Yumi and Jere were wonderful lifeguards when they guarded our end of year pool party on Wednesday June 11 from 11-2. They were in touch with me, were on time and prepared, and were very responsible and knowledgeable. I was so happy to be able to put two adults in charge of our fourth grade class party.
Based on my experience with Yumi Temple and her cohort Jere, I would highly recommend Happy Swimmers.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. So happy we used your business.
Hi Jenn.. wow today was really scary. I had to use my first aid skills on my mom! We work at the same preschool & she had an allergic reaction & went into shock! I did everything I remembered until the paramedics came.. I really can’t thank you enough for teaching me everything I needed to know!
Everything about my experience with Happy Swimmers has been amazing! From the scheduling to the fantastic teacher they sent for my 5 and 6 year old. The instructor, Emma, had to contend with 2 very different personalities along with 2 different levels of swimming experience. She was more than equipped to deal with that and gave each child unparalleled support, encouragement and instruction. I highly recommend this service to all parents that want to give their child a great experience in being water safe!
We have three kids ages 7, 4, and 2 & 1/2. This was our second year having Happy Swimmers, with instructor Trisha Commons, come teach our kids (the two oldest) to swim. I tried another company the year before I tried Happy Swimmers and although the kids learned swim safety, they were bored and did not learn how to enjoy the pool. Trisha got our son, who did not really like swimming, having fun and by the end of last year could swim the entire length of the pool on his own.
Trisha is great with the kids and is flexible in her teaching style to work with different personalities. She is able to get the kids confident in their abilities and teaches them how to swim, but also teaches them how to have fun! I will definitely be asking Happy Swimmers and Trisha to teach the kids again next year.
I have a toddler and a pool and wanted to make sure my son learned water safety. After taking some group classes last summer, I knew I wanted more one-on-one attention at our home. This summer I reviewed several in-home companies and was impressed with Happy Swimmers approach of water safety.
Trish worked with my stubborn 2-yr old 2-3 times a week. Within the first lesson he knew how to climb out of the pool and to ask permission before getting in. Although our goal was to get him water comfortable more than “swimming”, he indeed learned to swim within a few weeks. We extended our lessons and really appreciated Trish’s approach. We will sign up again next summer. Many of our friends with children happened to be present on several lessons and I expect they will also sign up next summer as well.
Hired a happy swimmers for private life guard for a party for over 200 people at my house. The lifeguard was great. She called to confirm before, came on time, and stayed later then we originally signed up because the party went over. She also showed up on time despite there being a black out that because of storms the day before. I highly recommend Happy Swimmers.

There is nothing more valuable than teaching a skill like swimming that will offer one a safe experience & can literally open doors to increased self-confidence & competence in any body of water—be it pool-sea-or lake. Years of coaching water polo & operating Los Angeles Jr. Lifeguard program enabled me to amass an enormous tool box of skills to help teach people of all ages to swim & handle themselves safely in the water.
As a 30 year veteran of Los Angeles County Lifeguard & Fire Dept Paramedic I know how rewarding & important maintaining a safe environment for the public & swimmers can be. Spotting & preventing danger is a learned skill that when actively applied can literally make the difference between a fun day or one wrought with tragedy. Turning people onto the stoke of water play is really a gift that should be shared with everyone.

Find a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Glad I took my family’s advice! As a lifeguard for the past 7 years, I’ve watched over waters at noisy, crowded summer camp pools, public pools and private family lake homes. No matter where my chair may be, I enjoy ensuring everyone’s safety in and around the water. No worries – I do not consider myself whistle happy.

