Washington DC (DMV) Lifeguard for Hire Service
Serving the entire DMV area!
Greater Washington DC area served by Happy Swimmers Mobile Lifeguards
Happy Swimmers USA is a 27 year old company of insured, experienced professional lifeguards ready to keep your children’s pool party safe and fun. If you’re in the DC suburbs in Maryland or Northern Virginia, you’re in our service area. We recently lifeguard certified the House of Representatives and Senate Health Club staff (Architect of the Capitol), keeping lawmakers safe (at least while swimming). Trust us to keep an eye out for your kids’ safety too! We suggest one lifeguard for each 15 children of mixed ages and abilities. If the participants are all swimmers (with none under age 3) we can usually allow 20 swimmers per lifeguard.
Price for up to 3 hours is $209 per lifeguard. Over 3 hours add $25/half hour per lifeguard. Feel free to keep the guards over your original booking time pending their schedule. Our office will bill you. The booking form on the next page will easily calculate your cost based on your party length and amount of lifeguards. We’re a cheap alternative to an accident. Just recently, one guard made 4 rescues to children at a busy party. Think their parents thought he was worth it?
Why hire us over another lifeguard company or even the kid down the street? – We are the only lifeguard for hire company that protects you with our insurance for PROFESSIONAL as well as general liability insurance. Most swim companies carry the minimum general liability (slips and falls) but they don’t carry the more specific professional liability coverage. God forbid, if an accident happens no matter who’s fault, you want your guard(s) insured for you. Would you drive a car without proper insurance or go to a doctor who you found didn’t carry malpractice insurance to cut corners? We cover you and your event, so you can enjoy the party. Additionally, know that freelancers are completely uninsured. Who checks their backgrounds and lifeguard certification status? Our staff is professionally checked for these. We hire the cream of the crop with the best experience, and with us, you have a team of managers and a company to back you up if someone flakes.
It is my blessing to be able to bring such fine staff to guard your party. By you checking us out here, I already know you see our value. We look forward to serving you and your guests.

Hello, my name is Andrew Pennington. I enjoy serving the Washington, D.C. Metro Region with four years of experience as a professional Lifeguard. I presently work as a licensed Pool Operator, certified Lifeguarding Instructor, an American Red Cross volunteer First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and a Maryland State EMT. In addition to graduating from UMBC with a B.S. in Psychology, I am active as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 944 (Rockville, MD), the troop in which I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2010. Meeting new members of the community and providing some ease of mind are among my favorite aspects of lifeguarding. I look forward to serving your next event!
I have 4 years experience
I have lifeguarded since summer of 2014 and have loved it ever since. I enjoy my work by the pool keeping it neat and clean. I love talking to people and meeting new people while I’m lifeguarding. I believe that safety comes first and that if the patrons are safe, happy, and satisfied that is all that matters. Lifeguarding events are fun because of music, the food, and everyone is having a good time. I enjoy hanging with the kids too.
I serve the DC metro communities of Frederick, Gaithersburg, and Rockville, among others.
5 years experience! Washington D.C., towns/cities in Northwest New Jersey

AED, and first aid.
I first guarded for the City of Providence Pools when I was a teenager. I kept up my certs and after I joined the Coast Guard after high school. From there I guarded part time wherever I could up until late 1988 when I got out of the Coast Guard and joined the Foreign Service. While I stopped guarding for some years, I became a SCUBA instructor for over two decades. I just love Life guarding. At this point in my life it affords great exercise, training, and I love working with the public. I currently work for Prince George’s County at a nearby county pool. Every month I have four mandatory hours of in-service training and I swim laps each work day.
I serve the Washington DC communities of College Park, Silver Spring, Columbia, Baltimore, among others.

I love guarding because I am happy whenever I am near the pool and enjoy providing a feeling of safety to people so that they can be happy in the water too! Fun fact, I am also a scuba certified diver and have swam with turtles and sharks!

Even though John is relatively new to lifeguarding, he has spent his whole life on the water; from his summers swimming at Hinckley Lake in New York to working as a sailor and musician for Princess Cruises. Last summer (2018) he worked as a lifeguard at Healey Point where he says, “encouraging young swimmers to overcome their fear of jumping off the diving board was the best part of my job. It’s such an exhilarating and triumphant experience and it’s apparent in their smiles.” When John is not on the lifeguard stand, he’s on a different stand entirely; directing orchestras and bands.
Serving: Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC
I have been a lifeguard for the past year, and before I become a guard I always wanted to get certified. When I was younger, I use to think that the lifeguards at the pool were so cool and I wanted to be just like them. My favorite part about lifeguarding is ensuring safety of the swimmers and being at the pool all day! A fun fact about myself is that I have been running track and field for the past six years!
Serving: Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring

