los Angeles, among others.

Hi, my name is Hailee and I have been a continuous swim instructor for 5 years now. Deciding to get my WSI certification has been the most rewarding part of any job I have done! I love the friendly and active environment that swimmers and the water provides. Until recently, I was employed with a city pool for almost 5 years. We catered to both seasonal swim lessons and swim teams. I have worked with ages 6 months – 76 years old and groups of 1 to 15! Swimming is such a important skill to learn and it doesn’t matter what age you start at. With some toys, games, rhymes and more, I love trying to make a fun and informative environment to learn in! Also, with a lifeguarding background, safety is my top priority for every lesson.
I have also been a lifeguard for 5 years. Deciding to get my lifeguard certification has been the best experience as a job! I love the outdoors and friendly environment that swimmers and pools provide. Until recently, I was employed with a city pool for almost 5 years. We catered to birthday parties, swim teams, swim lessons, meets, swim-in-movies, aerobics, and more with all ages and all sizes. With many rescues and continued training, my eyes are always alert for you! Also, for parties within size, I will offer in or out of water game time. Thank You!
I serve all of Oahu.
I also have my Title 22 certification.
I have also been teaching swim lessons for 7 years, I volunteered for 2 years to learn what I know and have taught my own classes for the other 5 years. I ahem experience with group classes, one on one, special needs and all ages.
I have been a lifeguard since 2013. With my 6 years of experience, I have found a love for what I do. Lifeguarding is a really important and meaningful job that I get the honor of doing and thanks to Happy Swimmers, I can help keep backyard pools safe now too. I am a swimmer myself and swam on Red Mountain’s Varsity Swim Team in High School. Currently, I am going into my junior year of college pursuing a degree in Economics.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, among others
I learned to swim when I was three years old, and joined competitive swimming when I was five. Fifteen years later, I am now a member of the Florida Institute of Technology University Swim Team going into my junior year. I’ve been teaching swim lessons for three years and absolutely love it. There’s no greater feeling than exposing a new swimmer to the joys of the sport and ability I’ve loved my entire life, and helping someone progress towards water safety and proficiency. I can teach basic water safety all the way up to advanced skills and fine tuning, and just love watching swimmers progress in the activity!
I first started swim instructing last year, working all seasons and now summer. I’ve taught kids from all age groups 6 months to 15 years old. I’ve also taught kids who are very scared of water and kids who are naturals. Previously, I competed on a swim team for 6 years, two in college and four in high school. Therefore, I’m very familiar with proper techniques and stroke work. Because I have also taught kids who didn’t know anything about swimming or just were just too fearful of water, I have learned to make sure kids are having fun while learning but are also safe!
I’ve been lifeguarding for three years, starting at a water park and now I currently work at a pool. I primarily guard birthday parties and know a lot of water games kids love to play. I always make sure the kids are having fun and smiling but most of all are being safe. Lifeguarding and teaching are my passions so I take my job very serious, however I always make sure to have a smile on, ensuring everyone is having fun.
I serve the San Diego communities of Imperial Beach, Chula vista, La jolla, Coronado, Del Mar, downtown San Diego, La mesa, East lake, mission valley, among others.
I have been a lifeguard and swim instructor for 5 years.
I began my instruction career at the Rutgers University pool. I began with teaching adults and then transitioned to teaching children. I also taught a few children’s lessons over the summer at the YMCA camp. I thoroughly enjoy teaching children because of their typically energetic attitude just to be in the water. The most amount of joy I get from teaching is when I see the amazement in an adult’s eyes when they are swimming when they came in with the thought they’d never learn how to swim.
My background consists of learning to swim as a small child and becoming a competitive swimmer in my youth through to high school. I began Lifeguarding five years ago at Rutgers University, where I am now a Head Lifeguard. I also have experience being a lake lifeguard with the Frost Valley YMCA camp. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the camp. My intention for being a Lifeguard and Swimming instructor is to help make any aquatics setting as safe and comfortable as I can for as many people as I can. I enjoy interacting with energetic people, and being able to provide a form of safety and security for people that is very unique and in a setting where people can thoroughly enjoy themselves.
I serve the NYC Tri-State area communities of Long Branch, Manasquan, Atlantic City, among others.
I have 10 years of experience teaching swim lessons.
I serve the Houston communities of Houston, Katy, Cypress, among others.
10 years swim teaching experience!
Serving the areas of Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe and others.
I have over 18 years experience in swimming. I like to pass on awesomeness. Being positive is what I like to put out into the world.
10 years experience!
Serving Gilbert and Chandler
Hello! I love teaching swimming! I have ten years of teaching people to swim at all levels- children, adults, and triathletes. I am a former NCAA Div 1 Swimmer from the University of New Hampshire and was a Assistant Coach there as well for one year. I have coached children ages 5-18 in addition to teaching basic skills. I can help you or your child learn to swim or improve as an athlete- mentally or technically. I love teaching swimming because it is a way to learn a life-saving skill and boost self-confidence as well. I have a step-by-step method to help children learn to swim quickly, but most importantly I use patience, creativity, and fun when teaching because each individual and their relationship to water is different. I will be taking 3-4 clients only in the Gilbert and Chandler areas. I look forward to hearing from you!
Jenn is our CA Swim Instructor Manager, and also remains as a senior swim instructor on staff. She can come to you, or if you don’t have a pool, use hers in San Jose.

