Swim Lessons Santa Rosa/Sonoma/Marin CA

Happy Swimmers started teaching at-home swim lessons in 1991 in Los Angeles, with 22 clients. In 2001 we began serving Silicon Valley, based in San Jose.  We are the largest and longest established mobile swim lesson company in Santa Clara County. We have now expanded to have staff in Sonoma to serve the North Bay area.

Why do we offer swimming lessons at home in Sonoma and Marin?  Some kids do well in boisterous social large group swim lessons, but many kids do not, and prefer a quiet, trusting setting of their own home pool and a dedicated, kind-hearted, patient instructor.  We specialize in the latter style of teaching.

Do we serve your area?  If you’re in Marin or Sonoma areas, the answer is yes.

Swim Lesson Tip:

When taking a child under, it is important to do so smoothly and then take them back up to the surface smoothly.  This is key for parents who wish to practice with their child.  We have seen it a 100 times over, that a parent, when taking the child under, will be very abrupt going under and coming up. The child responds to the force of the parent’s movements much more so than the actual going under.   Smooth and calm submersions are the key to success and helping the child to feel safe and thus learn quickly.  A child can hold their breath easily for at least 5-7 seconds.  That’s a long time.  Give it a try…. A thousand one… a thousand two …a thousand three…a thousand four…a thousand five…a thousand six…a thousand seven (plenty of time to do it smoothly and gently.)

Also, submersions are done not vertically, by trained instructors, but scooping side to side like a pendulum. This creates an air pocket next to the child’s nose and avoids water intake.
