Ever since a child I was always in the water. Being born in urban New York City my mother wanted me to learn how to swim. After completing all the learn to swim program levels, I decided to push myself further and become a lifeguard. Though I enjoy guarding, however my heart remains primarily as an instructor. Being able to positively change a child’s life, give them confidence in and out of the water is priceless. These are all things I wish to instill in my students, as well as my own son.

I was introduced to guarding in 1973 when I finally passed a gruesome endurance test to become a lifeguard at a NJ state park on the ocean. Gruesome because the distance and sprint swims were in 64 degree water. I worked 3 summers, took 2 off, and returned for a 4th year. I also guarded at a lake owned by the university I was attending in Florida over the winters. Most recently, I renewed by lifeguard cert and began working at a local Y in October 2021 and have been working part time since then. Hello my name is Dano (Day-Noh),
I have been Lifeguarding for close to 5 years and have always loved the water ever since I took swim lessons as a kid. My intention is to prevent any life threatening injuries while on duty and educate pool patrons about safety in or out of the water. It is a commitment of mine to engage w/ the event staff and proactively develop an appropriate EAP (emergency action plan) incase we need to activate a rescue. In addition, to keeping a safe environment it’s always fun to play some pool games and share some swimming techniques with the pool guest. She has taught First Aid and CPR for over 30 years and feels that it is important to give back to the community. She has a strong background in working with the community in planning and scheduling events for the Civic Center Division for LAUSD.  Debbie is excited to be a part of the Instructor Team for JTA CPR and looks forward to being part of the expanding Management Team of Happy Swimmers. Hi, I’m Demetrius Jones and I look forward to working with you. I have over 9 years experience as a lifeguard working at large, high-end resorts and hotels, as well as small private pools and parties. I’m outgoing and personable, and enjoy working in all environments. I look forward to helping make sure everyone has a fantastic time, but is safe in the process.

4+ years of my experience was managing a therapy pool where we supported people with injuries, special needs and the elderly. My experience there (and prior experience) has helped me develop the ability to customize my approach to meet each person’s needs. During that same timeframe, I also taught swim lessons for 2 1/2 years; I like helping people feel comfortable and love the water as much as I do.

Other than lifeguarding, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Recording Arts and have a business doing musical engineering and production. I moved to sunny California earlier this year and am enjoying working here in both capacities.

I’m from Chicago. I’ve had a beautiful relationship with the water since I was a child. I was on the swim team in high school and the water polo club in my neighborhood park where I first learned to swim as a child. Years later at that same park I became a Lifeguard for the Chicago Park District. I later lifeguarded and became a Swim Instructor at Richard J Daley College and also at the YMCA in Illinois and in Hollywood, California. Since 2002 I’ve been a Behavior Specialist, Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and CPR Instructor at a non public school in Cheviot Hills (West LA). I work with emotionally disturbed children who are diagnosed with Autism, bipolar disorder, ADHD and a host of other Mental illness and psychiatric disorders. I’m originally from St. Paul, MN where I got my first lifeguard job the biggest municipal water park in the Midwest (Cascade Bay). Averaging over 3,000 people daily this sparked my interest for continuing lifeguarding after the summer season ended. I have been a lifeguard since I was 16 years old, which was in 2016. I moved from Louisville, KY to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2018 for college, and have not been able to leave South Florida since! Hello, my name is Kendrick. I’m a recently Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard. In addition to my day job, as a Fixed Income Specialist, I am an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 773 in Irving, TX. I made the decision to become a Lifeguard after completing BSA Aquatic Supervision & Water Rescue Training. I developed a love for swimming as a form of exercise following 20+ years as an amateur cyclist, and the addition of a few extra pounds. An important component of safety comes from “Being Prepared” (Scout’s Motto) for emergencies should they occur, but perhaps more practically, Prevention. I have over 6 years experience working with kids through scouting, and believe in living the 12 points of the Scout Law (ask me to recite them sometime ;). As a business professional, I strongly believe in providing excellent client service, and developing lasting relationships by treating individuals the way I expect to be treated.

In addition to the above certifications, I am Red Cross Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED. I’m Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana and have been living in the DFW area since 1995. I am the recipient of the Autism Speaks grant to provide free swim lessons to autistic children. Currently I am certified as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer where I have taught individuals to be swim instructors. I started one of the early baby swim programs in the United States in order to teach babies to swim float swim. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the State of Florida to approve new aquatic programs. I love all levels of instruction.