My parents had me in the water at 6 months old, and Ihavelovedswimmingfor a long as I can remember. I swam on swim teams (cabana and high school) for 10 years and played water polo for 4 years.I started teaching swim lessons when I was 16and have experience working with swimmers of all ages and abilities. I enjoy teaching technique and stroke work, but regardless of the level, safety is my top priority.
Living on Kaua’i island, Hawai’i most of the year, and traveling to Australia, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, and Houston regularly to lead Lifeguard Courses and CPR training, Jenn has been the director of Happy Swimmers for over 25 years. It is a passion to assist in the empowerment of children learning how to swim in a medium once considered a fearful, uncertain place, magically turned into a supportive, fun environment to be explored with friends. The same goes for lifeguarding and training new lifeguards–there is no greater inner joy either in saving someone’s life as a lifeguard, or teaching others how to perform lifesaving skills. It is an honor for me to watch my students grow–where once there was doubt or panic, now there is strength and confidence.
Thank you for looking to become a Happy Swimmer!

3+ years experience serving the communities around Flower Mound, Lewisville, Grapevine, Frisco/Plano
Hello! I have been teaching swim lessons for a little over three years now and it is by far my favorite job I have ever had! I am CPR certified by the American Heart Association and I am also a nursing student. I was on a competitive swim team for a little over 4 years, so I ham very familiar with all the strokes. I am currently attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and I love it. Teaching swim lessons is awesome because I get to work with kids. It makes me so happy seeing them progress throughout the summer. I want to make sure that every child knows how to be safe in the water and has a basic understanding of swimming. I have taught all ages up to 8 years.
I teach water safety by building a loving, trusting relationship with all students, both children and adults, through private swim lessons. I have worked with individuals with special needs, too. I like to give ways to practice and promote even greater learning in-between the lessons and taught children how to survive falls into the water. I love seeing kids grow in their strength and having fun! With my 10 years of experience so far, I have also coached water polo (I was a goalie) and swimming teams, and was a diver in high school.
I serve the Bay Area communities of Morgan Hill, San Jose, Saratoga, Milpitas, among others.
6 years experience teaching children’s swim lessons
Excellent instructor. Limitedtime available.
Fun/positive/patient 6+ years of experience Also into basketball, boxing, chess, and rap music
I began teaching lessons at the age of 15 while swimming competitively in high school and college. I competed internationally and trained for the Olympics while in college, and also began to coach age group and high school swimming year round, along with teaching swim lessons. I love singing, and watching the antics of my five mastiffs and two goats playing with one another. (I am pretty sure a few of my dogs think they are a goat and one goat that thinks she’s a mastiff.) I also love to swim and enjoy others learning to find joy in the water.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Phoenix proper, Tolleson, Avondale (Arizona), among others.
9 years experience in children’s swim lessons and lifeguarding!
Serving communities like: Fullerton, Whittier, Yorba Linda, La Habra
I have been teaching swim lessons for 10 years. I come from a water polo and swim background having played all through junior high, high school, and college!! I have also coached water polo and swim team. I enjoy teaching others the skills they need in order to love and enjoy being in the water too while being safe at the same time 🙂
I have been lifeguarding for 10 years.I have been lifeguarding for 10 years. I love the water and enjoy making sure others are safe while they have fun in the water too. Over the past decade, I have truly come to see the responsibility that comes with being a lifeguard and it is a responsibility I take very seriously. I love having fun in the pool but safety first- always. I have performed multiple real rescues to both children and adults.
I have been working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for over 12 years. I began my water experience at the age of 14 when I played water polo. Along with water polo I participated in swimming, my high school and college surf teams. I love being in the water and helping others in the skills to be safe, successful, and have fun in the water. I have taught swim lessons from babies to adults and I feel comfortable and confident working with any type of swimmer. I am looking forward to teaching you or your swimmer the best swimming skills around!
As a lifeguard I pride myself in the recognition of when a swimmer can be in distress and to prevent any incidents. I am looking forward to a Sunny San Diego Summer with all swimmers out there!
I have 2 years Swim Instruction, Coaching, & lifeguard experience.
As a swim instructor, I teach kids to not only learn how to swim but to love swimming. I want them to be safe in the water and not depend on anyone else to help them. What I enjoy most about teaching anyone how to swim is seeing their progress and seeing them start to really love swimming and enjoy being in water. I love taking a kid who was originally scared and timid in the water and getting them to absolutely love swimming and love coming to swim lessons. Teaching swim lessons is a very fulfilling job and I love feeling like I have an impact on a child’s life. I still remember my swim instructor from when I first learned how to swim and I hope that the kids I teach will remember me and all I teach them. I have taught over 100 people ranging all different age groups, from as young as 6 months old to adults over 50. I was also a part time swim coach for a summer league team and a year-round team. I’m great with teaching freestyle and backstroke and moderate on teaching the harder strokes breaststroke and butterfly. I have also taught some more experienced kids how to do dives and flip turns. I have taken kids from fearing the water to swimming all the way across a 25-meter pool with no help.
My name is Ki and I am a Forth-generation swim instructor seeking new clients on Maui, where I’m from. As a young child I began my teaching career babysitting my younger siblings in the shoreline of Haleiwa, where we were raised. We grew up in the ocean learning to dive, sail, fish and surf, and I never missing an opportunity to learn more about the water. I passes on what I knew to my siblings and as a young adult began teaching others as well. After graduating from Kamehameha Schools, I began beach guarding for the City and County of Honolulu as well as Hawaiian Water Patrol, both specializing on beaches along the North Shore of Oahu. I continue to serve this duty and teach the youth thru programs like Jr. Lifeguards and Surfers Healing, a non-profit organization that takes/teaches children with autism how to surf.
Aloha! I, La’a, swam throughout high school on the varsity team and spent many summers teaching her little cousins how to swim as well as two summers of formal swim instruction at Kamehameha Summer School. She has always had a love for water and her relationship with it has shaped her life tremendously. La’a’s passion is sharing her great experience with the water with others so that they can feel how great it is to be comfortable in the pool/ocean and really enjoy themselves. She mainly has experience with children ages 3-12 but also enjoys teaching younger children and adults. She enjoys going the beach and pool as well as coaching water polo at Kamehameha Kapalama. She is a HUGE animal person with 4 dogs and 4 cats. She is currently a student at Hawaii Pacific University.

