Dallas-Fort Worth Swim Lessons
Private Swim Lessons
Happy Swimmers started teaching at-home swim lessons in the DFW East Texas region and has never looked back.
DFW is home to many good swim schools and city programs, so why do we offer swimming lessons in an area that already has so many swimming teachers?… Some kids do well in boisterous social large group swim lessons, but many kids do not, and prefer the quiet, trusting setting of their own home pool and a dedicated, kind-hearted, patient instructor. Our DFW swimming lessons specialize in the latter style of teaching.
Are Happy Swimmers Private Swim Lessons available for my area?
• If you enroll in April or May, getting your lesson preferences are usually no problem with any of our local Dallas Fort Worth swim instructors.
• If you enroll in June, please do so as early in the month as possible, and have some greater flexibility of times and days that would work.
• If you enroll in July, please be flexible on your times, and/or know that some early season clients will finish and open up time slots for you to take. Ask our office.
Can we serve your Texas area? If you’re in the metroplex, it will be our pleasure to serve you. Call us at 512-333-2480 or email us easy on our contact page.
Swim Lesson Tip:
Goggles are ok for 3 year olds and up during lessons- IF they fit well and don’t leak much. We encourage parents to get quality goggles, like Speedo’s for children, not the $1.50 pair from the drugstore which leak incessantly. A decent, quality pair of goggles can be very useful in the early stages of learning swimming.

Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.

Hello! I have been teaching swim lessons for a little over three years now and it is by far my favorite job I have ever had! I am CPR certified by the American Heart Association and I am also a nursing student. I was on a competitive swim team for a little over 4 years, so I ham very familiar with all the strokes. I am currently attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and I love it. Teaching swim lessons is awesome because I get to work with kids. It makes me so happy seeing them progress throughout the summer. I want to make sure that every child knows how to be safe in the water and has a basic understanding of swimming. I have taught all ages up to 8 years.
4 years experience teaching swimming 🙂
I have been teaching swim lessons with Happy Swimmers for the past 4 summers! I have experience teaching all ages, but I love my 3-5 year old babies! We’ll have so much fun making splashes, blowing bubbles, and learning how to swim just like a big kid.
Lifeguarding for Happy Swimmers is the best job I have ever had!
I love summer! What better way to spend a hot summer day than by the pool soaking up the sun! Even better, hanging out with the kiddos, having fun, and keeping everyone safe and smiling!
I have TONS of guarding experience from community pools, universities, camp waterfront and slides, and even guarding paddle-boarders from the back of a boat! Let’s get this summer started!
I have been a swim coach for over 7 years. I have worked in both the public and private sectors. I have 2 years of experience coaching beginners swim team. I prefer to teach kids age 4-17 and adults. I tend to have the most fun coaching when the kids in my classes are high energy. I do my best to make sure my students are comfortable when they are learning to swim; I want my students to be as excited about swimming as I am. My favorite skills to teach are flip turns and dives.
I have been a lifeguard for just about 3 years. I have been a lifeguard for the YMCA and Lifetime Fitness. I mainly work as a lifeguard because I am studying to earn a nursing degree and working as a lifeguard allows me to practice some of the skills I will use as a nurse.
I serve the Dallas Fort Worth communities of Flower Mound, Southlake, The Colony, Plano, among others.
Home areas: Fort Worth, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington
As a swimmer of 18 years, I have hands on experience in the sport. I competed as a division 1 athlete at Texas A&M at the national level and international level. I have been teaching swim lessons for nearly 8 years, and have been coaching competitive swimmers for 5. I have some experience working with high school, and college level swimmers. I’m great with children, and love sharing my knowledge of the sport. I am CPR and First Aid certified, as well as coaches safety certified. I specialize in backstroke, but am capable of teaching and conditioning all four strokes. Fun Fact: I will be attending NYU to earn my masters in Art Therapy.
I’m your Region’s Manager of Swim Instructors. Contact me through the website contact form, for anything swim instructor related once swim lessons have begun with your instructor.
A little more about me… I’ve been actively teaching swim lessons for six years and enjoy this more than any other profession I’ve ever been involved in. There is nothing better than doing what you love for a living and being able to teach and share it with others. I get to teach a child; learn life long skills that last a life time, as well as safety and the joy of the water. I’m always amazed at how students learn so much in a short period of time. It is also fun to watch them “Strut Their Stuff” when they become confident at what they have learned. I started swimming at age 3 and have never enjoyed anything more than the water. I have been a competitive swimmer, PADI diver and Coast Guard Auxiliary member for many years. Welcome to Happy Swimmers! I am happy to help.
Hi my name is Timothy Nabonne most people call me TJ or Tim. I have done lifeguarding since I was old enough to pass the exam. Ive also had the opportunity to teach and work with kids of all ages through the YMCA and other programs. My intentions in guarding are to bring a mixture of fun and safety to wherever I’m privileged to do so. An interesting fact about me is I also teach country style swing dance and two-step.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas & Fort Worth proper, Farmer’s Branch/ Carrollton, Plano, Irving, Grand Prairie, among others.
Hi, my name is Travis! I’ve been doing private swim lessons for 3 years now working with around 15-20 kids ranging from ages 4-13. I think one of the things that make me special is my ability to connect with children and get them involved and happy with being in the water. The part I like most about teaching swim lessons is seeing the face of a child light up when they do something they thought was impossible. That feeling is completely unique, I also love that I’m influencing the kids in a positive way for the rest of their life. I worked as an AVID tutor at the high school and middle school level for 3 years as well! As you can probably tell I really love to teach!
I’ve always loved swimming! The idea of becoming a lifeguard seemed like a dream! Now that I’m finally certified I’m excited to do my best and to ensure the safety of all clientele. A fun fact about me is that I learned how to swim at the age of 4 and I’ve been swimming ever since. I even ended up competing at a state level on my high school swim team! I also was in Boy Scouts till I was 18 and left as an Eagle Scout!
I serve the DFW communities of Dallas, Lewisville, Keller, Irving, Frisco, Grapevine, among others.
I have 3 years of lifeguard experience.
I started teaching swim lessons when I was 16, since I had just learned how to swim I understand the fear of the water. Not only that but with 4 years of experience now I can confidently say I can teach children how to relax in the water and then take it further from there. I want to be able to build a strong foundation in swimming with anyone I teach, and watch as it blossoms into a hobby or even a passion. A fun fact was that just last summer I two of the seven year old kids I had qualified for TAAF State Championship.
I’m looking to make an impact on the life’s of the people I meet. I want to be able to provide not only a fun but safe environment for everyone this summer. I enjoy the opportunity to be a role model for not only what a lifeguard should be, but what everyone should be in the water. Funny enough I didn’t learn how to swim in till I was 15 and now the water is a second home for me.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas, Forth Worth, Arlington, South lake, and Richardson, among others.
My name is Whitney Spears. I have lived in Dallas for two years, but grew up outside of Chicago and in Fairfield County, Connecticut. I have been teaching swimming during the summer on and off for 3 years. When I am not teaching swimming I am in the classroom, volunteering, singing, cooking, performing or working backstage at a play.
Teaching swimming is something that is continually rewarding as I have seen many children gain the confidence to swim on their own. I began teaching swimming out of college and have continued to teach during the summers. I have worked with children ages 3 year through adult. All ages are rewarding in their own way.
