Our Fun Guards go with the flow of your event. All kid groups are different and like different games. Fun guards will suggest games and play along with what the kids want to do for your event to make it extra special! 

The ratio is one Fun Guard to 15 swimmers. Kids must be over 5 and must be able to swim across the pool comfortably to participate. You must hire a lifeguard along with the Fun Guard for safety.

More Information

We require all customers to hire a lifeguard along with your Fun Guard. This is because when the Fun guards are playing with the kids, they are not outside of the pool scanning, enforcing rules, and ensuring that all swimmers are safe. Our fun guards are trained lifeguards and swim instructors, but that is not their focus when they are in the water playing. Fun Guards go with the flow of each event. Games played are based on age, group, and interest in the games. If your groups of kids have certain things they are in to, we will plan accordingly. Our Fun Guards really bring the fun, and are sure to get your entire party pumped up and excited!

The Fun Guard will be able to assist the lifeguard in enforcing rules to all of the children if they see anyone breaking them, as well as be able to assist anyone who needs help, first aid, etc. Cooksey’s Lifeguard and Swim Academy can support Fun Guards in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, West Hills, Calabasas, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Santa Clarita and more. Safety at Your Event

Please note that we require a lifeguard because a Fun Guard does not offer the same kind of safety that our regular lifeguards for hire do. This is because the Fun Guard is in the water and will not be able to scan the water to ensure the safety of the people in the pool. The Fun Guard’s main job is to make the pool party fun for the children in the pool, not to ensure safety. If they see someone that needs assistance, they will assist, though it is very difficult to see everyone when playing with kids in the water. This is why we always require that you hire an Event Lifeguard if you are going to hire a Fun Guard to keep your pool safe. If you are unsure how many lifeguards or fun guards you need, please reach out to us. 

Fun Guards are great for children between the ages of five years old to eleven years old. Don’t forget to book your lifeguard as well. Each Fun Guard works with children during the summer at one of our summer camps and has lots of experience getting children to participate in group games. They are fun, goofy, and make sure the kids are playing safely in the pool.

RUSH SERVICE OPTIONS
If booking within 72 hours of your event, a rush fee of $50 per lifeguard will automatically be added to your total. If booking within 24 hours or less of the event start time, a $100 per lifeguard urgent rush fee will automatically be added to your total. If we cannot find a lifeguard for you, you will get a full refund the next business day. If you cancel your event after payment, the rush fees are non-refundable and our cancellation policy (in our terms) is in effect.

Before confirming your lifeguard:

  • We cannot staff anything other than swimming pools (no ocean, lakes, etc.);
  • We cannot staff pools open to public, entire pool area must be rented out for your event;
  • Lifeguard to swim guest ratio. Our general rule of thumb is 1 lifeguard to 15 swim guests.
  • All children under 5 must ALWAYS be within arm’s length of their guardian while in the water. Lifeguards will enforce this so please let attendees know beforehand and plan ahead to get in the water.
  • If you do have a slide, you must request a second lifeguard for event OR close slide off;
  • Diving boards cannot be used while Happy Swimmer lifeguard is on duty; if you have a diving board it must be blocked off during event.

A 50% deposit plus any rush fee or auto-tip, if applicable, will reserve your date, which is our company minimum for 1 lifeguard up to 3 hours. If you have more than one lifeguard, the deposit is still 50% or auto-tip. If you go over the deposit you paid, please pay by credit card.

We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.

Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in.