I have swum since I was a baby, but have competitively swum for 11 years and I also play water polo.
I grew up as a swimmer and water polo player in Orange County, and am extremely comfortable in the water. Throughout my years in aquatics, I have had the privilege of interacting with excellent and professional lifeguards. I have been instructing swim lessons and lifeguarding for 4 years. I learned how to swim very young in Hawaii and continued swimming all the way until college when I received my lifeguard certification. I was fortunate enough to become an Eagle Scout and teach swimming in the Boy Scouts of America. After joining the Marine Corps I completed my certification for Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival which is my current occupation. Within the Marine Corps I have been extensively trained in many different water survival and swimming techniques. I enjoy the outdoors and the I feel as though the beach is my second home. The thing I like most about teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding is knowing that I am teaching a skill to others that will potentially save their life one day.
Advanced LG certs: Waterfront lifeguard, Ocean Lifeguard Experience, Wilderness First Aid.
I’ve been teaching swim lessons for 8+ years to children ages 2-18 (as well as adults). I’ve worked with children on every level – from those scared of the water, to kids on a swim team. As a life long competitive swimmer, teaching children to swim and instilling in them a love for the water has always been a passion of mine. In additional to helping children enjoy the water and learn the necessary survival skills, I am also capable of working on specific strokes and techniques with older or more advanced swimmers.
I worked as a lifeguard during high school and college for my local city quarry, and now work in the San Diego metro area. I’ve always enjoyed being in and around the water, so lifeguarding was an easy choice. Allowing people to have a great time while still being safe is something I pride myself in and I look forward to working with you, your family, and your guests!
I serve the San Diego communities of San Diego proper – Everything south of Carlsbad
Hi, I’m Coco! I have been a swim instructor for a few years now, but have been working with kids for most of my life. It all started in Girl Scouts when I got to host my first event. I loved the energy the kids brought to the table, and from that moment, I knew I had to work with them. Experience in Girl Scouts helped me become a babysitter/nanny and camp counselor, and has eventually led me to teaching swim. Being a swim instructor seemed natural for me because I swam competitively in high school and love being in the water, as well as working with people. My favorite part about teaching swim is watching the child progress. The pride and excitement in their eyes when they finally master a skill they had been struggling with is priceless :~). A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is the polar bear and I could talk your ear off for hours about why they’re so fascinating!
I became a lifeguard in high school and am now in my second year of college. I wanted to be lifeguard because I love swimming so much that didn’t want to be away from the pool while I was out of the water! I am also very concerned with safety ever since I took my very first CPR class with my Girl Scout troop. The instructor inspired me to continue on in my safety education and become AED and First Aid certified, and then eventually become a lifeguard and get my emergency oxygen distribution and blood borne pathogens certifications. I believe that people should have only good experiences in the water, and want to do everything I can to make that happen. I hope that everyone is able to enjoy the pool regardless of their skill level, and always feel safe in the water. A fun fact about me is that I love rock climbing!
I serve the OC, Inland Empire, and San Diego communities of Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, and Orange, among others.
4 years experience! Serving communities like San Diego, Vista, Ramona, Oceanside, El Cajon
I am a San Diego native and in the water and sunshine is where I feel at home. I played on both the water polo and swim team all four years of high school and have always considered a job in the emergency medical field. I have been life guarding for four years and loving every minute. I take the job seriously and focus on maintaining a safe and fun environment. I am also pursuing a career as a San Diego beach life guard or fire fighter. EMT certified.
I just recently started swim instructing about half a year go and have loved every moment. The satisfaction the children get when they have learned a stroke or how to improve it is pure bliss. I feel amazing knowing my job is done when parents come up to me informing me what their child has done at their own pool. Ensuring safety is also a big role in this job and teaching children how to swim makes that so much better.
I have been Lifeguarding for two years now and have loved every moment of it. Maintaining a happy and positive attitude while ensuring safety plays a big role when Lifeguarding, enjoying the job just makes it that much better. Making both the parents and children happy and safe are very important to me.

