There is nothing more valuable than teaching a skill like swimming that will offer one a safe experience & can literally open doors to increased self-confidence & competence in any body of water—be it pool-sea-or lake. Years of coaching water polo & operating Los Angeles Jr. Lifeguard program enabled me to amass an enormous tool box of skills to help teach people of all ages to swim & handle themselves safely in the water.
As a 30 year veteran of Los Angeles County Lifeguard & Fire Dept Paramedic I know how rewarding & important maintaining a safe environment for the public & swimmers can be. Spotting & preventing danger is a learned skill that when actively applied can literally make the difference between a fun day or one wrought with tragedy. Turning people onto the stoke of water play is really a gift that should be shared with everyone.

Hi, I’m Ara. I’ve been life guarding for about a year now. Ever since I received my guarding certificate, I joined the UCLA recreation center, and have been life guarding there ever since. Aside from life guarding, I’ve always wanted to teach kids how to swim, for that reason I’ve been enrolled in the WSI class, and will be getting my certificate in about a month. To me, the most important part of life guarding is for swimmers to have a great time in the pool. And to that, I’ll be there to keep things safe. My first ever rescue was when I was seven, I managed to lift my two year old sister from under water 🙂 Way to go Ara!

Ever since a child I was always in the water. Being born in urban New York City my mother wanted me to learn how to swim. After completing all the learn to swim program levels, I decided to push myself further and become a lifeguard. Though I enjoy guarding, however my heart remains primarily as an instructor. Being able to positively change a child’s life, give them confidence in and out of the water is priceless. These are all things I wish to instill in my students, as well as my own son.
Being a lifeguard has been one of the most exciting jobs I’ve had in my life. Not only because it is a great responsibility but as well for the fun. A good lifeguard should always stand for safety, fun and being a good role model. All of which I can I promise to uphold.
Proud Parent to a beautiful son.

Swim Instructor Bio:
I have been a swim instructor professionally and privately for 4 years and have coordinates swim lessons and staff at an aquatic facility for 1 year. It is a joy teaching kids how to swim and watching them progress because this is the earliest form of life-saving in my eyes. If you teach kids proper swimming and survival skills they will less likely need saving from lifeguards although still possible.
I had been a lifeguard for 3 years and managed lifeguards for 1 year. I have always enjoyed keeping kids safe in and out of the water and feel proud of my knowledge of this safety because it can help people in many situations even outside of the workplace.
This is my first year lifeguarding and I hope to be a great one and sense of security for people. I love the water. A fun fact about me is that I am on the Varsity Water Polo and Varsity Swimming teams of my high school. I hope that I will be able to make great experiences while lifeguarding!

My life guarding experience started when I was just in high school. At first I was doing it for extra money so my intention was to get paid, now I take a genuine interest in the patrons of any pool whether I’m guarding or not; my goal is to make sure everyone is safe and most of all having fun and enjoying the pools’ environment. And that’s what I enjoy most because my life guarding experience now is better because I’m not worried about getting paid I’m worried about the people at the pool first then everything else will take care of itself.
Fun fact about me is I want to do a lot of things as a career so while I want to be a pool operator one day and own my own Pool Company I also want to be a producer and make beats for musicians and artists while also having a few artists skills myself. I have been a swim instructor for 6 years and love teaching children how to swim . The best part of teaching swim lessons is seeing the progression of my students. There is nothing more satisfying than when a student understands how a certain swim stroke is swam!
I have also been a lifeguard for 6 years, and before I could work professionally I was a junior guard for 3 years. I always wanted to be a lifeguard ever since I was 11 and started swim team and would see the lifeguards up on the stands. Hi, I’m Coco! I have been a swim instructor for a few years now, but have been working with kids for most of my life. It all started in Girl Scouts when I got to host my first event. I loved the energy the kids brought to the table, and from that moment, I knew I had to work with them. Experience in Girl Scouts helped me become a babysitter/nanny and camp counselor, and has eventually led me to teaching swim. Being a swim instructor seemed natural for me because I swam competitively in high school and love being in the water, as well as working with people. My favorite part about teaching swim is watching the child progress. The pride and excitement in their eyes when they finally master a skill they had been struggling with is priceless :~). A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is the polar bear and I could talk your ear off for hours about why they’re so fascinating!
I became a lifeguard in high school and am now in my second year of college. I wanted to be lifeguard because I love swimming so much that didn’t want to be away from the pool while I was out of the water! I am also very concerned with safety ever since I took my very first CPR class with my Girl Scout troop. The instructor inspired me to continue on in my safety education and become AED and First Aid certified, and then eventually become a lifeguard and get my emergency oxygen distribution and blood borne pathogens certifications. I believe that people should have only good experiences in the water, and want to do everything I can to make that happen. I hope that everyone is able to enjoy the pool regardless of their skill level, and always feel safe in the water. A fun fact about me is that I love rock climbing!

Hi, I’m Dallas. I have been teaching swimming lessons consistently since February of 2017. I teach a wide range of levels from beginning pre-school ages all the way to higher teenage levels. I work patiently and effectively with each child, giving each child equal time to work on techniques as well as making time for fun but educational activities. I find instructing an incredibly rewarding experience that allows me to pass on a skill to a child that they will use for the rest of their lives. I am a fully trained lifeguard with certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1995. When I was 2 years old, my family moved to Southern Utah, near Zion National Park. I grew up spending most of my time outdoors rock climbing, hiking, camping, canyoneering, and most of all swimming during the long and hot summers experienced there. After graduating from high school, I moved to Seattle, Washington where I attended Highline College. There in Seattle, I experienced great music, incredible scenery, and made many amazing friends. Through my college, I was presented with the opportunity to become a lifeguard and a swim instructor. I found a true interest and love in the profession, building strong connections with fellow co-workers, regular patrons, as well as the children I taught. This summer (2017) I was given the unique opportunity to live in Hollywood, California. Here I aim to build more strong connections and increase my increase my experience within the aquatic community.

I swam and played water polo for 12 years. I competed and won national tournaments in both sports. I swam and played for the Commerce Club Team and played and swam in Bell Gardens High School. Every year since I graduated I have worked as a life guard either full or part time. I have been around water since I was 8 years young and I know the worry that parents have over having someone professional looking after their kids that they can trust. I take my job very seriously and enjoy giving parents a day off where they can enjoy themselves knowing that a professional is taking care of their kids.
–Thank you Daniel for being such a pro! We love you!
In my first year as a lifeguard, I aim to keep people safe in an environment that I know and love. I taught swim lessons at camp and privately for the last 3 years working with children of all ages. I love helping children learn how to swim and their “aha!” moment when they finally get a stroke and become comfortable with it. I actually learned how to swim pretty early on. At the tender young age of just 4 years old I would swim on my own!
I’ve been lifeguarding for the last 5 years and teaching swim lessons for the last 3. I always keep a fun and safe environment for my patrons and love to see a smile on their faces after a job well done. Event lifeguarding is so much fun and you meet so many new and interesting people.

One fun fact is that I coach varsity high school diving.

Swim Instructor role: Growing up in the West Valley with a backyard pool, I learned to swim at a young age and got into water polo during high school and college. Water sports like surfing and sailing are hobbies of mine and I first started teaching private swim lessons shortly after I started my teaching career at Hoover High School in 1996. I still currently teach Health and PE while also serving in my Coast Guard reserve unit in San Pedro as a First Class Marine Science Technician. My son in grade school has been competing for two years on a swim team and loves it. All kids should have that opportunity.
Event Lifeguard role: Aside from the last two years working for Happy Swimmers, friends and family would ask me to act as a life guard for pool parties and functions when I became Red Cross certified for water safety and CPR. A good life guard takes preventative measures to mitigate potential hazards by identifying them early before the function begins. Done properly, pool saves are few and quick. I love the anticipation of potential challenges that each venue may pose and being a part of a random family”s fun safe memories they will have.

