Hi my name is Leandra Ipina and I live in Surprise, Arizona during the summer but most of the year I live in San Diego where I am currently attending college. This will be my forth summer teaching lessons/ lifeguarding and my second summer with Happy Swimmers. I have been swimming since I was a 7 years old and have done everything from swim team and synchronized swimming to junior lifeguarding. I love summer because that is when I am able to guard and teach lessons. I enjoy spending time with kids which is why I enjoy teaching lessons so much! Let’s have a great and safe summer together!

This is my second summer with Happy Swimmers! I have been a lifeguard for 7 years and a swim instructor for 6 years. Certifications: I am certified in CPR/AED, Lifeguard Training and WSI. I was also a swim coach for 3 years and a water aerobics instructor for 4 years. I have experiences with children who have special needs such as autism and spina bifida. I also have experiences with coaching. I was a rec. team swim coach for 3 years.
My philosophy is to get the children comfortable enough in the water to where there know safety steps to take in case they would ever need to use them.

Nelson has experience teaching parent/toddler classes, but specializes in the 2 to 5 year old range. He has experience teaching children with autism and children in wheel chairs He shares: I lived in Rio de Janeiro for 3 years and speak fluent Portuguese and I played varsity water polo for 4 years in high school. What sets me apart as a swim instructor is my ability to get children to feel comfortable with me and feel safe while they are in the water. I excel at teaching children the basics of water safety, basic swim techniques but most important, I teach children to love being in the water and that is something that will carry on throughout the course of their lives.