I’ve been a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, and swim coach on and off for the past six years. I come from a family of swimmers and spent so many days as a kid at the local pool that it feels like I grew up there. I greatly enjoy spending time in and around the water and love to help people have a safe, fun experience!
General areas I’ve served:Fairfax, McLean, Leesburg, DC
In the past, I worked at a series of public pools in my community. My intention in guarding is to gain experience and build relationships with new people. I love to talk to new people with different backgrounds and stories. Meeting new people everyday have probably been some of my favorite experiences while guarding.
I serve the Washington DC metro communities of (Maryland)Bowie, Crofton, Annapolis, Laurel, Columbia, among others.
I joined happy swimmers because it is flexible for my busy student and part time job schedule, and it gives me a chance to practice the life skills that I have learned from the Red Cross and from the 3 years that I have been a lifeguard.
My intention in guarding for happy swimmers is to provide a safe and fun environment for the customer so that my place of work is looked up to as a good company. This helps me because I will continue to be given work and helps my intention of finishing college as ASAP.
Serving: Baltimore, Washington D.C., Silver Spring, and Bethesda
Hi, my name is Sarah Isela! There is a quote about lifeguards that says, “A lifeguard is like a storm shelter, you may never need it, but if you do it can be a lifesaver.” During my five years of lifeguarding, I have been the storm shelter and lifesaver to countless people. My 6 year lifeguarding career began in 2013, when I received my American Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Since then, I have gained an incredible amount of experience lifeguarding every year: 2013-2015 at an indoor aquatic center (North Arundel Aquatic Center), and 2015-current (Summer 2018) as the beach “Baywatch” of Sandy Point State Park. When I lifeguard, I work to the best of my ability to ensure the safety of every child/ swimmer/ patron. If the time comes that I must become your “lifesaver,” you are in good hands. I have handled over 100 water assists, as well as four serious water rescues over the past five years. I have even received the Superintendent’s Award from the Natural Resources Police (NRP) for assisting in a water rescue of 5 people from a jet skiing accident in the Chesapeake Bay. This is my first year lifeguarding for events, and I look forward to working with you to ensure the safety of all your swimmers!
I serve the WDC communities of Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington D.C. proper, Rockville, among others.
Hi, my name is Shannon and I’ve been teaching swim lessons for 5 years with ages six months to sixty! I’ve also worked with children for 3 years as a tutor and child care provider. I graduated from Hood College with a swim scholarship and earned a degree in Global Studies. I love teaching swimming because I love helping to teach kids to enjoy the water and water safety. I also specialize in new swimmers and swim team training.
I have been lifeguarding for 5 years and have had the honor of saving 7 lives. I have worked for large hotel environments on the Las Vegas Strip as well as small, fun children parties. What I enjoy most about lifeguarding is being able to watch others have fun and knowing that they will be safe.
I serve the Washington DC communities of Alexandria, Arlington, Washington DC proper, among others!
My background is in the legal profession working as a legal secretary for many years. I stopped working to raise two children who are now young adults. My daughter is a teacher in the Portland school district, and my son is an artist who lives on the East coast. For the last twenty-four years, I worked as a Special Education Assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District. For twenty of those years, I worked with at-risk students and students with special needs at the secondary level. These students resided in a residential facility, and I worked closely not only with the entire school staff but with the social workers and staff at the residential placement. I am excited to be part of the Management Team of Happy Swimmers and look forward to working with you.
Born and raised in NYC I have been swimming since I was 2 years old. I swam competitively all through grade school and high school and loved it! I have been lifeguarding year round (not only summers) for 11 years. When lifeguarding my main priority is swimmer safety while having fun!
I serve the NYC communities of Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Long Island, Westchester, among others.
I grew up swimming competitively and started guarding a few years ago to stay near the pool (and help pay for college :). I really love helping others have a great time in the water and giving parents a little peace of mind. One of my favorite things about guarding for events is seeing all of the varied celebrations, it is certainly a treat to be able to see so many different family and cultural traditions!
When its too cold for the pool I love to ski and work as a ski instructor and on the ski patrol at nearby resorts.
Some of the communities I serve include:Fairfax, Potomac, Arlington, McLean, Great Falls
I have 4 years swim instruction experience and 5 years lifeguarding experience.
Over the past four years I have had a lot of experience with teaching lessons. When I first started, I worked as an assistant instructor for several programs with children ranging from ages 3 to 15 with a variety of skill levels. After moving to Washington, DC, I began working at the American University aquatic center where I was eventually promoted to Head Lifeguard of Swim Instructors. In this position, I helped to manage and teach the swim lessons run through AU Recreation and Fitness. The most rewarding part of teaching swim lessons would have to be watching the improvement and excitement of the student grow. My passion is to see a world where everyone can feel safe and have fun in the water!
I started lifeguarding at my community pool the summer before my junior year of high school. Five years have passed and I have worked at a variety of pools and events for communities, families, and high profile clients too. I lifeguard because aquatic safety is a passion of mine and I want to make sure that everyone can have a safe and exciting time at the pool!
I serve the DC metro areas of Washington and Bethesda, among others.
Hi! This is my third year lifeguarding and I am lifeguard/CPR/first aid, pool operator, and NOCTI certified. I started out as a regular lifeguard and eventually became manager at my pool. I absolutely love this job and interacting with people of all ages. I have worked with children from pre-school to high school, including kids with special needs. I am currently a pre-medicine student at VCU with the goal of becoming a trauma doctor.