Every month I have four mandatory hours of in-service training and I swim laps each work day.

I just recently started swim instructing about half a year go and have loved every moment. The satisfaction the children get when they have learned a stroke or how to improve it is pure bliss. I feel amazing knowing my job is done when parents come up to me informing me what their child has done at their own pool. Ensuring safety is also a big role in this job and teaching children how to swim makes that so much better.
I have been Lifeguarding for two years now and have loved every moment of it. Maintaining a happy and positive attitude while ensuring safety plays a big role when Lifeguarding, enjoying the job just makes it that much better. With a lifetime of swimming experience and involvement in teaching nearly all levels of swimmers, from children to adults, I have acquired the skills to ensure everyone has fun in a safe water environment. When it comes to lifeguarding, I constantly have the goal in mind of valuing the lives of every swimmer in front of me as if it were my own. I know I am providing a great service and that is what will drive me to always keep my skills “test-ready” and alert for any possible emergency. I like to be firm but kind while guarding a scene.

A fun fact about me is that I can juggle really well and love to play the piano 🙂

Serving: D.C., Woodbridge, Dale City, Lake Ridge
I got my lifeguard certification in high school and started working at a summer camp in Yosemite called Camp Mather during the 10 week summers of 2015 and 2016. To me lifeguarding is less of a job, and more of a responsibility to care for other people. I have been lifeguarding for the past 4 years now, and in my time guarding I have learned a few things. The meaning of hard work, customer service, and above all the importance our job titles carry. To literally guard lives. I love my job, and I love helping people. It is my goal that everyone enjoys their time in the water, while all the while remaining safe.

Hi, my name is Glori. I started swimming before I could walk and fell in love with the water. I began swimming competitively at age 6 and did that through high school. I have also life guarded and taught swim lessons for 15 years. I love teaching others to swim and hope to share that love of the water with others. I also teach preschool during the week. I have taught kids and adults and individuals with special needs. I love swimming and want everyone to have a great experience in the water. My picture was taken in the Mediterranean sea a few years back.
Why a Lifeguard at my age? I was teaching water fitness and I asked myself would I be able to respond to a water emergency? No. I became certified within 3 months. Being in the water has always been natural to me. Lessons starting at 4 and the Swim and Dive Team by 10. Fun Water safety and being water safe that’s my motto. Being older I believe I have that extra edge. That experience, the intuition. Call it loving what you do and enjoying the moment. Anything you enjoy doing you do well.
Hello patrons, my name is Graham Thompson. Over the past three to four years, I have been an active participant in competitive swimming. I became interested in being a lifeguard some time last year, and got my certification early this 2017 summer. As an event lifeguard, I intend to watch every individual inside the pool, and out, like a hawk. However, I am no robot, and am more than willing to mix it up by supervising pool games such as “sharks and minnows”, while combining the fun with unwavering safety. A fun fact about myself that I am proud to share is that I was the captain of my high school swim team just last year during the August-October 2016 swim season.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Phoenix, Glendale, and Peoria, among others.
Hi, my name is Hailee and I have been a continuous swim instructor for 5 years now. Deciding to get my WSI certification has been the most rewarding part of any job I have done! I love the friendly and active environment that swimmers and the water provides. Until recently, I was employed with a city pool for almost 5 years. We catered to both seasonal swim lessons and swim teams. I have worked with ages 6 months – 76 years old and groups of 1 to 15! Swimming is such a important skill to learn and it doesn’t matter what age you start at. With some toys, games, rhymes and more, I love trying to make a fun and informative environment to learn in! Also, with a lifeguarding background, safety is my top priority for every lesson.
I have also been a lifeguard for 5 years. Deciding to get my lifeguard certification has been the best experience as a job! I love the outdoors and friendly environment that swimmers and pools provide. Until recently, I was employed with a city pool for almost 5 years. We catered to birthday parties, swim teams, swim lessons, meets, swim-in-movies, aerobics, and more with all ages and all sizes. With many rescues and continued training, my eyes are always alert for you! Also, for parties within size, I will offer in or out of water game time. Thank You!

I am a swimmer myself and swam on Red Mountain’s Varsity Swim Team in High School. Currently, I am going into my junior year of college pursuing a degree in Economics.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, among others
I first started swim instructing last year, working all seasons and now summer. I’ve taught kids from all age groups 6 months to 15 years old. I’ve also taught kids who are very scared of water and kids who are naturals. Previously, I competed on a swim team for 6 years, two in college and four in high school. Therefore, I’m very familiar with proper techniques and stroke work. Because I have also taught kids who didn’t know anything about swimming or just were just too fearful of water, I have learned to make sure kids are having fun while learning but are also safe!
I’ve been lifeguarding for three years, starting at a water park and now I currently work at a pool. I primarily guard birthday parties and know a lot of water games kids love to play. I always make sure the kids are having fun and smiling but most of all are being safe. Lifeguarding and teaching are my passions so I take my job very serious, however I always make sure to have a smile on, ensuring everyone is having fun.

I truly enjoy my job of watching out for the safety of others and providing a fun and safe swimming environment. I am responsible, outgoing, and I love being around kids! Fun Fact: I also speak Norwegian!
I’ve worked at Blackberry Farm as a lifeguard, and I love the job because I can help swimmers to be carefree and enjoy their interaction with the water. I am rewarded to see people happy and safe because a lifeguard is on duty. I’m really passionate about the idea of saving people, that’s also why I want to become a doctor.

I serve the Austin communities of Austin, Pflugerville, Georgetown, San Marcos, Driftwood, among others
I have been lifeguarding for 2 years, going to my third! I started guarding at a summer camp in Wisconsin and absolutely loved it! I enjoyed being outside making sure people were having fun while being safe in the water and occasionally joining in on the fun of splashing around in the beach area that was made from the river. I also guarded the Olympic-sized pool at the University of Denver where many activities such as water polo, kayaking, swim lessons, and swim competitions took place. As a guard I intend to create a safe yet fun environment for those who are participating in aquatic related activities. Seeing people laugh and create memories in these environments, while also being safe, is what I enjoy most about lifeguarding.
I serve the South Florida communities of Kendall Area, Doral, Homestead, among others.
I have been a lifeguard and swim instructor for 5 years.
I began my instruction career at the Rutgers University pool. I began with teaching adults and then transitioned to teaching children. I also taught a few children’s lessons over the summer at the YMCA camp. I thoroughly enjoy teaching children because of their typically energetic attitude just to be in the water. The most amount of joy I get from teaching is when I see the amazement in an adult’s eyes when they are swimming when they came in with the thought they’d never learn how to swim.
My background consists of learning to swim as a small child and becoming a competitive swimmer in my youth through to high school. I began Lifeguarding five years ago at Rutgers University, where I am now a Head Lifeguard. I also have experience being a lake lifeguard with the Frost Valley YMCA camp. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the camp. My intention for being a Lifeguard and Swimming instructor is to help make any aquatics setting as safe and comfortable as I can for as many people as I can. I enjoy interacting with energetic people, and being able to provide a form of safety and security for people that is very unique and in a setting where people can thoroughly enjoy themselves.