I have been teaching since I was 17 years of age. I love teaching because I know I can help the whole family be safe in and around the water. I love all the knowledge I have learned and always like to teach them all I know. It’s a good way of giving back and having fun in the water. I practice synchronized swimming, Spanish, adult learn to swim experience, and learn to swim stroke work & a little bit of coaching.
I love meeting new people. I have been guarding since I was 15 which means I am experience at preventing accidents from happening. I have seen it all. I enjoy what I do.

Hey ya’ll! My name is Lauren and I am happy to serve you here at Happy Swimmers. Along with being a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, I also am a swim instructor. I have taught swim lessons for two years at a public pool. The age group I have experience teaching with is toddler through school age. However I can assist any age group, kids are just so fun! Seeing kids progress is what makes my job fun. I love to see children grow in their skills and become comfortable in the water.
A fun fact about me– I know American Sign Language! Maybe I can teach you a few signs!
Hello everyone! My name is Lauren and I have been an American Cross Certified Lifeguard for 3 years. I began my lifeguarding experience at a public pool and progressed from there to working for an after school program. Now, I am here at Happy Swimmers.
I have been a lifeguard for 3 years.
My goal as a lifeguard is your child/children’s safety. I take a preventative approach and try to stop the hazard before it happens. However, real life doesn’t always work like that; rest assured I am trained to act and do the best I can to ensure patrons’ safety.
My favorite part of lifeguarding is seeing everyone have fun. Swimming and water activities are one of the best parts of summer.
A fun fact about me–I attend The University of Texas at Austin and am majoring in Speech Language Pathology with a minor in American Sign Language.
Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m so glad to be a part of the Happy Swimmers team! I have spent most of my life in a swimming pool and have 12 years of competitive swim experience under my belt. For the last few years, I’ve served as a mentor/coach to the young swimmers on a local Arizona swim team. To me, it is so important to learn how to swim, and it is equally important to learn how to love swimming. I can work with any level, starting with teaching to love and be comfortable in the pool all the way through to the specifics of strokes and turns in competition. A fun fact about me is that I broke a 25 year standing record in backstroke when I was 8 years old and that I just got back from working in Australia! Can’t wait to work with you!
I have been a lifeguard for one year and am extremely comfortable in the pool and watching over it. To me, it is very important to have lots of fun in the pool, but safety is always number one. I want to make sure everyone at your party is having a great time while keeping it safe.
I serve the LA communities of Beverly Hills/Bel Air, Westwood, Brentwood/Santa Monica, Hollywood Hills, among others.
3 years experience teaching swimming 🙂
Some of the communities I serve:Burleson, Cleburne, Fort Worth
Hello! I have been teachings kiddos how to swim for the past three years and I LOVE it!! I began working for a community pool in Tarrant county and then began teaching with Happy Swimmers. I teach all ages, but 3-5 year olds are my specialty. I think it is important for the child and instructor to create a relationship of trust between each other through fun and games while learning to swim safely.
Lifeguarding for Happy Swimmers is the best job I have ever had! I enjoy keeping the kids (and adults) safe and having fun while everyone enjoys the party! My guard history includes summer camp for two years, community pool, and YMCA for three years. NowI guard the campus pool at Tarleton State.
I have been a swim instructor for 8yrs with diverse students, locations and programs. I have worked in both public and private swim programs and have done many in-home lessons. I have worked with swimmers from 6 months to 79 years old however, the majority of my lessons have been with children 2-12 years old. I also worked as a preschool teacher for three years and a behavior therapist for two years so I have a lot of experience with younger children and children with developmental delays. Being a swim instructor is perfect for me because two of my favorite things are kids and anything to do with water! I love to swim, go to the beach and scuba dive in my free time. Last year I even got to scuba dive with whales in the Great Barrier Reef!
I serve the San Diego communities of North Park, University Heights, Hillcrest, El Cajon, South Park, among others.
I have been a Swim Instructor for one year. I have taught from Parent/Infant classes to adults. I love teaching swim lessons because I love the water and want to get children and adults as excited about water as I am. Fun fact: I love swimming at the beach.
I have also been a Lifeguard for one year. When I’m guarding, I am very attentive and careful to watch every patron in the water. I always make sure to know the level of swimming skills that the patrons have. I love being a lifeguard for events because it is a positive environment and a great opportunity for families to explore the water together.
I serve the LA communities of Pasadena, Burbank, East Los Angeles, Alhambra (anywhere is okay really)
