San Diego Swimming Instructor

Whitney
Home in Carlsbad, CA

Other areas served: La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar & Caramel Valley. I have spent the last 3 summers teaching swim lessons all around the world.  Water safety instructor, Red Cross CPR & Instructor, Red Cross Lifeguard

For the last few years I have traveled the world instructing swim lessons. I have also participated in many triathlons and I am an avid swimmer.   My swim classes are so much fun because of my love of the water and passion for teaching. I focus on the client and how comfortable they are in and around the water. I have an Ease in method, meaning I will not move on to another skill until my client feels safe and confident!

Tyler Thompson

San Diego Private Swimming Instructor (as you can see by his Halloween Picture above, he works his students to the bone…just kidding.  He’s a gem!)

Tyler generally serves San Diego, Point Loma, The Beaches, Mission Valley, Anywhere within 30 minutes.

Swim Instructor for 9 years

Current Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Lifeguard, AED

Previously held: WSI.  Previous experience with disabled students, including but not limited to autism and muscular distrophy. Also, gaggers!

Tyler spent the last two years in Los Angeles, CA, directing the aquatics department at the Spectrum Club in El Segundo. Tyler headed the children’s swim program, using his experience with various training methods to implement a uniformed curriculum at the club that focuses on the “tap, tap game” or roll over method for early beginning swimmers. Tyler has experience with children of all ages, both competitive and recreational.

Mostly, Tyler believes that lessons should be fun. When the students forget and overcome their fears, they quickly adapt to the aquatic environment. While his lessons are controlled and focused, ultimately, there are a lot games that are played to teach almost any age to swim. Tyler also has Master’s and adult lesson experience, including triathlon and open water training, for those who have interest. He is a graduate student at San Diego State University, pursuing fiction and children’s literature.

I learned to swim when I was 5 years old and fell in love with the pool! I swam competitively in high school and college and have taught lessons for six years.  I have taught children of all ages and abilities ranging from beginners to competitive swimmers.  I want the children I teach to feel safe and comfortable in the water, while also having fun and feeling challenged.  I look forward to working with your child soon!

Alecia, San Diego Swimming Instructor

Including but not limited to: Pacific Beach, San Diego, College Heights, Normal Heights

10 years swim teaching experience (wow)!  Certifications: WSI, LG, CPR, First Aid

Special experience with: Special needs, autism, downs syndrome, etc.

I am a very patient person and like to encourage children to do some self-exploration in the water rather to use force when teaching children to swim.  I prefer to form a trusting student/teacher relationship with my little swimmers, using positive feedback, and words, phrases, and metaphors that kids can comprehend and/or relate to.  I understand that children are different and should be treated as an individual, working at a pace that is appropriate for them.

I believe in a relaxed, gentle, and no-fear approach to swimming. Safety is my number one concern for the child and second is to have fun!

Andrew, Swim Instructor in San Diego

Serving generally San Diego, La Jolla, Del Mar, Poway

I am Lifeguard, Title 22, CPR, First Aid, and PADI certified.  I have experience coaching many different water sports, from swimming to scuba, from diving to surfing since 1998 I am a graduate from UCSD.  Throughout my career I have competed at many Regional, Zone, and National competitions, earning All-American status at many different age groups.  I have experience coaching all different age groups and skill levels and find that beginning and novice swimmers are the most rewarding groups to teach regardless of the swimmer’s age.  My philosophy for teaching swim lessons focuses on the education of water safety and the establishment of one-on-one trust to create a skill-building environment.  The outcome is enjoyment and fun leaving swimmers eager for their next lesson.  I am currently enrolled in programs to aid students with special needs.  I hope to use my knowledge of downs, autism, and various other developmental delays for a future career in education.  Let’s go swimming!