I enjoy creating fun pool related games to keep children active and staying safe at all costs. I am also the type of person who will confirm and show up early before designated time upon my summoned arrival for any event. I love what I do and I will show up with a smile on my face and be prepared for any type of emergency on hand.
Common areas I serve: San Jose, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos

I enjoy being a guard for many reasons but most important to me is ensuring a safe pool area so that everyone can fully experience the joys of swimming.
I serve the greater Boston communities of Boston proper, Quincy, Newton, Providence, among others.
I was a lifeguard for the large majority of last summer. Over that time I never had to save anyone, that kind of situation never seemed to occur while I was on duty and I hope to keep it that way. Being a lifeguard gives me another opportunity to keep people safe. I enjoy the feeling of responsibility, the interactions with people about how to remain safe, and the experience enabling me to help people in general. Being an advanced scuba diver, I honestly enjoy the underwater world more than the world just above the surface.
I serve the OC range County communities of Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, among others.
Lifeguarding has been a passion since I was a little kid. When I was a little kid, I was swimming in a wave pool and blacked out from lack of oxygen. Although the pool had many lifeguards, none of them noticed me. My mom brought me back and thankfully I survived. Because of that, I always wanted to be a lifeguard to make sure a situation like that never happens again and so that I can be the one to jump in and save the day.
I serve the LA communities of Lake Forest, Irvine, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, among others.
I have been a lifeguard for about two years. I am an attentive lifeguard, continuously scanning the pool and my surroundings. I was a lifeguard for a Day Camp at a lake and I not only guarded but also taught swimmers from the age of 3-12 years old how to swim. I love to play water games such as sharks and minnows, red light green light and relay with the swimmers. When I was younger my mom would always have to remind me to eat because I could swim all day if I had the option too. This is why I take pride in being a lifeguard it’s not just a job for me but kind of a lifestyle where water is my element.

I intend to improve upon my sense of responsibility and independence. What I like most about lifeguarding is working with people. Living on Kaua’i island, Hawai’i most of the year, and traveling to Australia, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, and Houston regularly to lead Lifeguard Courses and CPR training, Jenn has been the director of Happy Swimmers for over 25 years. It is a passion to assist in the empowerment of children learning how to swim in a medium once considered a fearful, uncertain place, magically turned into a supportive, fun environment to be explored with friends. The same goes for lifeguarding and training new lifeguards–there is no greater inner joy either in saving someone’s life as a lifeguard, or teaching others how to perform lifesaving skills. It is an honor for me to watch my students grow–where once there was doubt or panic, now there is strength and confidence.
Thank you for looking to become a Happy Swimmer!
–Jenn Tyler, owner, and founder
My experience in the water has grown tremendously throughout the years, for I began at the age of two. I absolutely love lifeguarding! I started at a camp for people with various disabilities and ages while I was doing my internship. I am currently in college studying recreational therapy. After my internship I started working as a lifeguard at Florida International University’s pool. I am great with children. I used to be a gymnastic coach for children ranging from 4-16 years old. I am a confident lifeguard that is not anxious about the work I do. I think the most important part of lifeguarding is prevention. I know all the signs of a distressed swimmer and I know all the situations that can result negatively. When I watch a pool I am focused on those two things. If prevention is taken seriously like I do, then a rescue or emergency situation should never take place. I love lifeguarding because it does not feel like work to me. I get to meet beautiful people and enjoy a sunny day. I look forward to lifeguarding your event!!
I serve the South Florida communities of Miami, Doral, Fort Lauderdale, among others.

I kid you not, John is on our list of lifeguards from anywhere in L.A. down to San Diego. Boy does he get around, and does a great job too.
My name is Joielle but generally people mispronounce my name so people generally call me Joi. For 8 years I swam competitively, but I now work as a very charismatic lifeguard, with 3 years experience. I genuinely enjoy people, like to entertain, and keep a smile on everyone’s face. I like to keep work professional, especially since I am in the job of saving lives; however, you will never catch me uptight. I hope as a lifeguard I can bring some “Joi” to the party.

My intention in becoming a lifeguard was to help prevent any family from going through the pain of experiencing a drowning incident. I love being a lifeguard because it makes me feel like I’m doing a job that’s actually helping people. It’s a great feeling to be able to get off work and know that you helped prevent someone from getting seriously hurt or injured. A fun fact about me is that when I’m older I hope to become an ER doctor.

The water has been my happy place since as far back as I can remember, but being from the Pacific Northwest, the weather wasn’t always the most accepting of my true love. So I decided at a young age I was going to go to SoCal for college, where I can be in the water year round. With this passion of mine, getting my lifeguard certification was an obvious choice, which I obtained as soon as I started school in California. I have now been a practicing lifeguard for the last year and a half, and I can proudly say I made a great choice choosing to get my certification. It has been nothing but rewarding and wonderful and I look forward to continuing my lifeguard career.
I have been lifeguarding for about 6 months now but I have been swimming and around the water my whole life. I’ve been teaching swimming for the past 5 years and currently swim for my college. I love being around kids and I take guarding very seriously, knowing that I am ensuring their safety.

Lifeguarding was an easy choice due to my natural love for the water. I started my lifeguard career in Bermuda as a Beach Lifeguard. The Bermuda Lifeguard Service instilled the responsibilities of lifeguarding and the importance of prevention. Thanks to comprehensive training, we have prevented countless number of incidents from escalating. 3 years in the Bermuda Lifeguard Service gave me the opportunity to lifeguard in Washington DC and Australia. I have gained lifeguard experience in marathons, corporate functions, lounges, recreation centers, fitness gyms, private homes, and even birthday parties. Anything to put the heart near the water.
I am certified globally through American Red Cross Cert, RLSS UK cert, RLSS Australia cert, NBLQ cert.

