Austin Swimming Instructor
Caroline, Austin Private Swim Lesson Instructor
Hello! My name is Caroline, and I am a swim instructor in Austin, Texas, serving the central Austin, Round Rock and Pflugerville areas. I was a swim instructor and lifeguard for three years in upstate New York, at a summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains. I have taught children of various ages and swim levels, from learning what lake water feels like on our toes up to backward dives into the deep end, and all the strokes in between. I am CPR, First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid certified, I am bilingual in English and Spanish, I am an experienced outdoor trip leader, and I am a certified Montessori preschool assistant teacher. My philosophy aligns with the Montessori mantra of “Follow the Child.” I believe in guidance and support rooted in love, never in coercion. My job is to evaluate what your child is ready for in any given moment, demonstrate how it can be done, and encourage the child to believe that s/he can do it, too! My classes progress at the rate of my students’ needs. I believe the only way a child can develop a love of learning is to feel confident, capable, and inspired, and never pressured. I look forward to working with your little loved ones!

A little about my swimming background: I have been swimming as long as I can remember, I started swim lessons at a young age and kept on swimming up through High School on the City Swim Team. I started life-guarding in High School for the City of Austin, and worked my way up, becoming Head-Life-guard, then pool manager, and obtaining my WSI training. When I moved off to college, I began working for the City of San Angelo as a WSI, then moved onto the YMCA as the Swim Lesson Coordinator for 3 consecutive years. I moved back to Austin the summer of 2009 and became the Lead Swim Instructor at Lakeway Aquatic Therapy. I am now employed as an Elementary PE teacher and during the summer, I am here to help your child learn to swim! : )