Hi, I’m Edson, a watermen who has been involved in water safety for the last 8 years. I have worked with different departments in the LA area. I have experience the open water environment (lakes and reservoirs), the ocean environment (beaches) and the pool environment. My scope continues to grow as I continue to push the envelope. I enjoy working together with people so that everyone can enjoy a hot summer day at the beach, lake and or pool.
Edson is game to travel just about anywhere in Southern CA, we kid you not. He is passionate about guarding and has taken difficult to fill jobs off the beaten track to keep kids safe. 🙂
I have 2 years lifeguarding experience.
I’ve grown up around water and have done anything involving it, such as boat sports, swim, and competitive year round water polo. I’ve been lifeguard certified for 5 years now and worked at a YMCA last summer.
I serve the San Diego metro area and communities of La Jolla, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, and Poway, among others.
I first started swim instructing last year, working all seasons and now summer. I’ve taught kids from all age groups 6 months to 15 years old. I’ve also taught kids who are very scared of water and kids who are naturals. Previously, I competed on a swim team for 6 years, two in college and four in high school. Therefore, I’m very familiar with proper techniques and stroke work. Because I have also taught kids who didn’t know anything about swimming or just were just too fearful of water, I have learned to make sure kids are having fun while learning but are also safe!
I’ve been lifeguarding for three years, starting at a water park and now I currently work at a pool. I primarily guard birthday parties and know a lot of water games kids love to play. I always make sure the kids are having fun and smiling but most of all are being safe. Lifeguarding and teaching are my passions so I take my job very serious, however I always make sure to have a smile on, ensuring everyone is having fun.

I have been working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for over 12 years. I began my water experience at the age of 14 when I played water polo. Along with water polo I participated in swimming, my high school and college surf teams. I love being in the water and helping others in the skills to be safe, successful, and have fun in the water. I have taught swim lessons from babies to adults and I feel comfortable and confident working with any type of swimmer. I am looking forward to teaching you or your swimmer the best swimming skills around!
As a lifeguard I pride myself in the recognition of when a swimmer can be in distress and to prevent any incidents. I am looking forward to a Sunny San Diego Summer with all swimmers out there!
Ocean Lifeguard qualified and pools.
My background as a lifeguard includes 12 years of Ocean experience including Surfing, Diving, and Swimming. I have been a lifeguard for 1 year now, and during that year I was a Surf Instructor for kids and adults ages ranging from 6 to 45. I also have guarded multiple private events for Happy Swimmers. Through watching 45 kids in the ocean, saving people from rip currents, and guarding at a pool party, I have gained first hand experience as to what it takes to be a successful Lifeguard. I know water is a dangerous place for both kids and adults, and I want to use my experience to protect everyone around me. I enjoy giving people that sense of safeness because I am watching them or their kids, and I enjoy being outside and anything to do with water.

Hi! My name is Lila. I’ve been an ocean and pool lifeguard for 5 years, and did junior lifeguard programs every summer before that since the age of 9. I love being near any body of water. The thing that I love most about lifeguarding events is giving everyone, especially the hosts, peace of mind so they can enjoy their event to the fullest without worrying about the safety of their guests.
I serve Los Angeles and San Diego communities
My name is Mason Molnar, I am 16 years old and ever since I was a toddler I have loved the water. My whole life I have grown up near the beach, so it was only natural for me to begin surfing and swimming at a young age. I am currently a part of my high school water polo team and surf team and have loved being a team player and helping my team in water polo games and surf contests. I also surf for Swamis Surf Association in the Surf Coalition contests. I also love building and fixing things and have been spending most of my free time fixing a 1966 Jeep Wagoneer. Through this experience I have learned so much about persevering old things and using my skills and applying them in many different aspects in life. I am very good with little kids because I have 3 siblings and two of them are younger brothers. My goal is to be a good role model for my brothers and the kids around me.