Hello, my name is Katherine and I have been a certified Lifeguard for three years. I have previously been a guard for Brook hollow Golf Club in Dallas TX, as well as events and parties. I also babysit during the summer for families who require CPR and lifeguard certified sitters. I am currently pursuing a degree in kinesiology at Stephen F Austin, in order to become an occupational therapist. I chose to work for Happy Swimmers because I enjoy the personal aspect of guarding for events rather than overseeing hundreds of people I do not get to communicate with at club pools. Lifeguarding for events and parties is a big responsibility, and it is rewarding to know that I am there to protect the lives of those who may not have that protection without the help of Happy Swimmers.
I have been a lifeguard for Arizona State University for a little over a year. I am also a lifeguard instructor for the school and am even a coordinator for the Downtown Phoenix rooftop pool. My goal as a lifeguard is to create a fun and safe environment for my patrons in and around the pool.
I serve the Phoenix communities of Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, among others
I have been working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for over 12 years. I began my water experience at the age of 14 when I played water polo. Along with water polo I participated in swimming, my high school and college surf teams. I love being in the water and helping others in the skills to be safe, successful, and have fun in the water. I have taught swim lessons from babies to adults and I feel comfortable and confident working with any type of swimmer. I am looking forward to teaching you or your swimmer the best swimming skills around!
As a lifeguard I pride myself in the recognition of when a swimmer can be in distress and to prevent any incidents. I am looking forward to a Sunny San Diego Summer with all swimmers out there!
I have 4 years lifeguarding experience.
I am proud to say Lifeguarding has become a way of life for me. I have ALWAYS lived by the water as I was born and raised in South Florida before relocating to Los Angeles. I bring to you multiple years of experience as a Head Lifeguard at my local YMCA, a lifeguard for triathlons, lakes, pools, any body of water, you name it, I’ve guarded it. Safety is my number one priority as I have seen far too many unnecessary boo-boo’s during my career. I am an extremely approachable and outgoing person who loves to have fun and I always find myself going above and beyond to ensure everyone is having an exceptional time. I pride myself on my core values of respect, integrity, dependability, and honesty. When I arrive at your home or event, you can expect and I will deliver the utmost amount of professionalism and safety.
I serve the LA metro communities of Santa Monica, Inglewood, El Segundo, Culver City, Playa Vista, Manhattan Beach, among others.
Hello, my name is Kendrick. I’m a recently Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard. In addition to my day job, as a Fixed Income Specialist, I am an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 773 in Irving, TX. I made the decision to become a Lifeguard after completing BSA Aquatic Supervision & Water Rescue Training. I developed a love for swimming as a form of exercise following 20+ years as an amateur cyclist, and the addition of a few extra pounds. An important component of safety comes from “Being Prepared” (Scout’s Motto) for emergencies should they occur, but perhaps more practically, Prevention. I have over 6 years experience working with kids through scouting, and believe in living the 12 points of the Scout Law (ask me to recite them sometime ;). As a business professional, I strongly believe in providing excellent client service, and developing lasting relationships by treating individuals the way I expect to be treated.
In addition to the above certifications, I am Red Cross Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED. I’m Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana and have been living in the DFW area since 1995. I completed my Bachelor’s in 1991 at University of Southwestern LA. I Eventually earned my MBA at University of Dallas in 2002. When not involved with work or scouting, you’ll likely find me either in the pool, on the bike, or thinking about one of the above. Other interest include cooking (indoors & out), geocaching, and in general pushing myself to learn and do new things; rest is good too 🙂
Having a qualified and responsible Lifeguard is very important in keeping kids and adults safe at your events. I’m very honored to be part of the Happy Swimmers Guard Staff!
I look forward to working with you!!!
I serve the DFW communities of Irving, Dallas, Arlington, Southlake, among others
I have 2 years Swim Instruction, Coaching, & lifeguard experience.
As a swim instructor, I teach kids to not only learn how to swim but to love swimming. I want them to be safe in the water and not depend on anyone else to help them. What I enjoy most about teaching anyone how to swim is seeing their progress and seeing them start to really love swimming and enjoy being in water. I love taking a kid who was originally scared and timid in the water and getting them to absolutely love swimming and love coming to swim lessons. Teaching swim lessons is a very fulfilling job and I love feeling like I have an impact on a child’s life. I still remember my swim instructor from when I first learned how to swim and I hope that the kids I teach will remember me and all I teach them. I have taught over 100 people ranging all different age groups, from as young as 6 months old to adults over 50. I was also a part time swim coach for a summer league team and a year-round team. I’m great with teaching freestyle and backstroke and moderate on teaching the harder strokes breaststroke and butterfly. I have also taught some more experienced kids how to do dives and flip turns. I have taken kids from fearing the water to swimming all the way across a 25-meter pool with no help.

Ocean Lifeguard qualified and pools.
My background as a lifeguard includes 12 years of Ocean experience including Surfing, Diving, and Swimming. I have been a lifeguard for 1 year now, and during that year I was a Surf Instructor for kids and adults ages ranging from 6 to 45. I also have guarded multiple private events for Happy Swimmers. Through watching 45 kids in the ocean, saving people from rip currents, and guarding at a pool party, I have gained first hand experience as to what it takes to be a successful Lifeguard. I know water is a dangerous place for both kids and adults, and I want to use my experience to protect everyone around me. I enjoy giving people that sense of safeness because I am watching them or their kids, and I enjoy being outside and anything to do with water.

I have been a lifeguard for 8 years I have taught swim lessons for 5 years.
As a young child I began my teaching career babysitting my younger siblings in the shoreline of Haleiwa, where we were raised. We grew up in the ocean learning to dive, sail, fish and surf, and I never missing an opportunity to learn more about the water. I passes on what I knew to my siblings and as a young adult began teaching others as well. After graduating from Kamehameha Schools, I began beach guarding for the City and County of Honolulu as well as Hawaiian Water Patrol, both specializing on beaches along the North Shore of Oahu. I continue to serve this duty and teach the youth thru programs like Jr. Lifeguards and Surfers Healing, a non-profit organization that takes/teaches children with autism how to surf.
My name is Kyle Swardenski and I am currently a student at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. I am a member of the Men’s Swimming and Diving team and am studying Travel Industry Management. I am also an avid surfer and waterman who loves watching others find enjoyment in the ocean and pool. Hey I’m Kyle, and I moved to Honolulu from Orange County, New York about a year and a half ago to study nursing at Hawaii Pacific University. When I lived in New York, I was a lifeguard for about three years, although in New York, the lifeguarding season is typically only during the Summer. For two Summers I independently lifeguarded at various sized private pools in New York and New Jersey that ranged from having 0 – 40 patrons of all ages in the pool at any given time. The Summer after that, I worked in a team of lifeguards at the YMCA on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York to supervise two separate very large and busy pools. Throughout my 3 years of lifeguarding, I or one of my team members have never had enter the water to save a drowning victim while I was on the clock because myself and my team have successfully prevented any serious emergencies before they happened.
I serve the Honolulu communities of Honolulu, Kailua, Kaneohe, among others.
I began swimming at 1.5 years old and I have been involved in competitive swimming for over 20 years. I have coached a swim team of various ages of swimmers from 4 to 18 and I am an event lifeguard for all ages and pool sizes. I also instruct swim lessons to infants, children, and adults. In addition, I am a CPR instructor across the city of Los Angeles. Outside of aquatics, I am a certified NASM personal trainer.
Swim teaching 11 summers now & 7 of them with Happy Swimmers!
I have been teaching since I was 17 years of age. I love teaching because I know I can help the whole family be safe in and around the water. I love all the knowledge I have learned and always like to teach them all I know. It’s a good way of giving back and having fun in the water. I practice synchronized swimming, Spanish, adult learn to swim experience, and learn to swim stroke work & a little bit of coaching.
I love meeting new people. I have been guarding since I was 15 which means I am experience at preventing accidents from happening. I have seen it all. I enjoy what I do.
Home in Youngtown, Arizona
I started lifeguarding during high school and loved it, I worked at a country club that also hosted corporate and private events, I soon realized that the days of those events were my favorite to work. My intention when guarding is to keep everyone safe and happy while in and around the pool. What I love most about lifeguarding is all the interesting people you get to meet, and a fun fact about me is while I am a collegiate athlete and I swim 3 times a week for my training I am actually a pole vaulter on a track team!
I serve the NYC communities of New York, Stamford, Fairfield,
Hey ya’ll! My name is Lauren and I am happy to serve you here at Happy Swimmers. Along with being a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, I also am a swim instructor. I have taught swim lessons for two years at a public pool. The age group I have experience teaching with is toddler through school age. However I can assist any age group, kids are just so fun! Seeing kids progress is what makes my job fun. I love to see children grow in their skills and become comfortable in the water.
A fun fact about me– I know American Sign Language! Maybe I can teach you a few signs!
Hello everyone! My name is Lauren and I have been an American Cross Certified Lifeguard for 3 years. I began my lifeguarding experience at a public pool and progressed from there to working for an after school program. Now, I am here at Happy Swimmers.
I have been a lifeguard for 3 years.
My goal as a lifeguard is your child/children’s safety. I take a preventative approach and try to stop the hazard before it happens. However, real life doesn’t always work like that; rest assured I am trained to act and do the best I can to ensure patrons’ safety.
My favorite part of lifeguarding is seeing everyone have fun. Swimming and water activities are one of the best parts of summer.
A fun fact about me–I attend The University of Texas at Austin and am majoring in Speech Language Pathology with a minor in American Sign Language.
Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m so glad to be a part of the Happy Swimmers team! I have spent most of my life in a swimming pool and have 12 years of competitive swim experience under my belt. For the last few years, I’ve served as a mentor/coach to the young swimmers on a local Arizona swim team. To me, it is so important to learn how to swim, and it is equally important to learn how to love swimming. I can work with any level, starting with teaching to love and be comfortable in the pool all the way through to the specifics of strokes and turns in competition. A fun fact about me is that I broke a 25 year standing record in backstroke when I was 8 years old and that I just got back from working in Australia! Can’t wait to work with you!
I have been a lifeguard for one year and am extremely comfortable in the pool and watching over it. To me, it is very important to have lots of fun in the pool, but safety is always number one. I want to make sure everyone at your party is having a great time while keeping it safe.

