Phoenix Swim Lessons
Private Swim Lessons
Happy Swimmers started teaching at-home swim lessons in 1991 in Los Angeles, with 22 clients. In 1993 we began serving Phoenix, based in Scottsdale. We are the largest and longest established mobile swim lesson company Valleywide.
Phoenix is home to many fine swim schools and city programs, so why do we offer swimming lessons in this area where so many different lessons are offered? Some kids do well in boisterous social large group swim lessons, but many kids do not, and prefer the quiet, trusting setting of their own home pool and a dedicated, kind-hearted, patient instructor. Our Phoenix swimming lessons specialize in the latter style of teaching.
We can come to you in the Glendale-Peoria area, North Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert. If I’ve missed your community, and you’re close to these areas, just ask, we very well may be able to accommodate you.
Swim Lesson Tip:
GETTING RINGS on the steps or bottom of the pool:
Incrementally place the rings a bit deeper throughout the Swim Lesson visits. Suggest to the child to grab the ring with one hand while using their other hand to hold your hand for balance. Be sure to offer them your hand if you are taking them to the ring on the bottom, too.
Whenever going under whether for rings or other swimming or jumping from the wall, QUEING is key. What’s queing?- Saying “Ready… (Child repeats back, “ready”…. One…two…three. <and go under, or jump, etc. When taking a child under, do so smoothly and then take them back up to the surface smoothly.

Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.

Serving Gilbert and Chandler
Hello! I love teaching swimming! I have ten years of teaching people to swim at all levels- children, adults, and triathletes. I am a former NCAA Div 1 Swimmer from the University of New Hampshire and was a Assistant Coach there as well for one year. I have coached children ages 5-18 in addition to teaching basic skills. I can help you or your child learn to swim or improve as an athlete- mentally or technically. I love teaching swimming because it is a way to learn a life-saving skill and boost self-confidence as well. I have a step-by-step method to help children learn to swim quickly, but most importantly I use patience, creativity, and fun when teaching because each individual and their relationship to water is different. I will be taking 3-4 clients only in the Gilbert and Chandler areas. I look forward to hearing from you!
Swim teaching 11 summers now & 7 of them with Happy Swimmers!
I have been teaching since I was 17 years of age. I love teaching because I know I can help the whole family be safe in and around the water. I love all the knowledge I have learned and always like to teach them all I know. It’s a good way of giving back and having fun in the water. I practice synchronized swimming, Spanish, adult learn to swim experience, and learn to swim stroke work & a little bit of coaching.
I love meeting new people. I have been guarding since I was 15 which means I am experience at preventing accidents from happening. I have seen it all. I enjoy what I do.

I have 9 years Swim Instruction Experience
My swim career began in 2008 working for the local park district in Washington state. From the start I taught ages 6 months to adult where I was able to enjoy watching people grow in their swimming abilities. In 2011 I expanded my teaching to include not only the local park district, but our local YMCA to diversify my teaching method. At the YMCA I continued to teach all ages. I have had the blessing to teach students all all ages, backgrounds and physical abilities to include students with various special needs. As a mom to an active and adventurous 3 year old little boy, I know the importance of properly teaching your child to swim in the most caring, and fun way. A quick fun fact about me is that I absolutely love animals, and love to incorporate that into the way I teach my lessons.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Glendale and Peoria, among others.

A little more about me… I’ve been actively teaching swim lessons for six years and enjoy this more than any other profession I’ve ever been involved in. There is nothing better than doing what you love for a living and being able to teach and share it with others. I get to teach a child; learn life long skills that last a life time, as well as safety and the joy of the water. I’m always amazed at how students learn so much in a short period of time. It is also fun to watch them “Strut Their Stuff” when they become confident at what they have learned. I started swimming at age 3 and have never enjoyed anything more than the water. I have been a competitive swimmer, PADI diver and Coast Guard Auxiliary member for many years. Welcome to Happy Swimmers! I am happy to help.