I have been a swim instructor for 2 years now. I have a specialty in people with disabilities. I have experience working with people who have disabilities for almost 6 years. Seeing that big smile when a kid gets a new skill is definitely the best part of the swim lessons. Fun fact: I have a sister with Down Syndrome so I have a ton of experience with people who have Down Syndrome!
I serve the Bay Area Communities of San Jose, Santa Clara, Campbell, Los Gatos, among others.
10 years experience! Typical areas I serve include Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Fountain Valley
As a life-long water lover and former competitive swimmer, I’ve taught all-aged kids how to swim (pools, lakes, rivers and ocean) prior to becoming a professional swim instructor. Raised in Orange County, California/Costa Mesa resident and a mother of two grown children, my passion and joy over the years have been extremely rewarding. I celebrate with my students as we work together to conquer their fears and coach them to success in reaching goals of a strong, safer swimmer. I provide self-rescuing skills that they will carry with them throughout their lifetime! My approach is simple: build trust, teach in a loving, nurturing, fun and encouraging environment with an eye toward a new challenge and goal with each lesson. I am a Certified Lifeguard, including CPR/AED/First Aid training. Certified Paralegal (I left the corporate legal arena to pursue my life’s passion = saving lives!) “Life is as GRAND as you make it”
Hello my name is Maddy! I have been actively teaching swim lessons for over 5 years now. I was a youth swim instructor at the YMCA for over 2 years, primarily teaching the infant/toddler swim classes, but have worked with all age ranges and skill levels! My swim career began in 2008 working for the local park district in Washington state. From the start I taught ages 6 months to adult where I was able to enjoy watching people grow in their swimming abilities. In 2011 I expanded my teaching to include not only the local park district, but our local YMCA to diversify my teaching method. At the YMCA I continued to teach all ages. I have had the blessing to teach students all all ages, backgrounds and physical abilities to include students with various special needs. As a mom to an active and adventurous 3 year old little boy, I know the importance of properly teaching your child to swim in the most caring, and fun way. A quick fun fact about me is that I absolutely love animals, and love to incorporate that into the way I teach my lessons.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Glendale and Peoria, among others.
Hi, my name is Maggie and I’ve been teaching swim lessons for 4 years with ages 6 months to 12 years old. I’ve also worked with children for 7 years as a tutor, nanny, babysitter and mentor while working towards a bachelors degree in 2021. I love working with children and making a difference much like many mentors did for me. Before becoming a lifeguard, I was a member of a local swim team for 10 years.
I have also been a lifeguard for 4 years. I began my love for water growing up in and around a pool starting swim team at age 5 and continuing until age 15 when I became a lifeguard. I have a passion for water and water sports as they have always been a part of my life and I would like to share my passion while reinforcing safety in a fun environment. My favorite part about lifeguarding events is getting to know new people and watching others share my passion and love for water.
I serve the SF Bay Area communities of San Jose: Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Campbell, Saratoga, Los Gatos, among others.
Teaching from ages 3 to 37, swim lessons have always been a true joy for me to teach! Over the years, I always adjust all of my lessons to each child, teen or adult. Every swim student learns differently, which has taught me several different approaches on how to instruct them in way that is both encouraging and easy to grasp. Whatever age, level, or fear you have of the water, I am a very patient Swim Instructor who sincerely cares about teaching anyone to become a better, confident swimmer! My favorite part about lessons is being able to see the improvement of my students, seeing them smile knowing that they have gained control over a vital skill that could one day save their life.
I first started lifeguarding when I was 16, over the years I have learned so many useful, lifesaving skills that are essential to not only my job, but to my community. I’ve lifeguarded at birthday parties, senior lock-ins, and other special events. What I love most about being a guard is I have the humbling opportunity to keep my friends and community safe!

My Swim Instructor Bio: Hello I’ve been actively teaching swim lessons for six years and enjoy this more than any other profession I’ve ever been involved in. There is nothing better than doing what you love for a living and being able to teach and share it with others. I get to teach a child; learn life long skills that last a life time, as well as safety and the joy of the water. I’m always amazed at how students learn so much in a short period of time. It also fun to watch them, “Strut Their Stuff” when they become confident at what they have learned. I started swimming at age 3 and have never enjoyed anything more than the water. I have been a competitive swimmer, PADI diver and Coast Guard Auxiliary member for many years.
I am also Manager of Swim Instructors in All Areas except California–AZ,TX, DC, and NY. Contact me through the website contact form, for anything swim instructor related once swim lessons have begun with your instructor.

