New York Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lessons

Happy Swimmers started teaching at-home swim lessons in 1991 in Los Angeles, with 22 clients. Over the span of the last 24 years, our client list has grown to over 600 families served in many areas. For the last several years, we have provided private lifeguarded pool parties to clients in the Greater NYC metro area. This year marks our second season expanding to do at-home swimming lessons to children for the Greater NYC metro community.
As you may be guessing, for our program you need your own pool, or access to a pool. A friend or community association pool is fine. We carry insurance for any pool we use.

Swim Lesson Tip:

JUMPS FROM THE SIDE: This is self explanatory. Jumps from the side must be done in the medium depth of the pool. Reinforce “Toes on the edge” before jumping so the child has good footing of the side. Reinforce the QUEING . “Ready, one, two, three, jump! ” Allow the child to hold your hand(s) if requested, but progressively through the Swim Lesson visits, move to holding only one hand, then jumping with no hands, then gradually increasing the distance, and eventually having them kick to you.
This was one swimming lesson tip in a series sprinkled around our website. For the complete list, Visit our swim lesson tips and FAQ tab, and to get more tips and specials, follow us on Twitter.

Allen Clare, Lifeguard, Swim Instructor

Bronx

15 years experience!

Serving the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut areas of Greater NYC.

Ever since a child I was always in the water. Being born in urban New York City my mother wanted me to learn how to swim. After completing all the learn to swim program levels, I decided to push myself further and become a lifeguard. Though I enjoy guarding, however my heart remains primarily as an instructor. Being able to positively change a child’s life, give them confidence in and out of the water is priceless. These are all things I wish to instill in my students, as well as my own son.

Being a lifeguard has been one of the most exciting jobs I’ve had in my life. Not only because it is a great responsibility but as well for the fun. A good lifeguard should always stand for safety, fun and being a good role model. All of which I can I promise to uphold.

Proud Parent to a beautiful son.

I have been teaching swimming for about 8 years. I teach all ages from Mommy and me (infants) to adults who are interested in learning. I was on various teams in my childhood and swam competitively with my high school. I enjoy helping individuals learn that the water isn’t so scary and is more our friend when we learn the skills. Fun fact my favorite stroke is the Butterfly!

I have loved to swim as long as I can remember. I swam competitively in highschool and as an adult I became an avid long distance open water swimmer. I have more than 15 years coachign experience. I started with young children in an afterschool program and have since taught private lessons to kids and accomplished competitive swimmers. I am currently a head varsity coach at the high school level and I also coach varsity water polo. I love to swim and be in the water and I love to teach people of all ages how to love the water too.