A little bit about Christine: After working as an LAPD scientific investigator for 11 years I transitioned to completing my M.S. degree in Chemistry then followed a teaching and research path in university academics for several years. I then moved to Hawaii in 2008 where I first joined the JTA CPR/ Happy Swimmers team as a CPR/First Aid instructor. During these years I had always made a priority in volunteerism being active in the National Ski Patrol and the USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. Today I reside in Houston and presently support Help America Today turning elementary aged kids into the volunteers of tomorrow through grassroots community service projects. My passion for teaching and making a positive impact on our society is why I love teaching CPR and First Aid, particularly for those never certified. I am proud to now expand into the administrative staff of the company and be a part of turning children into happy swimmers.
I was an Ocean Lifeguard in my hometown of Long Beach, New York for four summers before moving to San Diego. I am a business major at San Diego State University with a minor in sun, surf and lifeguarding!
I serve the San Diego communities of Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Encinitas, among others.
I have worked for City of Glendale and Los Angeles County as a lifeguard and I am currently working for city of Pasadena as a senior lifeguard. something interesting about me is that although I am a very good swimmer and a lifeguard, I am actually scared of the ocean, maybe for the fact that I do not know whats under the water since I can not see it . I am also fluent in Armenian and Farsi
Areas I commonly serve: Los Angeles, pasadena, Encino, Studio City
Hi, it’s Skylar! As a child I remember looking up to lifeguards as role models and thinking, “one day I want to be a lifeguard too.” I have now been lifeguard/first-aid/CPR/AED certified for 1.5 years. Though I mostly participated in sports like gymnastics and track, I always had a love for the ocean so I knew that I would feel very comfortable in the water. Because I have worked with children most of my life as a coach, lifeguard, and babysitter, I have learned the importance and great value of responsibility, attentiveness, and integrity. These skills are highly important in lifeguarding to ensure the safety of everyone. I have guarded at a busy YMCA and numerous private pool parties, including school field trips. It is so exciting for me to watch people have tons of fun in the pool, and the best part is knowing that I am watching over everyone’s safety. As a Communication major at SDSU, I am confident in my abilities to recognize nonverbal signs of distress in a swimmer, to effectively communicate with you as a client, and to resolve any issues should they arise.
I serve the San Diego communities of El Cajon, Del Mar, Escondido, La Jolla, among others
I have been a swim instructor for two years. I have taught numerous people from infants, kids, teens, adults and even tri-atheletes. Many swimmers I have recently worked with have been the younger kids – infant to four or five – and have picked up a little bit of a specialty working with those who are special needs kids.
I have been an EMT and a lifeguard for three and a half years, I have worked on the beach front for a school in Southern California and at multiple pools in SoCal, and work as a standby EMT lifeguard for special events. I like to meet new people and have fun guarding while keeping people safe. I want to get into the Fire Department as a paramedic and lifeguarding is a good way to learn and be ready for anything that could arise.
I have experience as a Waterfront Lifeguard as well.
I serve the Orange County/Inland Empire communities of Mission Viejo, Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona Del Mar, among others.
I have been guarding for 10 years and have enjoyed teaching people about water safety. I like to prevent emergencies from happening and enjoy being around all type of folks! Hello! My name is Vanessa. I am a born and raised San Diegan who loves the beach! I have been swimming since I was a young child, and even competed in high school. I love working with kids and am dedicated to providing a safe and fun environment so that children can enjoy playing in the water as much as I did as a child.
I serve in the El Cajon, Alpine, Lakeside, Santee, La Mesa, San Diego, La Jolla, Del Mar, and Solana Beach areas.
I spent 5 summer seasons as a lifeguard in San Diego. Lifeguarding is a very serious job because I have the duty to act in a life threatening situation. As serious as it is, lifeguarding is also a very rewarding job where I can share my water safety knowledge with children and parents while also being a role model to those I protect. I also have extensive experience with bathroom accidents in the pool so no need to worry!
5 years experience, communities served like Point Loma, La Jolla, Carmel Valley, Del Mar
Water is my life! I have experience teaching swim lessons (levels ranging from mommy& me to coaching swim team), lifeguarding and competitive swimming. I absolutely love being anywhere near the pool or the ocean! I am inspired to promote fun in the water with an emphasis on water safety practices. I have a special passion for teaching, as I am currently finishing my credentials to be a kindergarten teacher. Teaching has taught me patience and attentiveness which is an instrumental component of serving my duties as a lifeguard to my best ability.