I am certified as a National Water Fitness Instructor and trained Total Immersion. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Florida Aquatic Council overseeing the development of aquatics in the State of Florida. Also, on the Board of Directors for the State of Florida to approve new aquatic programs within the state. Most of my lifeguarding experience has been in and around country clubs since 2020 and i loved it so much that i joined happy swimmers in 2021. I wanted to guard events outside of work so that i could meet new people that i otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to! Before that i was working as a swim instructor and as much as i loved teaching the little ones, it was too much on my ears and i couldn’t be in the water every day like i wanted to. That’s why lifeguarding was the perfect amount of enjoying the water while also being able to keep my ears dry (for the most part at least haha). I’ve worked my way up and now i’m an aquatics director and have the opportunity to still work events whenever i get the chance to. Since I was a child I was always close to the water, in my adolescence I spent three years in the national swimming school in Cuba, as swimming instructor since 1996 I worked several summers in Cuba. I grew up with a pool in my backyard and so I learned to love the water at a young age. I have four years of experience working as a lifeguard in indoor and outdoor settings as well as guarding summer camp events. My first lifeguard and swim instructor job was at my local YMCA back when I lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After I moved here to San Diego in 2018 I continued to work as a lifeguard and swim instructor in the much sunnier California weather! I believe that water safety is extremely important and so I do not take my job lightly. Hello, my name is Stace and I have been working as a lifeguard for about one summer now. Aside from lifeguarding, I also work as a Summer Fun/After School Care leader for grade and middle school age children. The thing I love the most about being a lifeguard is meeting new people and having them feel safe and comfortable in the water. I also just enjoy the ambiance and flow of the pool deck. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, which is where my love for the water has come from. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, creating different types of art, playing volleyball, and hiking.

I love lifeguarding and have been one since I was a teenager. I have experience in guarding town pools and big waterparks including both Disney parks. My favorite thing about event guarding is meeting new people from all over the country and being part of their special event.

My background is in the legal profession working as a legal secretary for many years. I stopped working to raise two children who are now young adults. My daughter is a teacher in the Portland school district, and my son is an artist who lives on the East coast. For the last twenty-four years, I worked as a Special Education Assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District. For twenty of those years, I worked with at-risk students and students with special needs at the secondary level. These students resided in a residential facility, and I worked closely not only with the entire school staff but with the social workers and staff at the residential placement. I am excited to be part of the Management Team of Happy Swimmers and look forward to working with you.

I have been lifeguarding since 1996, and first started with Happy Swimmers back in 2006. My goal as the “extra set of eyes” at your event is simple: to provide you as host the opportunity to relax and entertain your guests while swimmers of all ages safely enjoy your pool under my watch!

I have worked as a swim instructor for 3 years and it is one of the most fun jobs that I have had. I love helping children gain confidence in the pool. It is one of the most rewarding feeling in the world to watch a child progress in their swimming ability. I love working with older children between ages 5-12. I have experience working with young children and have been told that I have a talent working with scared children in this age group. I also have experience working with adults of all swimming ability. I am currently a master instructor for Lifetime Fitness.

I have been a Lifeguard for 6 years, three of those years I worked as a waterfront lifeguard at a camp in Austin, Tx. The last 3 years I have worked for Lifetime Fitness in San Antonio as an Aquatics Supervisor in this role I help run swim programming and lifeguard management. As a lifeguard my number one priority is keeping everyone safe and stopping disasters before they happen. I am a fitness enthusiast and I am currently in the hiring process for the San Antonio Fire Department.

I grew up in a hot climate and loved spending my free time at the pool with friends. Unfortunately, there were no lifeguards on duty at my pool so I’ve had my share of accidents around the pool. I became a lifeguard because I am passionate about safety and I would like to prevent the types of accidents I suffered as a kid. I have worked as a lifeguard in the DMV area for 4 years and have performed multiple rescues throughout. Apart from lifeguarding, I am an avid musician and enjoy playing piano as well as singing. Some of my other hobbies include soccer, acrobatic yoga, and tango.

Since 2010, I have been working with children in various aquatic and academic environments. I enjoy working with children because I am patient and creative. There is nothing more satisfying that seeing a child learn something new and feel good about the process. I have been a private swim instructor, a beach camp assistant instructor, a community swim team coach, a community center camp instructor, as well as a beach and pool lifeguard. I played JV swim team and water polo for four years in high school.

My most influential work experience has been completing two years of Laguna Beach Rookie Lifeguard Academy back in 2013. Since then I attended college while serving in various academic tutoring capacities. Hi my is Toby Molinary, and I love water! Since I was very small my family always loved going to the beach and pools. My love of water took me to many places, lifeguarding for the Boys Club of New York, to coaching their swim team ages 6-18 to working for a private family where I managed aquatics equipment and facilities, in addition to the utilization of all equipment on the grounds. My swim instructing background is being an assistant coach for my neighborhood swim team where I ran practices and meets working on kids technique. More recently I’ve taught lessons at an indoor pool, and worked with a wider range of ages. My specialties include teaching flutter kicks and breast stroke arms. What I like most about teaching lessons is seeing retained development in the kids swimming, a fun fact is I’ve been swimming since i was 4.

My lifeguarding background is mostly at neighborhood pools on a 2 guard system. More recently I’ve worked a 3 guard system at an indoor pool. My intention while guarding is to ensure all patron safety. What I like most about lifeguarding events is the people you meet, and a fun fact about me is I have two other triplet siblings.

Having worked as a lifeguard for a variety of facilities including beach resorts, swim teams and municipal pools, I understand the changing demands of lifeguarding for different types of clients, events and swimmers. I’ve been able to apply my experience as a free diver on the reefs of South Florida and a USA swim coach to lifeguarding, allowing me to create a fun, enjoyable and most importantly safe environment for swimmers of all ages and experience levels.

I chose this career because of my interest in the medical field, and swimming of course. Swimming in the ocean has been my favorite weekend activity for quite some time, so I’ve been gaining experience as a lifeguard so that eventually I can patrol the California coast.
