Sarah Marie, Valley and Westside Swim Instructor
David, Burbank Private Swim Instructor
Born in Burbank, California and then raised in Tarzana, I am very familiar with the San Fernando valley. Ultimately, I attended Beverly Hills High and graduated in 1987. Playing water polo for four years in high school lead to a year with the Pierce water polo program before transferring to California Sate University at Northridge and graduating with a BA in Physical Education in 1993. After completing the teacher credential program at CSUN I was hired in the fall of 1995 at Hoover High School in Glendale as a physical education teacher. This year marks my 19 year at Hoover and have since expanded my credential to include Health Sciences education and a graduate degree in Educational Administration. Additionally, serve as a reservist with the United States Coast Guard in the capacity of a Marine Science Technician, Second Class regulating the shipping industry in the port of Los Angeles. My swim instructor experience covers both my high school tenure teaching a swimming class and working at a private health club teaching children to swim. Finally, I have experience teaching both private and semi-private lessons at residences before I joined the Coast Guard in 2003. Seeing my six year old son compete last year on his school’s swim team inspired me to pursue swim instruction again. My teaching philosophy is a blend of Maslow’s philosophy of self actuation and John Wooden’s goal of getting each player to achieve their individual best. Other interests of mine include sand volleyball, surfing, following various motor sports, and reading both fiction and nonfiction books.
Sarah, Northridge Swimming Instructor
Jacob, San Fernando Valley and Ventura County Swim Instructor
Emma, Burbank Swim Instructor
Serving also Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake.
I have been teaching swim lessons during summers and year round for five years. I started competitively swimming when I was 10, and swam up until college when I played water polo and ended my career as the captain of my team. While I was in college I taught year round and because there was always a shortage of mommy and me teachers, I have a lot of experience working with children 3 years and under. I also love technique and stroke work because of my competitive background. I have an intense passion for the water; every time I jump into the pool I have a blast. Safety is my number one priority, I like to get to know children and work at their own individual pace. I try to show children that the water is not a scary place. Once children are having fun they are much easier to work with and more open to trying new things.
I’m also open to swim lesson teaching in Encino, Tarzana, Northridge, Calabasas to name a few. I am CPR, Lifeguard, First Aid, Sports Injury Prevention, and Water Safety certified. I have experience with all ages, even Parent and Me classes with infants. I have taught children with various special needs. I have been teaching for almost 3 years and have enjoyed every moment of it!

That afforded me the opportunity to occasionally train under the eye of 3-time Olympic Gold Medal winner and current chief fundraiser of USA Swimming Rowdy Gaines. I have taught from Beginners to Advanced…from first time touching the water to assisting in stroke clinics. I also have a small amount of experience working with kids with ADHD, and Autism. Robert Bracken, Swim Instructor Booking Manager, and Client Services, and Senior Swim Instructor
After retiring from a 25-year career with Air France at the end of 2006, Rob created a consulting company that specializes in several areas including swim instruction. He began swimming competitively in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) meets at the age of 10. By the age of 13, he was teaching swimming to neighborhood children including those with special needs and those with a fear of water. Rob thinks that being young at heart is a reason that both children and adults trust him. “After all, swimming is fun and that is what has to be conveyed to a student. There is nothing better than seeing a smile on the face of someone who has just overcome a fear or an obstacle to fulfill a goal.” With teaching water safety and confidence as the number one priority, he individualizes each lesson to the needs of the student with emphasis on creativity and fun.
