I have been teaching swim lessons during summers and year round for five years. I started competitively swimming when I was 10, and swam up until college when I played water polo and ended my career as the captain of my team. While I was in college I taught year round and because there was always a shortage of mommy and me teachers, I have a lot of experience working with children 3 years and under. I also love technique and stroke work because of my competitive background. I have an intense passion for the water; every time I jump into the pool I have a blast. Safety is my number one priority, I like to get to know children and work at their own individual pace. I try to show children that the water is not a scary place. Once children are having fun they are much easier to work with and more open to trying new things.
Also regularly serving Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, and Van NuysThis will be my fourth season with Happy Swimmers. I have ten years of experience training on the US Swim Team; currently, I am CPR and WSI certified. I have taught from Beginners to Advanced…from first time touching the water to assisting in stroke clinics. I also have a small amount of experience working with kids with ADHD, and Autism. After retiring from a 25-year career with Air France at the end of 2006, Rob created a consulting company that specializes in several areas including swim instruction. He began swimming competitively in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) meets at the age of 10. By the age of 13, he was teaching swimming to neighborhood children including those with special needs and those with a fear of water. Rob thinks that being young at heart is a reason that both children and adults trust him. “After all, swimming is fun and that is what has to be conveyed to a student. There is nothing better than seeing a smile on the face of someone who has just overcome a fear or an obstacle to fulfill a goal.” With teaching water safety and confidence as the number one priority, he individualizes each lesson to the needs of the student with emphasis on creativity and fun.
