Happy Swimmers Private Lifeguard Service For Your Backyard Pool Party
We had a Happy Swimmers lifeguard at my son’s 6th birthday party, Matt. He showed up on time, was incredibly friendly and amazing at his job. About 2 hours into the party the pool was packed with kids. I was talking to a friend when suddenly I saw Matt jump up from his chair, run to the far side of the pool and pull my 2-year-old daughter from underwater. He saved her life. None of us saw what happened and my daughter got lost in the crowd. I cannot recommend this company enough and will be using them again at every pool party we have.–James R. 6/1/2013
Happy Swimmers lifeguards began serving Southern California families 26 years ago, and have expanded to cover many major metropolitan areas nationwide from New York to Hawai’i. If you’ve seen our online ads, you are in an area we serve! With over 300 lifeguards on staff, know that we can serve your needs with our talented, and attentive lifeguards for hire. We provide professional, fully-insured, highly experienced Red Cross certified Lifeguards to supervise your pool party activity, keeping the kids safe, and giving you peace-of-mind. All of our staff are also current in CPR and First Aid certifications.
Why hire us over another lifeguard company or a freelancing lifeguard for a pool party? – We are the only lifeguard for hire company that protects you with our insurance for PROFESSIONAL as well as general liability insurance. Most swim companies carry general liability (slips and falls) but they don’t carry the more costly professional liability coverage. God forbid, if an accident happens no matter who’s fault, you want your guard(s) insured for you. Would you drive a car without insurance or go to a doctor who you found didn’t carry malpractice to cut corners? We cover you and your event, so you can enjoy the party. Additionally, please know freelancers are completely uninsured. Who checks their backgrounds and lifeguard certification status-expired? Our staff is professionally checked for these. We hire the cream of the crop with the best experience, and with us, you have a team of managers and a company to back you up if someone flakes. Every month, we get calls due to those flaking guards. LIFEGUARD SERVICE FAQ'S
How much notice is needed for booking us?
Many times we can fill last minute orders, yet to guarantee a specific date, 1 or more weeks notice is preferred. If booking between 25 and 72 hours/2-3 days notice (example booking on Wednesday, Thursday or early Friday for a Saturday party) we include a $30 rush fee for these orders. If booking with 24 hours or less, there is a $50 rush fee per lifeguard, with your guard assigned within 2 hours of booking or a refund given (rarely needed). Use our online booking in any case as our full staff is automatically notified. Our owner’s direct phone number is (818) 452-3996 (We are the only swim company listing our owner’s personal cell phone/direct line in our service to you 24/7!) Again, any lifeguard rush order needs the booking form completed first for fastest assignment.
How many lifeguards are needed?
Depending on the age group of the swimmers at the party, and the expected head count, our director Jenn, will guide you on this. One lifeguard is usually sufficient for up to 20 swimmers of varying abilities. If there are a lot of younger swimmers under age 4, we suggest the ratio be 1 lifeguard per 15. Safety of the little ones is our key priority.
Do the lifeguards conduct entertainment activities?
Our lifeguards are all highly personable and intend to have the kids have a fun, safe experience in the pool. Their key job is watching the pool completely. If the lifeguard feels confident in the swimming skills of all the kids present, he or she can coordinate some relay races, sharks and minnows games, etc. but must maintain supervision from the deck for the safety of all. If you are hiring two lifeguards, more flexibility in duties could be arranged with prior approval from our office.
Cost: For a party of 3 hours or less we charge a flat fee starting at $139 for some metro areas up to $209 for New York. Pricing is on your metro’s web page accessed below and is auto-calculated on the booking form.
Time above 3 hours: Each additional half hour is $25 (which is $50 per hour) per lifeguard. Our price is the lowest of any professional liability insured lifeguard company, guaranteed. We take payment through this website to hold your date, see link at the bottom to make your booking. In rare events, if you would need to cancel our services with less than 48 hours notice of the party date, we must charge our minimum billing which will be the amount equal to 50% of the booking. If canceling with more than 48-hour notice, we give a full refund. If you have a balance due at the end of the party you may pay it by revisiting our website to pay by credit card or call our office for our address to send a check. Any tip you’d like to give after the party to the guards can be made in cash and received with thanks. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. We have been in business over 26 years, and so many parents have told us they were relieved to have us as dedicated, trained eyes watching the party. It’s the smartest insurance policy you could have for everyone present!
What’s your refund policy for bad weather?
You can either reschedule or get a full refund with this condition: You have called/texted your lifeguard (or each lifeguard if a multiple guard event) BEFORE they make the trip to your event and express you are canceling the lifeguard need due to bad weather. You are free to reschedule rain days with no penalty this way which is common for our Texas and Florida clients, not to worry. However, if the lifeguard is on their way or shows up for work having not been reached before they’ve left for your event, we must charge ( and they are paid) for a base 3-hour minimum shift plus any rush and/or excess travel fee previously agreed.
Love and blessings for a safe and fun event.
– Jenn Tyler, Owner.

Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
