I’ve been a lifeguard for 2 years now and an EMT for 4 years primarily working on an ambulance in Los Angeles! I got into the Hollywood world as a Set Medic and also became a lifeguard where I began working on sets like American Ninja Warrior and The Floor is Lava. With my prior experience in the medical field and as a lifeguard I hope to being a sense of ease at every event I work. When I’m not working I love travel the world and experience new places as well as aquatic activities like free diving and surfing!

Hi, my name is Dean! I have been a lifeguard for three years now. I was first introduced to lifeguarding in the 8th grade, when I became a junior lifeguard. Lifeguarding is a huge responsibility, but it’s the best because I get to meet new people. My intention as a lifeguard is to keep the pool I am watching safe, as everyone is having a blast. A quick fun fact about me is that I played water polo and swam all four years of high school. Lastly, I am fluent in American Sign Language.

Debbie is a graduate of CSUN with a background in teaching Physical Education and Special Education for students with Specific Learning Disabilities. She had worked for LAUSD as a teacher for 37.5 years. She has also been a Professional Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor with the American Red Cross and LAUSD. She has taught First Aid and CPR for over 30 years and feels that it is important to give back to the community. She has a strong background in working with the community in planning and scheduling events for the Civic Center Division for LAUSD.  Debbie is excited to be a part of the Instructor Team for JTA CPR and looks forward to being part of the expanding Management Team of Happy Swimmers. In her free time, Debbie loves to hike, ski where ever there is snow, swim and travel.

Hello my name is Lydia Marie Arciniega. I have been a lifeguard for almost 4 years now and I have always been around the pool my entire life. I started my first swim team “The Barracudas” when I was 5 years old and I have been on one since my last year of high school! I have also been playing water polo for about 6 years now. I have been a swimmer for about 15 years, so I thought being a lifeguard would really be useful with my swimming skills. I really want to become a better lifeguard and strengthen all my skills.

I have been lifeguarding for 4 years now and have always worked year-round. I have worked at multiple public recreation departments and swim clubs. My style of lifeguarding is preventative, stopping accidents and injuries before they occur. Safety for everyone is always my top priority and is why I love to lifeguard events (besides playing with kids from time to time!). A neat fact about me is I play multiple instruments and am part of USC’s drumline.

I have always loved being in the water and sun and was naturally drawn to lifeguarding by the opportunity to help people every day as well as its perfect environment. I love my job because I can come home from work really feeling like I’ve made a difference, and because it enables me to be a lifelong learner as I gain more knowledge and experience. I’m also currently a lead lifeguard at my community pool, taking an EMT class, and am a microbiology pre-med student at Cal Poly and can’t wait to see how I can continue continue to learn & grow so I can positively impact our world!

I started working as a lifeguard for City of Glendale and LA County at the age of 17 and I have not stopped lifeguarding ever since (9 years!) I am currently an assistant pool manager with City of Pasadena (3rd year) and regional manager with Happy Swimmers (1st year).

Lifeguarding is full of responsibly but it is also very rewarding. You get to socialize with others, jump in the water on really hot days and serve your community.
Fun facts about me: I love traveling (Been to Dubai, India, Thailand, Armenia, lived in Austria and Iran, and this year I will be visiting Spain), and I have a twin sister!