Lifeguarding in the Summer is one of the best jobs for a college student I believe. What’s more fun then being by the water and soaking in the sun in the midst of Summer? I remember going to the pool every summer and talking to the lifeguards. I always thought they looked so cool and what kid didn’t want to be cool? I have guarded for a little more then a year now and I can honestly say I love it knowing the importance of saving one’s life or being able to prevent a terrible accident is a very important job. Makes you feel like a bit of a hero.

Hi my name is Matthew. I love life guarding and providing a safe environment for kids to swim in. A fun fact about me is that I lived in Madagascar for 2 years and learned to speak Malagasy.
Serving Washington DC, Baltimore area, All of northern VA, Loundon County, Fairfax County.
I’ve had three years of lifeguarding history at three companies. My goal whenever I’m lifeguarding is to prevent as many possible rescues before they even can take place. As I have only had to make one save in the past three years, this could have been a much greater number if had not been vigilant of my surroundings at all times. The thing l like most about lifeguarding events is I’m in charge of so many people’s lives it’s nerve wracking of course but it’s also gives me a sense of authority that when it comes down to it I have to act to save someone’s life.~~great awareness, Matthew and thanks for bringing your A-game 🙂 owner Jenn
Typical areas I serve include: Austin metro: Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park

I have been a lifeguard for over 4 years now. It seemed like the best job for me to do since I have been around the water ever since I was a little boy. I love going to these lifeguard events and seeing all the kids having a great time because it reminds me of when I was young and would go to the pool all the time. I love being the ‘cool’ lifeguard that kids can play with but at the same time I always make sure kids are being safe and everything is under control.
With four years of lifeguarding experience in swimming pools and in a Waterpark, I am confident in my ability to not only make swimming, for anyone of all ages, safe and also fun. It is no doubt that I will be excited to guard each and every event that I arrive at, making it my goal to leave each job knowing that everyone had a good time and was worry free. I am also willing to be an extra set of hands for your event if needed with set up, take down, or food testing! 😉 My picture was taken while I was at work, not only as a Lifeguard, but as a Junior Lifeguard Camp Counselor!
I serve the Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, among others.
I’ve been a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, and swim coach on and off for the past six years. I come from a family of swimmers and spent so many days as a kid at the local pool that it feels like I grew up there. I greatly enjoy spending time in and around the water and love to help people have a safe, fun experience!
General areas I’ve served:Fairfax, McLean, Leesburg, DC
I have been a lifeguard for 7 years, working for orange county parks and recreation at kelly park (rock springs), Discovery Cove Orlando, and now currently working for RDV sportsplex in Maitland. I have always had a strong passion for lifeguarding and helping and serving others. I am very excited for this adventure with happy swimmers and can’t wait to experience the different events. A little fun fact about myself is that I absolutely love the outdoors. Most days you can find me either hunting, fishing, or on any body of water possible!
I serve the Orlando/Tampa communities of Apopka, Altamonte, Orlando & Tampa proper, among others.
A little over ten years ago, I was drawn to lifeguarding; as a competitive swimmer, I had a deep passion for the water, and wanted to ensure that others were able to enjoy the water (hopefully as much as I do), safely. Since I first got my certification, I have expanded my qualifications to include Emergency Medical Technician and several military related swimming instructor and responder qualifications. They were a natural fit for me because I have been a swimmer forever; from the time I was small, through high school, and even at the Coast Guard Academy, where I graduated in 2014 with a BS in Civil Engineering, swimming has always been my first love. Fun fact: I have acted as a lifeguard in in more countries than states (6 countries/4 states)! I look forward to working with you!
I serve the South Florida communities of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Brickell, Pembroke Pines, among others.
I have over 11 years of lifeguarding experience, working with youth of all ages, as well as adults. I have also worked with youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Common areas I typically serve include Burleson, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, North Richlamd Hills
I have had 2 years professional lifeguarding experience.
I have been a lifeguard since I was in high school and liked the idea of being someone’s “hero” in severe situations. I have never personally had any encounters where I had to save an endangered life, as I focus on prevention, but I know when the time comes I will be prepared to tackle the situation head-on.
I serve the Orange County communities of Irvine, rancho santa margarita, South LA, and Oceanside, among others.
I love the ocean, whether it’s swimming, snorkeling, surfing, or conservation, everything about it is great to me. I love spending time in and around the water, and it is my responsibility and obligation to make sure that people are safe when enjoying themselves around water, whether it’s a pool or the ocean. I became a lifeguard to help save lives and prevent injury whenever I can, and I intend to do so to the best at my ability on or off duty. Thank you!
I serve the Miami communities of Ft. Lauderdale, Boca/Delray, West Palm, Miami proper, among others.
Hi, my name is Micah Wong. I enjoy lifeguarding, I like being in this type of background. I am also a student in college. I am currently enrolled in the fire and emergency response program at HCC. I’m looking to go into that field later on. One thing that I enjoy about being a lifeguard is that you meet a lot of different people which makes for a good experience. A fun fact about me is I’m into sports and I like to surf.
In the past, I worked at a series of public pools in my community. My intention in guarding is to gain experience and build relationships with new people. I love to talk to new people with different backgrounds and stories. Meeting new people everyday have probably been some of my favorite experiences while guarding.
I serve the Washington DC metro communities of (Maryland)Bowie, Crofton, Annapolis, Laurel, Columbia, among others.
I’d love to gain as much experience as possible in lifeguarding, possibly becoming a LG instructor in the near future, while making sure everyone is safe and having a good time! I’m fluent in English and Greek and love getting to know different people from different areas of the world.

Hi, my name is Miriam and I’ve been a lifeguard for 3 years now. I love lifeguarding because it allows me to save people from drowning and helps me make a difference in the world for others. Lifeguard events are my favorite places to lifeguard at because I love meeting new people and being able to save lives at the same time. I also did competitive USA swimming for 7 years so I’m a great swimmer and I always make sure everyone stays safe!
Last summer I lifeguarded at a summer camp, spending my afternoons watching kids splash in the river and my nights applying aloe vera. Lifeguarding to me is all about making sure the most fun is possibly had by my swimmers while still staying safe. Lifeguarding isn’t about ruining fun or being a buzzkill, it’s about making sure everyone has the best possible time in a safe environment!
I have been teaching swimming lessons for three years now and I enjoy teaching kids the most because they are sponges. They learn quickly and I find it very rewarding to see a child’s progress. I also like teaching adults because you can rationalize with them when it comes to fear or their corrections. Teaching lessons is enjoyable for me because I know what it’s like to have that fear of the water and I love helping people get over that.
I have been lifeguarding for three summers too and working in different pools has taught me to be aware of surroundings that you would think wouldn’t cause any trouble. I like lifeguarding events because not only am I guarding lives, I also get to see kids having fun and it reminds me of my childhood. One fun fact about me is that I didn’t know how to swim when I joined water polo in high school, I was actually terrified of the water.

I’m a very patient instructor, having been in education for close to 28 years as a teacher and university professor. I’ve worked with all age levels. The best part of my day is when your child actually realizes that they can be successful and swims to me unaided. It’s very rewarding! I look forward to meeting you and your family!
Lifeguard Bio: As a parent and a lifeguard, safety has always been my number one concern around a pool. I am diligent at my position and take it very seriously. I’ve worked small family parties, and also at large public pools. I look forward to caring for your needs!!