Swim Bio: Hello, my name is Armando. I am a Hispanic male i am 5’10 and weigh about 175. I am very athletic and love to exercise. I’ve played many sports throughout my youth. I swam and played water polo throughout high school. I also played other sports outside of school such as soccer, football, and baseball. I began to lifeguard my first year after high school. I taught swim lessons to kids from the ages of 5-12. I really enjoyed working with the kids, they always made my day. It’s truly an amazing feeling knowing you played a big part in teaching a child a valuable lesson that goes a long way. Swimming is a life skill you must learn in my opinion sort of like riding a bike. I take great passion in what I do and safety always comes first.
Lifeguarding in the Summer is one of the best jobs for a college student I believe. What’s more fun then being by the water and soaking in the sun in the midst of Summer? I remember going to the pool every summer and talking to the lifeguards. I always thought they looked so cool and what kid didn’t want to be cool? I have guarded for a little more then a year now and I can honestly say I love it knowing the importance of saving one’s life or being able to prevent a terrible accident is a very important job. Makes you feel like a bit of a hero.
Hi my name is Maryann McNally. I am 21 years old. I live on Long Island, NY. I am certified in CPR and life-guarding. I have been lifeguarding for 6 summers now. I want the everyone in the pool to be safe and have fun! I also have experience teaching swimming lessons. I was a swimming instructor for 2 years.
I have been a swim coach for over 7 years. I have worked in both the public and private sectors. I have 2 years of experience coaching beginners swim team. I prefer to teach kids age 4-17 and adults. I tend to have the most fun coaching when the kids in my classes are high energy. I do my best to make sure my students are comfortable when they are learning to swim; I want my students to be as excited about swimming as I am. My favorite skills to teach are flip turns and dives.
I have been a lifeguard for just about 3 years. I have been a lifeguard for the YMCA and Lifetime Fitness. I mainly work as a lifeguard because I am studying to earn a nursing degree and working as a lifeguard allows me to practice some of the skills I will use as a nurse.
I serve the Dallas Fort Worth communities of Flower Mound, Southlake, The Colony, Plano, among others.
I have been teaching swim lessons for the last 6 years. I genuinely have an excitement for using the performance techniques I learned as an actor at Chapman University to creatively get children to fall in love with the water! Not only should kids learn how to swim correctly, but more importantly they should have fun in the water!
I was a competitive swimmer for ten years as a teeny bopper and fell in love with lifeguarding and swim lessons when I was in high school. I think that every child should learn the safety of the water, as well as feel comfortable enough in it to have fun! My favorite thing about lifeguarding events is meeting new people in my community!
I serve the LA communities of Culver City, Studio City, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, among others.
30+ years of swim lesson teaching experience and lifeguard experience. 10 years of Lifeguard Instructing.

Swim Instructor role:I have been teaching and coaching swimming for over 30 years to children of all ages, in a variety of settings and environments. I also currently work with triathletes in improving swim technique for open water. I thoroughly enjoy the excitement a child (regardless of the age), when a goal is achieved. I can share many stories about swimming and teaching, but nothing is more satisfying when a child has a big smile and is thrilled to see you because they enjoy the swim time. When teaching swim lessons, I am thrilled to see the self-confidence of each child building as they progress.
Event Lifeguard role: I am now entering my 35th season as a LG. Each year brings many rewards. It is joy to see kids having fun at their parties and playing in the pool. I am present to keep everyone safe.
Additional certifications in: Lifeguard Open Water Certified — lake/ocean, WaterPark Certified, O2 Certified,
Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and CPR Instructor roles: My goal in training lifeguards is to instill the understanding that we are there to protect and serve. It is our job to prevent injuries before they occur and respond rapidly when an incident does happen. I teach the skills and practice the skills, so the participant can successfully meet the requirements to become a lifeguard. I train both pool and waterfront guards.
I have been teaching CPR for over 20 years. It is interesting to see how the various certifying agencies have become more stream-lined in their presentation of this lifesaving skill, creating an environment of being able to work together. It is rewarding when a participant reaches out to share how they were able to help someone because of the class.
Swimming has always been a major part of my life. It all started with a few summer swim lessons, and before I knew it, I was competing as an age-grouper and years later as a collegiate athlete. Over the past 10 years, I’ve taught swim lessons, coached swim teams, and volunteered as a Special Olympics coach. I’ve worked with all ages (toddlers to adults) and love the challenge of meeting my swimmers exactly where they are to create an individually-tailored program that will be productive and FUN. Maybe it’s about water safety, learning the basics, gaining swim skills, building endurance, or fine-tuning stroke technique. I approach swimming – no matter the level – with the intention of inspiring a meaningful impact that will reach all areas of my swimmers’ lives. I intend to evoke a life-long love of the water and swimming through my swim instruction. Swimming is so much more than a sport – I view it as a true gift in my life, and it brings me pure joy to share it with others as a Happy Swimmers Swim Instructor.

