Phoenix Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lessons

Happy Swimmers started teaching at-home swim lessons in 1991 in Los Angeles, with 22 clients. In 1993 we began serving Phoenix, based in Scottsdale. We are the largest and longest established mobile swim lesson company Valleywide.

Phoenix is home to many fine swim schools and city programs, so why do we offer swimming lessons in this area where so many different lessons are offered? Some kids do well in boisterous social large group swim lessons, but many kids do not, and prefer the quiet, trusting setting of their own home pool and a dedicated, kind-hearted, patient instructor. Our Phoenix swimming lessons specialize in the latter style of teaching.
We can come to you in the Glendale-Peoria area, North Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert. If I’ve missed your community, and you’re close to these areas, just ask, we very well may be able to accommodate you.

Swim Lesson Tip:

GETTING RINGS on the steps or bottom of the pool:
Incrementally place the rings a bit deeper throughout the Swim Lesson visits. Suggest to the child to grab the ring with one hand while using their other hand to hold your hand for balance. Be sure to offer them your hand if you are taking them to the ring on the bottom, too.

Whenever going under whether for rings or other swimming or jumping from the wall, QUEING is key. What’s queing?- Saying “Ready… (Child repeats back, “ready”…. One…two…three. <and go under, or jump, etc. When taking a child under, do so smoothly and then take them back up to the surface smoothly.

This was one swimming lesson tip in a series sprinkled around our website. For the complete list, Visit our swim lesson tips and FAQ tab, and to get more tips and specials, follow us on Twitter.

Phoenix Swim Lessons Staff

Amanda Wells, Swim Instructor, Bibliophile and semi-pro binge watcher

Phoenix

Hi there! My name is Amanda Wells and I love all things aquatic. I found my passion when I was eleven and saw Michael Phelps swim in the 2008 Summer Olympics. I immediately joined a club team and went on to become a lifeguard, swim instructor, and lifeguard instructor in college. During the school year, I teach eighth graders English Language Arts and Social Studies. My favorite thing about teaching swim lessons is seeing my students become comfortable, confident, and independent in the water.

I have been a competitive swimmer almost all of my life so swimming has always been one of my favorite activities!

Lifeguard:

I have been lifeguarding pools for 3 years. My favorite part about lifeguarding is that it is always a positive environment because people love swimming! I always make sure to scan the entire pool properly to ensure a safe experience for all of the swimmers. A little more about me… I’ve been actively teaching swim lessons for six years and enjoy this more than any other profession I’ve ever been involved in. There is nothing better than doing what you love for a living and being able to teach and share it with others. I get to teach a child; learn life long skills that last a life time, as well as safety and the joy of the water. I’m always amazed at how students learn so much in a short period of time. It is also fun to watch them “Strut Their Stuff” when they become confident at what they have learned. I started swimming at age 3 and have never enjoyed anything more than the water. I have been a competitive swimmer, PADI diver and Coast Guard Auxiliary member for many years. Welcome to Happy Swimmers! I am happy to help.

Vlad, Private Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, #TimeTraveler

Vail

I been teaching Swim Lesson for around 4 years already using Red Cross guideline techniques. A lot of the times I use my own imagination in order to have fun an an effective learning experience. Some of my background experience touched special children that needed extra help in order to remain confident in water.

Every weekend in one of the pools I’ve been working in weve scheduled event parties with usually families or a group of people (avg. 50) renting the pool. Usually we had to decorate the pool in one specific theme so everyone will have fun. In some cases a lot of kids were involved so we had to be extra prepared.

I serve the Arizona communities of Tucson, Phoenix, Scotsdale, Gilbert, among others.