5 years experience teaching swim lessons!
Areas served: I’m willing to cover a wide area of northern LA! I go as far west to Thousand Oaks, to the most eaters point of of Glendale!
Swim Teaching: Hi there! I come from a long background of aquatics, and am always up for a challenge! I get my teaching experience and understanding on the mechanics of swimming, firsthand from 4 years of swimming on my high school team. I began coaching in the spring of 2012 for a small swim instruction company based in Moorpark CA, while simultaneously volunteering with the special olympics for three seasons as a coach in the SanFernando Valley. I pride myself on the fundamentals of water safety, on all levels of learning. I push the boundaries of comfort for my students at times (just as in any challenging subject of learning) but never force students, or have them do anything that exceeds their own abilities. I am patient dedicated, and have the same level of respect for ALL.
Lifeguard for Hire work: Vigilant, preventative, and alert, are all words that belong with a pool side lifeguard on duty. I can help bring a little extra peace of mind to any event or occasion. I bring to the table tactics similar to those of my swim lessons. On duty, I am constantly on the lookout for any possible problem(s), and to the best of my abilities prevent whatever I can before it happens. Water safety is my #1priority when I am present.
I have 2 years lifeguarding experience
I am currently in my second year of lifeguarding, and have never stopped loving it since I started. When lifeguarding, I try to limit accidents and dangers by catching them before they even happen. I lifeguard in a professional manner, yet still make the event enjoyable for all involved. Lifeguarding for events such as parties is a unique experience because I not only get to keep people safe while they have fun, but get to know new people. I have been swimming on my summer league for over 12 years, so I am very comfortable near the water and know what to look for in people’s swimming abilities. When you don’t find me at work lifeguarding or at home studying, you will almost always find me with a fly rod in hand on any local body of water.
I serve the Austin communities of Round Rock, Spicewood, and Elgin, among others.
11 years lifeguarding experience! WOW! Serving areas from Santa Monica and all the Westside.
I love guarding at different pools and working with a wide variety of ages and personalities. If it’s safe and feasible, I’ll start a game with the kids or throw a ball around with them. I have years of experience as a lifeguard in different atmospheres including camps, private pools, and lakes. When I’m not lifeguarding, I’m working in marketing or traveling the world. I hope to make your party safe and fun!
Hi my name is Nick and I am a Florida native with a great Jamaican heritage. The reason that I first got into lifeguarding was because I got a summer job at a sleep away summer camp. I remember being pretty nervous my first couple times guarding. However, from that experience my confidence grew and after 4 years of that, I have learned so much about myself and my leadership ability. I acquired my lifeguard trainer certification and have put it to good use since.
The reason I love event lifeguarding is because on top of keeping everyone safe, I love being a part of the excitement going on around me.
Serving areas including Miami Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isle, Coral Gables
I have been working for three years as a private lifeguard in Miami Shores and have great people skills. Lifeguarding private events keeps me on my toes and allows me to branch out and reach new people that need lifeguarding service or that just need connections into the lifeguard industry and private pools. I am extremely athletic and an avid waterman of many different sports, and I also swam for 6 years so I’m not the worst person to get swimming instructions from.
I have 2 years of experience in the fields of lifeguarding and swim instructing. I love working as a lifeguard and take the responsibility in ensuring the safety of everyone very seriously. I enjoy lifeguarding events because it allows me to make sure kids are having fun while staying safe and out of harms way. I’m currently an 18 year-old student athlete attending West Campus High School. I consider my education top priority, second to my athletics. What I like most about lifeguarding events is the feeling I get after an event where everyone is safe but also had a great time at the event. I feel accomplished and that my job was truly successful when that happens. A couple of fun facts about me is that I have a twin brother who lives in New Jersey, I can wiggle my ears and I can play the guitar.

HI!!!! My name in Rakeisha. I am a Canadian student-athlete currently finishing my degree in Biology on the medical track and playing soccer at Saint Leo University. I have been swimming since I was eight and have loved the water ever since. I have been a certified lifeguard for seven years now and have done so for camp, family outings, Saint Leo University’s pool, and at my own house. Though I am not a certified swim instructor I have taught a few kids in my community, so proper certification is something I will pursue. I understand how fun swimming can be but I also understand its dangers so I make it my business to ensure a safe environment for those who want to enjoy the water!
I am a service oriented individual who has always been eager to help those in need whether be it on the medical field or as a lay person. I am new to the lifeguard field, graduated and licensed Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Florida with a competitive swimming history. I enjoy the view of people having fun and knowing that I’d be keeping them safe as they do so. I boxed for many years and reached a competitive level.

Hi I’m Raimy! I have been a swim instructor for 4 years total and a certified WSI (Water Safety Instructor) for 2 years. I love teaching swim lessons because it is such an important skill to learn in life and truly saves so many lives. I am very patient with new and/or scared swimmers. At a young age, I was a very fearful child in the water myself. I can empathize with a child who may be fearful and work past their uncertainties and get them swimming as quickly as possible!
I have 4 years of lifeguarding experience, anywhere from private pool parties to private swim lessons. I love lifeguarding for special events, because it gives every parent who may have a young swimmer, peace of mind knowing there is an extra set of eyes making sure their child is safe in and around a pool!

I started lifeguarding at a summer camp I have been going to for 8 years. Gold Arrow Camp is in the Fresno area on Huntington and Shaver lake. I lifeguarded young children ages 7-15 on the doc at the lake. I have always wanted to be a lifeguard mainly because I think it is an amazing experience but also because you get to call yourself someone that could potentially save a life if necessary. I like Lifeguarding because it uses all of my strengths such as being organized, focussed, while still having a great time in the water. A fun fact about myself is that I learned how to swim when I was 2 years old, I play softball, and I love food from all over the world (I once ate a camel burger in Morocco). Overall I think Lifeguarding is so much fun and I love it.

Since I was a child I was always close to the water, in my adolescence I spent three years in the national swimming school in Cuba, as swimming instructor since 1996 I worked several summers in Cuba. In 2007 I went to live in Spain where I also worked as a swimming instructor in 2012 I went to live in Sardinia, Italy where I worked as a private swimming instructor for three years, I like this job because swimming is the most complete sport, it is also very important to learn to swim by your own security, there is a risk of death by drowning very high in the world, I personally think that all people should know how to swim or know how to be safe in an aquatic environment
As a lifeguard I worked two summers in Cuba, before starting in the university, where I studied pedagogy in appreciation of art. In 2007 I went to live in Spain where I also work as a lifeguard in 2012. After 18 years falling in and out of love with swimming, nothing I find rewrites the influence the water has had on me. It’s an effective, sustainable exercise people can spend their entire lives enjoying. My intention as a lifeguard is to protect swimming enthusiasts from mistakes and, if necessary, rescue them from consequence. Fun fact: I share a name with the Urdu word for beach, shoreline, coastline, riverbank…essentially wherever water meets earth.

Hi, my name is Sarah Isela! There is a quote about lifeguards that says, “A lifeguard is like a storm shelter, you may never need it, but if you do it can be a lifesaver.” During my five years of lifeguarding, I have been the storm shelter and lifesaver to countless people. My 6 year lifeguarding career began in 2013, when I received my American Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Since then, I have gained an incredible amount of experience lifeguarding every year: 2013-2015 at an indoor aquatic center (North Arundel Aquatic Center), and 2015-current (Summer 2018) as the beach “Baywatch” of Sandy Point State Park. When I lifeguard, I work to the best of my ability to ensure the safety of every child/ swimmer/ patron. If the time comes that I must become your “lifesaver,” you are in good hands. I have handled over 100 water assists, as well as four serious water rescues over the past five years. I have even received the Superintendent’s Award from the Natural Resources Police (NRP) for assisting in a water rescue of 5 people from a jet skiing accident in the Chesapeake Bay. This is my first year lifeguarding for events, and I look forward to working with you to ensure the safety of all your swimmers!