Hello, I’ve been actively teaching swim lessons for 4 years and absolutely enjoy each one of my students learning how to swim. There is nothing better than watching my students grow and become confident and comfortable in the water. I love when I establish great relationships with my students. I believe a child learns a lot more when they trust the person that is teaching them especially in the water.I am also big on moving as fast as my student would like me to in our sessions together. Lastly it is important to me that my students understand that I completely respect their space in the water. I look forward to a great summer of wonderful sessions!!!😀
I have been teaching swimming lessons for three years now and I enjoy teaching kids the most because they are sponges. They learn quickly and I find it very rewarding to see a child’s progress. I also like teaching adults because you can rationalize with them when it comes to fear or their corrections. Teaching lessons is enjoyable for me because I know what it’s like to have that fear of the water and I love helping people get over that.
I have been lifeguarding for three summers too and working in different pools has taught me to be aware of surroundings that you would think wouldn’t cause any trouble. I like lifeguarding events because not only am I guarding lives, I also get to see kids having fun and it reminds me of my childhood. One fun fact about me is that I didn’t know how to swim when I joined water polo in high school, I was actually terrified of the water.

I love teaching because my goal with every student is to create a bond with them and hopefully impact their life with the best positivity that I can give. I have taught students with disabilities, infants, adults, and senior citizens. I’m a very patient instructor, having been in education for close to 28 years as a teacher and university professor. I’ve worked with all age levels. The best part of my day is when your child actually realizes that they can be successful and swims to me unaided. It’s very rewarding! I look forward to meeting you and your family!

Swim Teaching: Hi there! I come from a long background of aquatics, and am always up for a challenge! I get my teaching experience and understanding on the mechanics of swimming, firsthand from 4 years of swimming on my high school team. I began coaching in the spring of 2012 for a small swim instruction company based in Moorpark CA, while simultaneously volunteering with the special olympics for three seasons as a coach in the SanFernando Valley. I pride myself on the fundamentals of water safety, on all levels of learning. I push the boundaries of comfort for my students at times (just as in any challenging subject of learning) but never force students, or have them do anything that exceeds their own abilities. I am patient dedicated, and have the same level of respect for ALL.
Lifeguard for Hire work: Vigilant, preventative, and alert, are all words that belong with a pool side lifeguard on duty. I can help bring a little extra peace of mind to any event or occasion. I bring to the table tactics similar to those of my swim lessons. On duty, I am constantly on the lookout for any possible problem(s), and to the best of my abilities prevent whatever I can before it happens. Water safety is my #1priority when I am present.
I began teaching swimming lessons five years ago! I have taught group and private swimming lessons at a private country club in Georgia. I then started teaching swimming lessons for Whittier College here in California, last summer. I really enjoyed teaching that Sports Camp at Whittier College because not only did my kids have fun, but I did too! I have been teaching private and group swimming lessons at my local YMCA in Whittier since August of last year. I also teach private and group lessons for babies and parents and special needs. I love teaching swimming lessons because I want the children to love the water as much as I do! My absolute favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is watching the children improve. Knowing that I taught those kids how to swim the correct way is my whole motive!
I began lifeguarding five summers ago at a private country club in Georgia and that is where my love for lifeguarding emerged! I lifeguarded at that country club for three years before I moved here, to California, where I began lifeguarding at Whittier College for the summer! I loved lifeguarding there because they had diving boards and a very deep end which made things a bit more interesting in a day’s work! I have been lifeguarding at my local YMCA since August of last year and it has truly been awesome getting to know the patrons that spend so much of their time coming to the Y, just like me. My intentions when I guard are always to keep the people in and around the water as safe as possible. What I enjoy most about lifeguarding for private events is the closeness and respect I always receive from the hosts and guests. They’re always so grateful and kind to me for my services and that makes me very happy to do my job!

Rob is also our recently retired Happy Swimmers Nationwide Swim Instructor Manager. He loves teaching in the water, and has agreed to continue serving his past years’ students on LA’s Westside: Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Westwood, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood Hills. He’s a busy guy, even in retirement!
After retiring from a 25-year career with Air France at the end of 2006, Rob created a consulting company that specializes in several areas including swim instruction. He began swimming competitively in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) meets at the age of 10. By the age of 13, he was teaching swimming to neighborhood children including those with special needs and those with a fear of water. Rob thinks that being young at heart is a reason that both children and adults trust him. “After all, swimming is fun and that is what has to be conveyed to a student. There is nothing better than seeing a smile on the face of someone who has just overcome a fear or an obstacle to fulfill a goal.” With teaching water safety and confidence as the number one priority, he individualizes each lesson to the needs of the student with emphasis on creativity and fun.
Since I was a child I was always close to the water, in my adolescence I spent three years in the national swimming school in Cuba, as swimming instructor since 1996 I worked several summers in Cuba. In 2007 I went to live in Spain where I also worked as a swimming instructor in 2012 I went to live in Sardinia, Italy where I worked as a private swimming instructor for three years, I like this job because swimming is the most complete sport, it is also very important to learn to swim by your own security, there is a risk of death by drowning very high in the world, I personally think that all people should know how to swim or know how to be safe in an aquatic environment
As a lifeguard I worked two summers in Cuba, before starting in the university, where I studied pedagogy in appreciation of art. In 2007 I went to live in Spain where I also work as a lifeguard in 2012. I like lifeguarding because there is a lot of responsibility in safety of clients at beaches or pools, I like to know that I am able to react in a stressful situation, each situation is different in each place, the work dynamics are fun and also very serious

