Hello, I am CSUN Grad with a background in Child Development. I have been working with children since 2018. As well as have been a lifeguard and swim instructor since the summer of 2018 and recently for the past two summers I have also been teaching aquarobics. My love for the water was born during High School when I joined the swim team and the water polo team. Once, I graduated High School I knew I wanted to be in the water in any shape or form, so I decided to become a lifeguard and swim instructor for all ages. A fun fact about me is that as much as I love the water, I love the dancefloor.

For the past two years, I’ve worked as a lifeguard for the City of Riverside, where I’ve gained valuable experience ensuring the safety of swimmers of all ages and responding effectively to a wide range of situations. Through this role, I’ve developed strong communication skills, quick decision-making abilities, and a deep sense of responsibility.

In addition to my lifeguarding experience, I was a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts for five years and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. That experience taught me leadership, teamwork, and perseverance—qualities that continue to guide me both personally and professionally.

Debbie is a graduate of CSUN with a background in teaching Physical Education and Special Education for students with Specific Learning Disabilities. She had worked for LAUSD as a teacher for 37.5 years. She has also been a Professional Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor with the American Red Cross and LAUSD. She has taught First Aid and CPR for over 30 years and feels that it is important to give back to the community. She has a strong background in working with the community in planning and scheduling events for the Civic Center Division for LAUSD.  Debbie is excited to be a part of the Instructor Team for JTA CPR and looks forward to being part of the expanding Management Team of Happy Swimmers. In her free time, Debbie loves to hike, ski where ever there is snow, swim and travel.

I am a Swim instructor who has taught lessons for 4 years. I enjoy teaching because I too learn something new each time I give a swim lesson. Swimming is therapeutic to me and I enjoy sharing the therapy with others.

Hi, I’m Edson, a watermen who has been involved in water safety for the last 8 years. I have worked with different departments in the LA area. I have experience the open water environment (lakes and reservoirs), the ocean environment (beaches) and the pool environment. My scope continues to grow as I continue to push the envelope. I enjoy working together with people so that everyone can enjoy a hot summer day at the beach, lake and or pool.

Edson is game to travel just about anywhere in Southern CA, we kid you not. He is passionate about guarding and has taken difficult to fill jobs off the beaten track to keep kids safe. 🙂

Hi! My name is Heta Mody. I’m 19 years old and live in Orange County. I’ve swam competitively my whole life and worked as a swim instructor and life guard this last year while going to college in Hawaii. I love to swim, surf, play basketball, snorkel, scuba, and play guitar!

I surf, bodyboard, body surf in the ocean on the regular and have done many years of oc jr guards. I take pride in doing a good job and taking life guarding seriously.

I serve the OC communities of Riverside, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, among others. 

I taught and swam all levels. From novice to competitive swimming, toddler to high school, adults and children. I enjoy seeing the look of accomplishment of everyone once they see progression. I’ve been a lifeguard for over half my life. I swim, bike, and, run. But running is my speciality. In 2017, I was the first American finisher at the Los Angeles Marathon, and I’m still working to improve my time. Hi! My name is Luisa Fernanda, I speak both English and Spanish. I was in varsity waterpolo and swim. I love fun earrings, reading, making art and going on long hikes.

I have been lifeguarding for about 2 years now and I would love to do these events because of the enjoyment it would bring to myself and the people hosting. I have done a few events already and I love the atmosphere of them and sometimes interacting with the people inside the pool. I also record music with friends and go on adventures to different parts of the world.

I have been a lifeguard since 2021, and I love being around pools, so I naturally gravitated to lifeguarding.

My style of lifeguarding is preventative, stopping accidents and injuries before they occur. Hey I’m Xerxes! I’m an auto mechanic/ lifeguard (as you probably might’ve guessed) and I’ve lived in Los Angeles my whole life. I chose this career because of my interest in the medical field, and swimming of course.