Hello, my name is Sean Snyder and I want to share with you why I love being a lifeguard. First, and most importantly, I love the experiences I’ve had protecting and serving others. Whether it’s making sure the chairs are clean or saving a kids life in the water you always feel the appreciation for your efforts. Secondly, I’ve already saved a life and I can’t think of any better way to live than by making others feel safe. Knowing that a person is moving forward in life because I performed my job correctly is an amazing feeling. Third, my knowledge is useful outside of my profession and it makes my family and friends feel safer, what a bonus! I carry my CPR mask with me almost everywhere I go just in case a situation may arise elsewhere. You never know when your training may be needed. Finally, it is the best job I’ve ever had and I am proud of the work I do. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for more.

Serving the areas surrounding San Francisco, Daly City, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach for 3 years as a lifeguard.
I started Lifeguarding in high school at age 16 for the City of Huntington Beach and became a Water Safety Instructor as well. After 2 years, I moved to San Francisco for college and became a Lifeguard and Safety Officer for the Waterpolo team at my school. Each summer I go back to Huntington Beach and work for the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa as a Lifeguard. I really enjoy Lifeguarding, especially the rewarding feeling that you get when you actually do need to help someone! Something that sets me apart from other Lifeguards is the fact that when I’m not teaching swim lessons or lifeguarding, I’m usually teaching surf lessons or surfing myself!
Hi, I’m Simon and am a new lifeguard this summer. I feel that my status as a rookie guard is more of a strength, rather than a detriment, because I have recent training and I am very eager to be a lifeguard. In my school, I am the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and a player on the varsity basketball team, as well as a member of my township’s youth council and an active altar server. I have worked for City of Glendale and Los Angeles County as a lifeguard and I am currently working for city of Pasadena as a senior lifeguard. something interesting about me is that although I am a very good swimmer and a lifeguard, I am actually scared of the ocean, maybe for the fact that I do not know whats under the water since I can not see it . I am also fluent in Armenian and Farsi
Areas I commonly serve: Los Angeles, pasadena, Encino, Studio City
Hi, it’s Skylar! As a child I remember looking up to lifeguards as role models and thinking, “one day I want to be a lifeguard too.” I have now been lifeguard/first-aid/CPR/AED certified for 1.5 years. Though I mostly participated in sports like gymnastics and track, I always had a love for the ocean so I knew that I would feel very comfortable in the water. Because I have worked with children most of my life as a coach, lifeguard, and babysitter, I have learned the importance and great value of responsibility, attentiveness, and integrity. These skills are highly important in lifeguarding to ensure the safety of everyone. I have guarded at a busy YMCA and numerous private pool parties, including school field trips. It is so exciting for me to watch people have tons of fun in the pool, and the best part is knowing that I am watching over everyone’s safety. As a Communication major at SDSU, I am confident in my abilities to recognize nonverbal signs of distress in a swimmer, to effectively communicate with you as a client, and to resolve any issues should they arise.
I serve the San Diego communities of El Cajon, Del Mar, Escondido, La Jolla, among others
The 5 years worth of experience at luxury residential buildings, has exposed me to a variety of individuals of all backgrounds. The variety both in my personal life, and my work keeps my happiness and ambitions high; the mundane is of little interest to me. Lifeguarding allows me to constantly learn, expose myself to the new and striving for the spontaneous. “Carpe diem”
I serve the NYC metro areas of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, among others.
Hello, my name is Stace and I have been working as a lifeguard for about one summer now. Aside from lifeguarding, I also work as a Summer Fun/After School Care leader for grade and middle school age children. The thing I love the most about being a lifeguard is meeting new people and having them feel safe and comfortable in the water. I also just enjoy the ambiance and flow of the pool deck. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, which is where my love for the water has come from. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, creating different types of art, playing volleyball, and hiking.

For the last twenty-four years, I worked as a Special Education Assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District. For twenty of those years, I worked with at-risk students and students with special needs at the secondary level. These students resided in a residential facility, and I worked closely not only with the entire school staff but with the social workers and staff at the residential placement. I am excited to be part of the Management Team of Happy Swimmers and look forward to working with you.
I am a NYC middle school math teacher, and love every minute of what I do. Having summers off, I decided years ago to make the most of what I can, in continuing to try to help others, so I decided to become a lifeguard/swim instructor. There is nothing better in my eyes than seeing the faces of smiling children, knowing that they are having fun, and that they are safe at the same time.

Hi, I’m Sydney and I’m currently a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin. Being by the water is my favorite place to be during the hot summers in Texas. I was a competitive swimmer for 14 years and still enjoy swimming laps in my free time.
For the past five summers, I have been a private and group swim instructor for ages 3 to 20. I have a wide spectrum of experience from children who are afraid to get in the water to competitive swimmers who need stroke instruction.
I enjoy building trust with the children I’ve taught and allowing them to progress into confident swimmers. I believe encouragement goes a long way and try to make the learning process as enjoyable as swimming is to me!
For the past five summers, I’ve lifeguarded at a city pool and for private events. When life guarding, I work to maintain a fun and safe environment for everyone inside and around the pool.
Because I am constantly scanning the pool and assessing the swimmers abilities, I saved lives each summer that I was working and prevented more accidents by enforcing the rules of the pool as well as general pool safety procedures. Last summer I was head life guard for our staff before retiring from my hometown pool. I take pride in my job and strive to continue to be a dependable life guard.

Hi there! I began lifeguarding at an aquatic park two summers ago in college and have since guarded birthday parties, company gatherings, and celebrations with all ages. Although my background is not particularly lengthy, it has however been incredibly condensed with experience and passion. My utmost priority is assisting in maintaining a safe swimming environment and to do so in a fun, happy and interactive way. My intention is to convey that I take on this responsibility with great care and dedication in order for my guests to feel that they can trust me with their, and their children’s, lives. Fun little note about me, I was born and raised in South Africa up until high school :). ~~Welcome Taylor, 🙂 owner Jenn

I became a lifeguard in 2013 and have loved it ever since! For two years (2013-2014) I worked as a lifeguard in the Summer and late Fall at Oakwell Farms neighborhood pool. Last summer (2015) I worked briefly as a lifeguard at Inwood Hallow neighborhood pool as a sub, and then moved onto a full time job at Fort Sam Houston Outdoor Aquatic Center. Towards the end of the summer last year, I was a lifeguard for kids’ birthday parties. My intention for lifeguarding this summer is to provide safety, protection, and a positive attitude for the people I will be serving. I love meeting and interacting with new people, which is my favorite thing about lifeguarding private events.
I have been teaching swim lessons for roughly a year now under Fort Sam Houston outdoor aquatic center. Last summer I had 17 swim students ranging from the ages of 3-7 and one 12 year old. I love teaching swim lessons because it is a unique opportunity to grow closer to kids of all ages in a fun and educational environment. I love kids, I have had the pleasure of babysitting my nieces & nephews as well as neighbors kids over the past 5 years. Lastly, I have a very flexible schedule and a friendly, nurturing, and patient personality.
I have been a swim instructor for two years. I have taught numerous people from infants, kids, teens, adults and even tri-atheletes. Many swimmers I have recently worked with have been the younger kids – infant to four or five – and have picked up a little bit of a specialty working with those who are special needs kids.
I have been an EMT and a lifeguard for three and a half years, I have worked on the beach front for a school in Southern California and at multiple pools in SoCal, and work as a standby EMT lifeguard for special events. I like to meet new people and have fun guarding while keeping people safe. I want to get into the Fire Department as a paramedic and lifeguarding is a good way to learn and be ready for anything that could arise.
I have experience as a Waterfront Lifeguard as well.
I serve the Orange County/Inland Empire communities of Mission Viejo, Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona Del Mar, among others.
I have worked as a swim instructor for three years, working with toddlers to adults working on better stroke and techniques. I really get stoked on the kids with the most progress at a young age.