Hi, I’m Sydney and I’m currently a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin. Being by the water is my favorite place to be during the hot summers in Texas. I was a competitive swimmer for 14 years and still enjoy swimming laps in my free time.
For the past five summers, I have been a private and group swim instructor for ages 3 to 20. I have a wide spectrum of experience from children who are afraid to get in the water to competitive swimmers who need stroke instruction.
I enjoy building trust with the children I’ve taught and allowing them to progress into confident swimmers. I believe encouragement goes a long way and try to make the learning process as enjoyable as swimming is to me!
For the past five summers, I’ve lifeguarded at a city pool and for private events. When life guarding, I work to maintain a fun and safe environment for everyone inside and around the pool.
Because I am constantly scanning the pool and assessing the swimmers abilities, I saved lives each summer that I was working and prevented more accidents by enforcing the rules of the pool as well as general pool safety procedures. Last summer I was head life guard for our staff before retiring from my hometown pool. I take pride in my job and strive to continue to be a dependable life guard.
I serve the Austin communities of Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, among others.
Serving the areas of The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe. HAS ACCESS TO A POOL IF NEEDED.

I am currently a college student attending Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California. I am a International Studies major and a Women’s studies minor. I hope to pursue a career in helping women in developing countries.
Way to go Sydney, and good luck!
Hi! My name is Taylor, I love the water and I have been swimming since I was four years old! I just finished my final collegiate season at Soka University. I have been teaching swim lessons for the past 5 years officially and unofficially for much longer. I love sharing my joy of the water with others and empowering kids to feel safe and confident in the water! I have a lot of experience working with younger kids as well as a lot of experience doing technique work! A fun fact about me is that I was a synchronized swimmer for 12 years!
I serve the Houston communities of Clear Lake, Pearland, Seabrook, Nassau Bay, among others.
I have been a swim instructor for two years. I have taught numerous people from infants, kids, teens, adults and even tri-atheletes. Many swimmers I have recently worked with have been the younger kids – infant to four or five – and have picked up a little bit of a specialty working with those who are special needs kids.
I have been an EMT and a lifeguard for three and a half years, I have worked on the beach front for a school in Southern California and at multiple pools in SoCal, and work as a standby EMT lifeguard for special events. I like to meet new people and have fun guarding while keeping people safe. I want to get into the Fire Department as a paramedic and lifeguarding is a good way to learn and be ready for anything that could arise.
I have experience as a Waterfront Lifeguard as well.
I serve the Orange County/Inland Empire communities of Mission Viejo, Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona Del Mar, among others.
I have worked as a swim instructor for three years, working with toddlers to adults working on better stroke and techniques. I really get stoked on the kids with the most progress at a young age.
I have been working as a lifeguard for four years, I am working on going to the beach as a guard someday, and I have a goal to become a firefighter.

