I am so very excited to have joined this team of Happy Swimmers representing the NorCal region of the company. Service is the watchword. Our team offers the best of the best, albeit Lifeguard training, CPR training or private lifeguard services. When I’m not coordinating and helping save lives, you can find me hangin’ at the beach, riding my bike or most likely, on my local private dancefloor aka my kitchen cooking up a storm for myself and my love.
4 years experience lifeguarding in communities like Redwood City, Woodside, Atherton, Menlo Park
Chelsea has now become a Lifeguard Instructor with Happy Swimmers and is entering nursing school in San Diego this fall. She says, I enjoy being a lifeguard because growing up I have always loved the water and I want others to experience that same joy. Everyone should be able to have fun and be safe while swimming. I have swum since I was a baby, but have competitively swum for 11 years and I also play water polo.
I am currently working my fourth summer as a certified lifeguard. I began my career at my local cabana club Los Paseos Association. I am currently working my fourth summer there, and also have worked one summer guarding for sports camps at Bellarmine College Preparatory, my former high school. When guarding, I like to maintain a strict, and quick to act approach. I like to shut down any signs of unsafely at the first possible occurance of them, making sure things do not escalate.
I serve the Bay Area communities of San Jose, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Saratoga, among others.
5 years experience! General areas served: Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Dallas (Willing to do any DFW jobs)
Hey guys my name is Drew and I’m currently studying genetics at the University of Georgia. I’ve been a lifeguard for 5 years now! I lifeguarded at Pleasant Glade Pool in Grapevine, TX for 4 years and last summer I worked for Happy Swimmers USA in addition to shadowing doctors and taking summer classes. I love lifeguarding events because it’s rewarding to know that I’m providing a safe and fun family environment for our clients. In lifeguarding I believe that it’s extremely important to be alert and take care of minor issues before they ever become serious.
Drew is also a Lifeguard Instructor in the DFW area.
I have lifeguarded at an aquatic center for one year and have absolutely enjoyed it. I intend to lifeguard because I love children and am happy to ensure their safety.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas, Plano, Arlington, Irving, among others
Why a Lifeguard at my age? I was teaching water fitness and I asked myself would I be able to respond to a water emergency? No. I became certified within 3 months. Being in the water has always been natural to me. Lessons starting at 4 and the Swim and Dive Team by 10. Fun Water safety and being water safe that’s my motto. Being older I believe I have that extra edge. That experience, the intuition. Call it loving what you do and enjoying the moment. Anything you enjoy doing you do well.
Living on Kaua’i island, Hawai’i most of the year, and traveling to Australia, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, and Houston regularly to lead Lifeguard Courses and CPR training, Jenn has been the director of Happy Swimmers for over 25 years. It is a passion to assist in the empowerment of children learning how to swim in a medium once considered a fearful, uncertain place, magically turned into a supportive, fun environment to be explored with friends. The same goes for lifeguarding and training new lifeguards–there is no greater inner joy either in saving someone’s life as a lifeguard, or teaching others how to perform lifesaving skills. It is an honor for me to watch my students grow–where once there was doubt or panic, now there is strength and confidence.
Thank you for looking to become a Happy Swimmer!
–Jenn Tyler, owner, and founder

Swim Instructor role: What’s better than feeling free, comfortable, confident and safe in the water!?! I want to help every child or adult I teach to feel this way. My love for the water started as an infant, and my love for competing started a few years later. I swam competitively for over 10 years and once my opportunities to compete diminished, I decided to teach. I taught swim lessons at the San Ramon Olympic Pool for three years. I taught all age groups ranging from 6 months to adults. I also have experience teaching lessons to children with special needs. My love for the water goes beyond swimming on the surface. I got scuba certified at 13 and I’ve been exploring the depths of the ocean ever since.
Event Lifeguard role:As a child, I was the swimmer the lifeguards hated. Holding my breath to the very last moment, twisting and turning under water, running on the pool deck, doing the “dead man’s float.” I loved swimming and hated the lifeguards for ruining my fun. I’ve since learned that fun can still be had while following the rules. As a lifeguard, my number 1 priority is safety! Fun is a must, but it’s second to safety. I have three years of lifeguarding experience and received Recognition of First Responder and Life Saving Efforts from the City of San Ramon for my role is saving the life of a 7 year old boy.
Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) role:Teaching the lifeguarding course is like teaching a sport. There’s the physical skills aspect and the psychological understanding and awareness aspect. My goal is to teach both. I feel successful when I’m running through the end of class scenario and the student’s know how to leverage their tubes for buoyancy, when to call for help, the holds and strap sequence for a spinal, and when and how to perform CPR. They are confident with their decisions and skill. I’ve taught the lifeguard.
CPR Instructor role:I’ve performed CPR and used an AED in an emergency situation. I am always scoping out where the nearest AED is in a building and running through “what if” scenarios in my head. I know what to do in an emergency and I have taught others what to do as well. I have over 4 years experience teaching CPR, first aid and AED courses.
I have been a lifeguard for 7 years, working for orange county parks and recreation at kelly park (rock springs), Discovery Cove Orlando, and now currently working for RDV sportsplex in Maitland. I have always had a strong passion for lifeguarding and helping and serving others. I am very excited for this adventure with happy swimmers and can’t wait to experience the different events. A little fun fact about myself is that I absolutely love the outdoors. Most days you can find me either hunting, fishing, or on any body of water possible!
I serve the Orlando/Tampa communities of Apopka, Altamonte, Orlando & Tampa proper, among others.
I’ve been an LGI for 4 years certifying people to be lifeguards for different cities, private and nonprofit organizations. I love to empower youth by providing them with skills that can save people’s lives.
Serving: San Jose, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Milpitas
Hi my name is Nick and I am a Florida native with a great Jamaican heritage. The reason that I first got into lifeguarding was because I got a summer job at a sleep away summer camp. I remember being pretty nervous my first couple times guarding. However, from that experience my confidence grew and after 4 years of that, I have learned so much about myself and my leadership ability. I acquired my lifeguard trainer certification and have put it to good use since.
The reason I love event lifeguarding is because on top of keeping everyone safe, I love being a part of the excitement going on around me.
I have been a lifeguard for both Ellis and Associates and The American Red Cross. I take pride on creating a fun and enjoyable aquatic experience for others while promoting safety according to the most current standards. I have experience in several setting and hope to further my skills and gain new experiences!
General areas I serve: Kissimmee, Orlando, Lakeland, Jacksonville, Winter Haven, Tampa
7 years experience lifeguarding. Serving areas in the Land o Lakes, Wesley Chapel, and the Tampa Bay Area
HI!!!! My name in Rakeisha. I am a Canadian student-athlete currently finishing my degree in Biology on the medical track and playing soccer at Saint Leo University. I have been swimming since I was eight and have loved the water ever since. I have been a certified lifeguard for seven years now and have done so for camp, family outings, Saint Leo University’s pool, and at my own house. Though I am not a certified swim instructor I have taught a few kids in my community, so proper certification is something I will pursue. I understand how fun swimming can be but I also understand its dangers so I make it my business to ensure a safe environment for those who want to enjoy the water!
Hello, my name is Samantha Tu and I’ve been a lifeguard and swim instructor for 3 years and a Lifeguard Instructor for 1 year. I started swimming when I was just a little kid since then I’ve been crazy about anything water. Once I became old enough to join a local junior lifeguarding program at the community center, I jumped right into that and began learning how to teach lessons and save lives. My hobbies include helping others, swimming, water polo, and cooking.
Samantha typically serves areas like Milpitas, San Jose, Fremont, and even the City and Napa–she gets around!

Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