Hi my name is Timothy Nabonne most people call me TJ or Tim. I have done lifeguarding since I was old enough to pass the exam. Ive also had the opportunity to teach and work with kids of all ages through the YMCA and other programs. Hi, my name is Travis! I’ve been doing private swim lessons for 3 years now working with around 15-20 kids ranging from ages 4-13. I think one of the things that make me special is my ability to connect with children and get them involved and happy with being in the water. The part I like most about teaching swim lessons is seeing the face of a child light up when they do something they thought was impossible. That feeling is completely unique, I also love that I’m influencing the kids in a positive way for the rest of their life. I worked as an AVID tutor at the high school and middle school level for 3 years as well! As you can probably tell I really love to teach!
I’ve always loved swimming! The idea of becoming a lifeguard seemed like a dream! Now that I’m finally certified I’m excited to do my best and to ensure the safety of all clientele. A fun fact about me is that I learned how to swim at the age of 4 and I’ve been swimming ever since. I even ended up competing at a state level on my high school swim team! I also was in Boy Scouts till I was 18 and left as an Eagle Scout!

A little bit about Christine: After working as an LAPD scientific investigator for 11 years I transitioned to completing my M.S. degree in Chemistry then followed a teaching and research path in university academics for several years. I then moved to Hawaii in 2008 where I first joined the JTA CPR/ Happy Swimmers team as a CPR/First Aid instructor. During these years I had always made a priority in volunteerism being active in the National Ski Patrol and the USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. Today I reside in Houston and presently support Help America Today turning elementary aged kids into the volunteers of tomorrow through grassroots community service projects. My passion for teaching and making a positive impact on our society is why I love teaching CPR and First Aid, particularly for those never certified. I am proud to now expand into the administrative staff of the company and be a part of turning children into happy swimmers.

I am passionate about first aid and survival skills and when I’m lifeguarding I pride myself on safety and prevention. Some of the communities I serve include:Fairfax, Potomac, Arlington, McLean, Great Falls
I have 3 years of lifeguard experience.
I started teaching swim lessons when I was 16, since I had just learned how to swim I understand the fear of the water. Not only that but with 4 years of experience now I can confidently say I can teach children how to relax in the water and then take it further from there. I want to be able to build a strong foundation in swimming with anyone I teach, and watch as it blossoms into a hobby or even a passion. A fun fact was that just last summer I two of the seven year old kids I had qualified for TAAF State Championship.
I’m looking to make an impact on the life’s of the people I meet. I want to be able to provide not only a fun but safe environment for everyone this summer. I enjoy the opportunity to be a role model for not only what a lifeguard should be, but what everyone should be in the water. Funny enough I didn’t learn how to swim in till I was 15 and now the water is a second home for me.
I serve the Dallas-Fort Worth communities of Dallas, Forth Worth, Arlington, South lake, and Richardson, among others.
Hello! My names Victoria and I have been teaching kids to swim for over 3 years. Prior to swim instructing I was swimming at the competitive level for over 10 years. I love teaching kids of all ages and my experience ranges from teaching ages 4 months to adults. In my experience the earlier kids start the better, the water is waiting! I love teaching kids both the technical aspects of the strokes and also just helping them get comfortable in the water. Teaching swim lessons is so rewarding to me because I know I’m helping someone learn such an important life skill. A little fun fact about me is that I love to travel the world!
I have also been professionally lifeguarding for over three years! Lifeguarding is one of my absolute favorite jobs because I get to be by the pool, which I love, and also ensure that I’m keeping my fellow swimmers safe. My intention when guarding is to create a safe environment where all swimmers are at ease and having a blast in the pool. I love getting to watch people enjoying the water while knowing they are safe.
I serve the Sacramento communities of Elk Grove, Sacramento, Davis, Roseville, among others.
I been teaching Swim Lesson for around 4 years already using Red Cross guideline techniques. A lot of the times I use my own imagination in order to have fun an an effective learning experience. Some of my background experience touched special children that needed extra help in order to remain confident in water.
Every weekend in one of the pools I’ve been working in weve scheduled event parties with usually families or a group of people (avg. 50) renting the pool. Usually we had to decorate the pool in one specific theme so everyone will have fun. In some cases a lot of kids were involved so we had to be extra prepared.
I serve the Arizona communities of Tucson, Phoenix, Scotsdale, Gilbert, among others.
15 years experience!
I’ve been a seasonal lifeguard for as long as I can remember. It’s a great act of mindful awareness to ensure that all beings in the water are happy, safe and well. It’s an honor to keep watch and a delight to ensure Lifeguards are well trained and prepared for their important work!

10 years swim instructor experience. I began swim instructing while working at summer camp working with young kids up through adults attending camps for the blind. Whether they’re a first time swimmer or an advanced swimmer, I love to see people become more comfortable in the water, challenge themselves to improve their skills, and enjoy the freedom and feel of the water.
18 years lifeguarding experience. My lifeguarding career started with summer camp waterfront. Not much can beat helping people of all ages and capabilities safely enjoy the lake activities for the summer. Camp provided a wide range of lifeguard leadership from water ski shows and group water games, to canoeing rivers and kayaking to islands, and to blobs and rope swings. As a result, I lifeguard preventatively so that people can continue to enjoy the activities to the fullest. Waterfront Lifeguarding and Scuba certified.
Areas served: Oahu Island, Ewa Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii Kai, North Shore
I have 4 years swim instruction experience and 5 years lifeguarding experience.
Over the past four years I have had a lot of experience with teaching lessons. When I first started, I worked as an assistant instructor for several programs with children ranging from ages 3 to 15 with a variety of skill levels. After moving to Washington, DC, I began working at the American University aquatic center where I was eventually promoted to Head Lifeguard of Swim Instructors. In this position, I helped to manage and teach the swim lessons run through AU Recreation and Fitness. The most rewarding part of teaching swim lessons would have to be watching the improvement and excitement of the student grow. My passion is to see a world where everyone can feel safe and have fun in the water!
I started lifeguarding at my community pool the summer before my junior year of high school. Five years have passed and I have worked at a variety of pools and events for communities, families, and high profile clients too. I lifeguard because aquatic safety is a passion of mine and I want to make sure that everyone can have a safe and exciting time at the pool!
I serve the DC metro areas of Washington and Bethesda, among others.
Hi, my name is Will and I am currently a student at USC majoring in neuroscience. I love the water, so much so that I’ve decided to become a lifeguard to help ensure others can enjoy it safety and happily. I rowed crew for USC, along with high school water polo for 4 years, so I am no stranger to swimming and water safety. A fun fact about myself: I’m probably in the gym more often than I’m not.
I serve the Los Angeles & Orange County communities of Pasadena Area, West LA, San Fernando Valley, among others.
I spent 5 summer seasons as a lifeguard in San Diego. Lifeguarding is a very serious job because I have the duty to act in a life threatening situation. As serious as it is, lifeguarding is also a very rewarding job where I can share my water safety knowledge with children and parents while also being a role model to those I protect. I also have extensive experience with bathroom accidents in the pool so no need to worry!
I have supervised and taught swim and water polo to children ages 4-13 at a sports camp for a summer. I have played water polo for 9 years and have been swimming since I was 4. I consider myself a strong swimmer and will be ready to handle any emergency. My first priority would be the safety of all children and second would be their ability to have fun.

I really enjoy making a difference in peoples lives and possibly saving lives.

Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