Hi my name is Timothy Nabonne most people call me TJ or Tim. I have done lifeguarding since I was old enough to pass the exam. Ive also had the opportunity to teach and work with kids of all ages through the YMCA and other programs. My intentions in guarding are to bring a mixture of fun and safety to wherever I’m privileged to do so. An interesting fact about me is I also teach country style swing dance and two-step.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas & Fort Worth proper, Farmer’s Branch/ Carrollton, Plano, Irving, Grand Prairie, among others.
Hi, my name is Travis! I’ve been doing private swim lessons for 3 years now working with around 15-20 kids ranging from ages 4-13. I think one of the things that make me special is my ability to connect with children and get them involved and happy with being in the water. The part I like most about teaching swim lessons is seeing the face of a child light up when they do something they thought was impossible. That feeling is completely unique, I also love that I’m influencing the kids in a positive way for the rest of their life. I worked as an AVID tutor at the high school and middle school level for 3 years as well! As you can probably tell I really love to teach!
I’ve always loved swimming! The idea of becoming a lifeguard seemed like a dream! Now that I’m finally certified I’m excited to do my best and to ensure the safety of all clientele. A fun fact about me is that I learned how to swim at the age of 4 and I’ve been swimming ever since. I even ended up competing at a state level on my high school swim team! I also was in Boy Scouts till I was 18 and left as an Eagle Scout!
I serve the DFW communities of Dallas, Lewisville, Keller, Irving, Frisco, Grapevine, among others.
General areas I serve: Riverside (and surrounding cities), Orange County, Redlands, San Clemente
Swim Instructor Bio:
I have been teaching swim lessons for the last 6 years and continue to do so. I have taught lessons at the community pool, for local swim teams, and for Happy Swimmers. I am currently the head coach of Indian Hills Swim Team in Jurupa Valley. I have been a swimmer for 17 years and my specialty is backstroke. I swam for CBU for all four years and my best events were the 50, 100, 200 back, 50 and 100 free, and the 200 and 400 IM. I absolutely love passing my knowledge down to the next generation, especially in the regards of competition. I do believe that EVERYONE should be water safe, but it is my goal to pass on my love of this growing sport.
I first began as a small community pool guard for one year. I then began working for my local school district and assisting at local parties of friends. I took a break from guarding to focus more on lessons and coaching swim until I began working for Happy Swimmers, whom I have happily worked with for the last 3 years. My number one goal in guarding is safety. I believe if an issue can be dealt with or addressed before it happens, it is far less likely to occur. The best thing about any job is interacting with the children. Parties are intended to be fun and I fully encourage it as long as it is safe.
34 years experience teaching swimming lessons and coaching; with Happy Swimmers for 8 years. Experience with: infants, children, teens, educational disabilities, adults. Specialties: (She can do it all) and competitive swimming; age group coach; member American Swim Coaches Association.
I have 3 years of lifeguard experience.
I started teaching swim lessons when I was 16, since I had just learned how to swim I understand the fear of the water. Not only that but with 4 years of experience now I can confidently say I can teach children how to relax in the water and then take it further from there. I want to be able to build a strong foundation in swimming with anyone I teach, and watch as it blossoms into a hobby or even a passion. A fun fact was that just last summer I two of the seven year old kids I had qualified for TAAF State Championship.
I’m looking to make an impact on the life’s of the people I meet. I want to be able to provide not only a fun but safe environment for everyone this summer. I enjoy the opportunity to be a role model for not only what a lifeguard should be, but what everyone should be in the water. Funny enough I didn’t learn how to swim in till I was 15 and now the water is a second home for me.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas, Forth Worth, Arlington, South lake, and Richardson, among others.
Hello! My names Victoria and I have been teaching kids to swim for over 3 years. Prior to swim instructing I was swimming at the competitive level for over 10 years. I love teaching kids of all ages and my experience ranges from teaching ages 4 months to adults. In my experience the earlier kids start the better, the water is waiting! I love teaching kids both the technical aspects of the strokes and also just helping them get comfortable in the water. Teaching swim lessons is so rewarding to me because I know I’m helping someone learn such an important life skill. A little fun fact about me is that I love to travel the world!
I have also been professionally lifeguarding for over three years! Lifeguarding is one of my absolute favorite jobs because I get to be by the pool, which I love, and also ensure that I’m keeping my fellow swimmers safe. My intention when guarding is to create a safe environment where all swimmers are at ease and having a blast in the pool. I love getting to watch people enjoying the water while knowing they are safe.
I serve the Sacramento communities of Elk Grove, Sacramento, Davis, Roseville, among others.
I been teaching Swim Lesson for around 4 years already using Red Cross guideline techniques. A lot of the times I use my own imagination in order to have fun an an effective learning experience. Some of my background experience touched special children that needed extra help in order to remain confident in water.
Every weekend in one of the pools I’ve been working in weve scheduled event parties with usually families or a group of people (avg. 50) renting the pool. Usually we had to decorate the pool in one specific theme so everyone will have fun. In some cases a lot of kids were involved so we had to be extra prepared.
I serve the Arizona communities of Tucson, Phoenix, Scotsdale, Gilbert, among others.
10 years swim instructor experience. I began swim instructing while working at summer camp working with young kids up through adults attending camps for the blind. Whether they’re a first time swimmer or an advanced swimmer, I love to see people become more comfortable in the water, challenge themselves to improve their skills, and enjoy the freedom and feel of the water.
18 years lifeguarding experience. My lifeguarding career started with summer camp waterfront. Not much can beat helping people of all ages and capabilities safely enjoy the lake activities for the summer. Camp provided a wide range of lifeguard leadership from water ski shows and group water games, to canoeing rivers and kayaking to islands, and to blobs and rope swings. As a result, I lifeguard preventatively so that people can continue to enjoy the activities to the fullest. Waterfront Lifeguarding and Scuba certified.
Areas served: Oahu Island, Ewa Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii Kai, North Shore
I have 4 years swim instruction experience and 5 years lifeguarding experience.
Over the past four years I have had a lot of experience with teaching lessons. When I first started, I worked as an assistant instructor for several programs with children ranging from ages 3 to 15 with a variety of skill levels. After moving to Washington, DC, I began working at the American University aquatic center where I was eventually promoted to Head Lifeguard of Swim Instructors. In this position, I helped to manage and teach the swim lessons run through AU Recreation and Fitness. The most rewarding part of teaching swim lessons would have to be watching the improvement and excitement of the student grow. My passion is to see a world where everyone can feel safe and have fun in the water!
I started lifeguarding at my community pool the summer before my junior year of high school. Five years have passed and I have worked at a variety of pools and events for communities, families, and high profile clients too. I lifeguard because aquatic safety is a passion of mine and I want to make sure that everyone can have a safe and exciting time at the pool!
I serve the DC metro areas of Washington and Bethesda, among others.

I really enjoy making a difference in peoples lives and possibly saving lives.
I am American Red Cross certified in lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED, and have been the sole lifeguard on duty for camps as well private parties for four years now. Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
